esting from the first sentence to the clos ing word and always thought provoking. The title may he misleading. If the reference, is to the Jesus of the Gospels, . He can not be possibly thought of as “The Man Nobody Knows.” On the other hand, if thé author wants us to think of these chapters as an adequate picture of Jesus then the title is absolutely .‘correct. The Jesus of this book is not the. Jesus of: the New Testament and in that! sense He may be .spoken, of as “The Map No body Knows.” Having said this, we are bound to say further that the book does challenge us to think about some outstanding things about Jesus that the most of people never see. No one can read the chapters on Christ as an active and wholesome out door man with a telling social touch with out wanting to take another look at the pages of the New Testament and feeling that we have missed something in our previous reading. Are we sure that if Jesus were living today on earth and doing as striking and unusual things as He did when in Palestine that He would not be on the front page of our daily papers? We wonder if the ordinary business man ever stops to think how much modern business owes to Jesus. : ..-".-.'Th^Jesus of the New Testament is Master of life, Master in life and death. It is important that we should appreciate this; but to forget that He was, at the same time, God manifest in the flesh working out the redemption of the race, is to miss the heart of the New Testament and to give us •another man and not the man Christ Jesus whom to know is life indeed. —J. M. M. —o— C hurch Q uarrels ’ ,:;The book which you so kindly gave me entitled, “Church Quarrels—How Ended,” I have found to be a splendid addition to my library and I heartily recommend it to every pastor, as it contains wholesome, constructive advice, put in a sane, sancti fied common sense way. All of us who have had pastorates, know some of the complicated problems that arise from time to time in the various departments of the Church. I speak of the book as one which I heartily recommend and it can be se cured- from the Biola Book Room for $1.50.—W. E, Pietsch. —o— I dentification T estament We take pleasure in recommending The Identification Testament which has just been published by Oxford University Press, This attractive vest-pocket volume derives its name from the fact that any one carrying a copy of it, with the identifi cation certificate properly filled out, is al ways identified as a Christian American. The pledge, the prayer, the two hymns and the silk American flag inserted on the in side of the front cover, are distinctive features that add significance to this Tes tament, which is unlike any now obtain- ' able. Rev. Wm. M. Curry, pastor of the Ninth Presbyterian Church of Philadel phia, is the writer of a new book that will be of value to pastors. This is en titled " The Pastor’s Corner.” It is com prised of short articles which were pub lished in the pastor’s corner of his church calendar. Dr. Charles R. Erdman, who writes the introduction, says: “These brief compositions are phrased, in terse and vivid terms ; they are characterized by quiet humor, practical wisdom and spir itual insight.” A wide range of."themes will be found. The pastors will find many helpful suggestions, not only for calen dar material, hut Sermons. In fact, the publication of these words of personal conviction and friendly advice to his peo ple will bring to many readers thoughts' that convey instruction; : courage and strength. The book is published by Re- vell at $1.50. ' ll' ¿ ip M H E -K . L. B. —6— " Pearls, Points and Parables” By Dr. F. E. Marsh Pearls, Points and Parables is another of those volumes by Dr. F. E. This is a new edition of a book that was published some two years ago and has proved to be one of the most popular books in the religious world. It is inter-

It must be a most unusual little book, for 9 church papers refused to advertise it, yet we received in first half of December orders for 3,800 from minis ters who had previously seen a copy. (same eight picture parables, every one of them a hard-hitting sermon. Speak ing of these two books, the reviewer for Bible Champion says: “ We do not know of another author who has pointed out the impossibilities and absurdities of trie theory (evolution) more keenly, and, to our mind, more invincibly." The Toadstool Among the-Tombs has 15 cartoons by clever artists. It is making plenty of trouble for preachers who discredit the Bible. If your ancestry is 100 percent human, it will delight you.
