Oral Health Care for People with Disabilities; You Have Changed How You See Now What Clive Friedman, DDS
This course will help the oral health professional evaluate and treatment plan individuals with disability from the psychosocial model vs the medical model. A number of tools that have been developed in conjunction with CDA will be briefly highlighted and explained with respect to their use. The course will be useful for experienced and novice practitioners, hygienists as well as assistants. Principles of trauma Informed care which include concepts of listening rather than just hearing and examples of scripted language that can be used will be shown and discussed. Learning Objectives: • Learn how to evaluate and treatment plan your patient with Disabilities using the ICF – a new paradigm • Understand and be more familiar with the Case Complexity and Transition Tools developed by CDA • Become familiar with the concept of Trauma Informed Care – what this means and how to proceed

Subsequently, he has practiced in private clinical practice for the last 40 years and taught both at both dental schools in Ontario. He continues to be active in organized dentistry and was past president of both the IADH and ADH. Dr. Friedman sits on the education committee of IADH and is a founding board member of CSDH. He sits on numerous committees of CSDH. Dr. Friedman has lectured extensively both internationally and locally, and published numerous articles and text chapters.
