Foundations of Corrective Exercise: Low Back Pain Prevention Back by popular demand! On Sunday, 17 July, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Personal Trainer Denny Pinch will reprise his seminar on how to prevent low back pain. The seminar will take place in the Group Exercise Studio at 1:00 PM. In this seminar you will learn a corrective exercise strategy of self-myofascial release techniques with a foam roller to break up trigger points in muscles which are doing too much work. After using the foam roller you will learn how to stretch those muscles to get them to relax and lengthen. Next, you learn exercises to activate muscles which are under active and not doing the job they should. You will teach them to turn back on again and work properly. The last step is to learn exercises that teach muscle groups to work together the way they are intended to work.

The $35 cost of this seminar includes your own foam roller which you can take home with you. This will help you relieve your low back pain by practicing at home the skills you learned in class. Register by clicking here .

Did You Know? In the early 19th Century, Anthony Fraser, a fourth generation descendent of a Scottish Laird (Lord) who lost his head at the Tower Of London after the “Rising 0f 1775”, built his residence, the Green Valley Manor, on the western slope of the valley along what is now Army Navy Drive. The Fraser property of about 1000 acres included the land that now constitutes the ANCC campus. In his will drafted in 1824 Fraser directed that a quarter acre of the property be set aside for a family cemetery. As time passed, maintenance of the cemetery has passed from landowner to landowner. The cemetery can be seen within the wrought iron fence just off the cart path between the White 5 green and the White 6 tee box. For more information, click here .
