RUSSELL RECREATION COMPLEX GOES TO LIBRARY BOARD

The options were weighed, and the costs have been counted. The Russell Township Council held a spe- cial meeting on August 31 to discuss which version of the facilities were to be included in the final layout of the Russell Recreation Complex. Each version of the facilities was detailed in the three-hour meeting, and then Council voted on a combination that made the most sense to them. Please note, all financial figures in this article are approxi- mate projections. The first facility considered was the hoc- key arena. Council had to decide whether to include one, two, or three hockey rinks, each with 200 seats and a walking track around one of them. 'PS UISFF SJOLT UIF JOJUJBM JOWFTUNFOU would be around $39,500,000, for two it would be just under $28,000,000, and for one it would be just over $16,200,000. Annual operating costs were projected at just under $4,500,000 for the three-rink facility, $2,400,000 for the two-rink facility, and $1,350,000 for the single-rink facility. Reve- nue was projected to be almost $2,300,000 for the three-rink facility, $1,250,000 for the two-rink facility, and just under $900,000 for the one-rink facility. The next facility considered was the pool. Council had to decide between an 8-lane pool with kiddie pool and sauna, a 6-lane pool with kiddie pool, or a 4-lane pool with kiddie pool. 'PSFJHIU MBOFT UIF JOJUJBM JOWFTUNFOU would be around $10,300,000, for six it would be just under $7,000,000, and for four it would be just over $7,500,000 million. Annual operating costs were projected at just under $600,000 for the 8-lane pool, just under $640,000 for the 6-lane pool, and $670,000 for the 4-lane pool. Revenue was projected to be $320,000 for the 8-lane pool, $340,000 for the 6-lane pool, and just under $440,000 for the 4-lane pool. Please note, these are the correct figures. During the meeting, Mayor Pierre Leroux explained that the size of the facility is not the only thing that affects cost, operating fees, and revenue. The third facility considered was a mul- tipurpose space. Councillors had to decide between a performing arts theatre, a gym- nasium with a stage, a gymnasium without a stage, or scrapping it in favor of a larger

'PSUIFMBSHFMJCSBSZ UIFJOJUJBMJOWFTUNFOU would be $7.6 million, for the medium library it would be $5.2 million, and for the small library it would be $4 million. Annual opera- ting costs were projected at $395k for the large library, $334k for the medium library, and $257k for the small library. Revenue was projected to be $215k for the large library, $177k for the small library, and $167k for the small library. ajouté aussi qu’il y a une baisse d’intérêt en général pour plusieurs raisons, soit «la perte de leur passion dans les arts parce qu’ils en font moins, la perte d’intérêt a cause du fait que c’était en ligne pendant longtemps, la perte d’intérêt à cause du manque de performance, la baisse d’inscriptions parce que plusieurs ont moins d’argent et que les arts/culture sont souvent la première chose à couper». Elle termine en souhaitant que « l’amour pour l’art et la culture reviennent avec les présentations publiques. Que les gens puissent retrouver la joie dans les choses extraordinaires comme les arts.».
Les mesures sanitaires mises en place en raison de la Covid ont eu impact sur pratiquement tous les domaines. La Maison des arts d’Embrun ne fait pas exception. Plusieurs cours, comme les cours de chat et de danse sont toujours dans le programme de la Maison. Par contre, la directrice géné- rale de la maison, Lisa Godard, a expliqué qu’en raison des règles sanitaires, la taille des groupes doit être réduite, ce qui diminue le budget auquel la Maison a droit. En 2021, c’est le vendredi 17 septembre qu’a lieu la Journée d’action contre la violence sexuelle faite aux femmes. Cet évènement vise à sensibi- liser la population aux agressions subies par les femmes et à soutenir celles qui en ont souffert en les invitant à dénoncer, si elles s’en sentent capables, leur agresseur. Vous avez été victime de violence sexuelle? Voici ce que vous pouvez faire. DEMANDEZ DE L’AIDE Si vous avez besoin d’une assistance immédiate, contactez directement les services de police. Pour recevoir un soutien psychologique, infor- mez-vous en appelant la ligne-ressource provin- ciale pour les victimes d’agression sexuelle au 1 888 933-9007. Vous pouvez aussi obtenir des renseignements et des explications sur les dé- marches de dénonciation de votre agresseur au- près de la police en communiquant avec le Direc- teur des poursuites criminelles et pénales (DPCP). VOYEZ UN MÉDECIN Sachez qu’il est possible d’effectuer des prélève- ments d’ADN durant les cinq jours succédant à
l’agression et qu’un examen médical dans les jours suivants peut encore révéler certaines lé- sions. Ce dernier vise également à vérifier votre santé physique et psychologique et à vous gui- der vers les ressources nécessaires. PARLEZ-EN À QUELQU’UN Une foule d’émotions (confusion, rage, tristesse, culpabilité, peur, etc.) peuvent vous assaillir après de tels évènements. Que vous choisissiez de dé- noncer l’acte ou non, parler de la situation peut vous faire sentir mieux. Selon votre préférence, vous pouvez vous tourner vers vos proches ou la ligne-ressource provinciale, par exemple. Vous vous sentez incapable d’en discuter? Notez sans tarder tous les détails de l’agression (date, heure, lieu, état de l’agresseur, gestes commis, paroles prononcées, etc.). Ils pourront vous être utiles si vous décidez de dénoncer votre agresseur dans le futur. Vous êtes témoin d’une agression sexuelle?
