force God out of His own universe? read The Christian Stake in Science b y Robert E. D. Clark, Ph.D. A fresh approach to a controversial subject, a book dealing with beginnings, the Flood, with science and history as related to Christianity. Dr. Clark considers astronomy, chemistry, biology, geology—even Extra Sensory Per ception and related metaphysical subjects— each viewed from a perspective of both athe istic science and Christianity. A “must” for every seriously thinking Christian. $3.50 at Your Bookseller or write to Moody Press, Chicago 60S10 « CH W g nA N STAKE IN THE

It Didn't Just Happen by Ethel Barrett

Out To Win! Edited by Gary Warner

Parents with young children who have a concern for the spiritual growth of their family members are always looking for material to help them establish and further devotion al times together. Obviously this is one of the avowed purposes behind the well known “ Story lady’s” efforts. Helpfully the material is prepared with the “ talk-about” format which encourages individual discussion. The main portions of the book deal with stories of the beginning, Joseph, Moses, and Christmas with additional helpful material on Easter. One fea ture which adds greatly to the book’s usefulness is that it is written to be read aloud. In fact, one can almost hear Mrs. Barrett as she might tell the stories in her effective and win some manner. — 200 pages; cloth; Gospel Light Publications, Glendale, California; $3.95. With poems ranking among the Christian classics of contemporary writers such as Martha Snell Nichol son and Helen Frazee-Bower, the au thor is perhaps best known for the words to the familiar missionary Gospel song “ So Send I You” (some times known as “As The Father Hath Sent Me” ). Among the lovely verses is this short six-line poem: FOR THOSE IN PAIN He keepeth vigil through the night When weary are thine eyes with waking; And not alone in pain’s grim fight— With every pang His heart is ach ing. Seek but His will, not pain’s sur cease, And trust His love, and be at peace! Miss Clarkson has been a school teacher and lives in Toronto. It is refreshing to see how that all of her poems center on the Lord Himself, and that privilege which the true be liever has of serving Him. 95 pages; cloth; Moody Press, Chicago, 111.; $1.95.

This is a compilation of more than 50 personal testimonies by various athletes who have a ringing testi mony for the Lord Jesus Christ. These include men like Billy Wade, A1 Worthington, Don Shinnick, Gil Dodds, Jim Hiskey, Bud Schaeffer, Watson Spoelstra, and a number of others. The publication would be ex cellent for young people interested in any area of athletics including golf, football, baseball, track, wres tling, weight-lifting, basketball, who are interested in knowing whether the Christian life is practical and ap plicable in everyday circumstances. The editor majored in journalism and also spent three years in varsity baseball at Michigan State Univer sity. Since 1966 he has been Associ ate Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. 128 pages; cloth; Moody Press, Chicago, 111.; $2.95. An exciting missionary story of today is recreated vividly presenting the challenge of Christ in a myriad of difficult circumstances. Complete ly cut off from his family through an unjust imprisonment, the TEAM missionary had been serving Christ in Indonesia. Beginning in 1952, shortly after 2 pioneer TEAM mis sionaries had been martyred through the political turmoil of today’s world. Missionary Lovestrand reveals the frustration which is so often experi enced in such areas of upheaval and unrest. Triumph and victory are clearly underwritten, revealing the protective hand of God’s guidance each step of the many miles which were traveled eventually. The book will rank with other outstanding missionary biographies of our day. Young people should be urged to read it for it reveals the power of Christ and the triumph of righteousness.
