L’est de l’Ontario devrait être déclaré zone rouge dès le début de la semaine prochaine, après que plus de 70 nou- veaux cas ont été signalés au cours du week-end. Cette hausse est plus du double de celle enregistrée la fin de semaine précédente, où 35 nouveaux cas avaient été signalés. Dix- sept des 71 nouveaux cas ont été signalés dans Prescott-Russell, principalement dans la municipalité de Russell. Russell Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped and charged a G1 driver allegedly driving at high speeds on St-Guillaume Road last week. In a statement, the OPP said the driver fled from police after they were seen “travelling in an erratic way at high speeds” at about 11:45 pm on March 15. How to reduce your risk of getting cancer
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, about four in 10 cancer cases can be prevented by adopting healthy lifestyle habits. This means you can take steps to reduce your risk of get- ting cancer. In honour of Daffodil Month, which is a national fundrai- sing campaign for cancer research and support services, here are some choices you can make that will put you on the path to healthy living. • Quit smoking. It’s estimated that 30 per cent of all cancer deaths in Cana- da are a result of smoking. Giving up this habit can reduce your risk of getting cancer. • Protect yourself from the sun. Skin cancer is one of the most com- mon types of cancer, but it’s also among the most preventable. Prac- tise sun safety by covering up, see- king shade, using sunscreen, putting on a hat and wearing sunglasses. • Maintain a healthy weight. You can reduce your risk for several types of cancer if you have a heal- thy body weight. Consult your doc-

Si aucune action n’est prise, cela pourrait se traduire par des dé- cès qui auraient pu être évités. ACTIONS INDIVIDUELLES La meilleure façon de soutenir les gens
atteints de cancer est de tout faire pour mettre fin à cette pandémie. Waste Management veut aider La municipalité de Russell à réduire la contamination par le recyclage. La première étape est que nous proposons une solution simple pour éliminer l’un des plus gros contaminants - les matières recyclables en sacs dans votre système de collecte. À compter du 5 avril, seuls les produits recyclables placés librement dans un bac de recyclage seront acceptés. Pourquoi? Les sacs en plastique contenant des matières recyclables interfèrent avec le fonctionnement du processus de recyclage. Ils ajoutent une étape supplémentaire qui nécessite plus de main-d’œuvre et d’équipements d’enveloppement, nécessitant un arrêt des machines plusieurs fois par jour pour retirer les sacs. Cela pose des risques pour la sécurité des travailleurs et augmente le coût du recyclage. Waste Management wants to help the Township of Russell reduce recycling contamination. As a first step, we are providing a straightforward solution to eliminate one of the biggest contaminants - bagged recyclables in your collection system. Effective April 5 only recyclables placed loosely in a recycling bin will be accepted. Why? Plastic bags containing recyclables interfere with how the recycling process works. They add an additional step, require more labor and wrap around equipment, requiring a shut-down of the machinery several times a day to remove the bags. This poses safety hazards for workers and increases the cost of recycling. How to level up your Easter egg hunt Do you want to surprise your kids for Easter this year? Here are a few ways to put a creative spin on the traditional chocolate egg hunt. • Draw a treasure map of your home with Xs to mark the spot of hidden Easter treats. • Hide plastic eggs filled with stickers, mini animal figurines, bouncy balls and other small toys. • Fill plastic eggs with silly instructions (hop like a bunny, chirp like a chick, etc.) that your kids must do to earn a candy. • Put tiny glow sticks inside plastic eggs and have your Easter egg hunt in the evening. • Send your kids on a scavenger hunt to find one of each type of hidden egg (a green one, a striped one, a blue one, etc.). • Leave written clues around the house that even- tually lead to a stash of chocolates. • Divide up pieces of a puzzle or Lego creation among the plastic eggs so it can be assembled once the hunt is over. • Fill plastic eggs with slips of paper that list a reward the finder gets (skip chores, stay up late, have a pizza night, etc.).

The tour of the building, which was set up to vaccinate those aged 80 and over, was intended to provide a glimpse of the vaccination process and what the wider public can expect when the time comes for their dose. In and out Patients enter the arena through a single entrance, visiting a screening station before moving on to a registration desk, where their appointment and name are confirmed. The residents are then taken through to the main arena floor itself, which is divided into vaccination stations, as well as pre- and post-vaccination waiting areas.
In ordinary times, arenas around the region would be filled with community sports stars and eager fans watching from the stands. But this is no ordinary year. The stands are roped off, sporting equipment has been swapped with tables and chairs, and masked residents wait in line for a dose of COVID-19 vaccine at mass immunization clinics. Six arenas in the region – at Rockland, )BXLFTCVSZ $BTTFMNBO $PSOXBMM 8JO - chester and Alexandria – have been trans- formed into mass vaccination centres this month as the project to immunize the wider population ramps up. Thirty-seven such clin- ics have been planned across the region to the first week of April, with more expected

Unlike in prior immunization campaigns, capacity is limited due to the ease with which the virus spreads. Both the vaccination sta- tions and the waiting areas are spaced out to limit contact between patients during the process. Once a person receives their vac- cine, they must wait in a designated area to ensure there are no immediate side-effects from the dose, before they are permitted to leave through a separate exit. Logistical challenge The Rockland arena will eventually be equipped to handle 20 vaccinators at once, but on Friday the capacity was limited to maximise accessibility for the seniors receiv- ing doses. Job overview: • The operator/labourer will be responsible for operating a hydro excavation truck, various equipment used in the maintenance of water and wastewater systems including tractors and specialized equipment. • This position will be required to perform manual labour tasks to assist water operations staff in daily duties. Job requirements : • Valid category DZ driver’s license; • Experience with tractors and other various heavy equipment (backhoe etc.); • Experience operating a hydro excavation truck; • Experience flushing sanitary sewer infrastructure; • Experience working in confined spaces; • Mechanically inclined and welding experience; • Must be able to respond within 30 minutes to garage in order to respond to the minimum required time during emergency situations; • High school diploma or post-secondary; • Confined space certification; • Chain saw certificate; • Traffic control Certification; • Have a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificates; • Have a valid WHMIS certificate and Extinguisher Certificate;
• L’opérateur/ouvrier sera responsable d’opérer un camion hydro-excavateur, divers équipements utilisés pour l’entretien des systèmes d’eau et des eaux usées, y compris des tracteurs et de l’équipement spécialisé. • Ce poste exigera des tâches manuelles pour aider le personnel des opérations de l’eau dans les tâches quotidiennes.
