&/#3&'r#3*&'4 SPEED LIMIT REQUESTS The public works committee for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) has received three requests from residents in Casselman, Russell Township, and Alfred-Plantagenet Township for rural speed limit changes. The requests concern Ste-Marie Road north of the Route 400 intersection in Russell Township, County Road 3 between Route 500 West and the Highway 417 overpass near Cassel- man, and the section of County Road 9 entering the Village of Plantagenet. All requests are 50 kilometres an hour speed limits. The committee will forward its recommendations for the February 20 UPCR council session.

Staying active and healthy is essential if you want to make the most of your retirement. Here are some tips to help you enjoy your retirement for years to come. 1. Remain active. Physical activity is not only beneficial to your health; it’s also good for themorale and great for relax- ing. Golf, gardening, swimming, walking, dancing, and cycling are all simple options. Find activities you enjoy and do them on a regular basis. 2. Take care of your health. Go for regular checkups and screenings for diseases such as osteoporosis, breast cancer, or prostate cancer. Don’t forget to have your eyes, hearing, and teeth examined as well. Quitting smoking would also be a good idea. 3. Eat healthy. Ensure that your diet includes enough protein, fibre, calcium, and vitaminD. Refer toCanada’s FoodGuide for recommendations related to your age group. 4. Sleep well. To promote better sleep, avoid caffeine and cig- arettes before going to bed, develop a bedtime routine, and try to always go to bed and get up at the same time, including on weekends. 5. Le voyage permettra aux élèves et aux membres du personnel qui participent d’ouvrir leurs horizons et leur monde aux autres. « Nous n’allons pas changer le monde, nous allons changer notre monde », a déclaré Jonathan Roy, organisateur du voyage. « Ce voyage a comme objectif de permettre aux élèves d’ouvrir leurs horizons et changer leur façon de voir la vie. The Family Day long weekend was a good one for the Clarence Creek Castors with two more wins for them in the NCJHL schedule. The Castors crowned the Bytown Royals 6-4 last Friday in Ottawa with Patrick Lemay and Samuel Gaudet (2) each scoring two goals for Clarence Creek. Popping in singles for the Castors were Connor Head-Smith and Nathan Melée. Assisting on the goals were Melée, Tyler Baker, Aiden Cannell, Samuel Gaudet (22), Thomas Lowry, and Sam Paquette. Corey

Saint-Isidore Saint-Isidore won two of its three latest games in the NCJHL schedule. One makeup game set for February 12 against Vankleek Hill had to be postponed again because of last week’s snowstorm. The February 11 match in Chesterville against North Dundas finished 8-6 for Saint-Isidore. Mathieu Grandmont punched in a pair of goals for Saint-Isidore. Scoring singles were Jakob Brunette, Miguel Crispin, Tyler Druce, Kevin Howson, Alexis Leclerc, and Patrick Ranger. Assisting on the goals were Grandmont, Druce, Zackary Bougie, Philippe Burden, Patrick Charlebois, and Frédérik Laflèche. Dawson Irving guarded the net. Kyle Collette scored a pair of goals for North Dundas, Tallying singles were Pierce Egan, Justin Lefebvre, Hugo Lusignan, and Connor Roth. Assisting on the goals were Egan, Lefebvre, Lusignan, Roth, Brodie Barkley, Matthew Cowley, Brad Nash, Zachary Parent, Carter Tait, and William Watson. Caleb Gervais and Reilly Tondreau shared goal-keeping duty. Saint-Isidore clipped the Gatineau-Hull Volant 4-3 in the long weekend Friday game with Kevin Howson scoring a hat trick and Tyler Druce popping in a single for Saint- Isidore. Assists came from Jérémie Cardinal, Mathieu Des Ruisseaux, and Simon Hupé, with Marc-Olivier Bastien in the net. Saturday night at Vankleek Hill, the Cougars hosted and beat Saint-Isidore 7-2. Nikolas Ayotte scored a pair of goals for the Cougars with singles going in the Saint- Isidore net from Nicolas Castonguay, Tyler Dopelhamer, Vincent Huneault, Jonathan Leblanc, and Keean McEachern. Assisting on the goals were Ayotte, Dopelhamer, McEachern, Shayne Allen, Justin Labrosse. Zacharie Leblanc, Zakary Phaneuf, and Jacob Trempe. Alexander Labrèche guarded the net. Vankleek Hill It has been a good week for the Vankleek Hill Cougars in the NCJHL with two wins to add to their regular season tally plus beating the South Grenville Rangers in the Showdown series over the Family Day long weekend. Last week’s snow storm situation postponed the February 12 makeup game between Vankleek Hill and Saint-Isidore. That game will be rescheduled again. Last Friday night at home, for the start of the Family Day long weekend, the Cougars tamed the Morrisburg Lions 7-1. Ryan Allen punched in a pair of goals against Morrisburg. Scoring singles for Vankleek Hill were Nikolas Ayotte, Justin Labrosse, Trystan Lavoie, Jonathan Leblanc, and Keean McEachern. Assisting on the goals were Allen, Ayotte, Lavoie, Leblanc, Samuel Lacroix, Nicolas Castonguay, Vincent Huneault, Zacharie Leblanc, and Danny Plourde-Grenon. Frederick Durocher guarded the net. « Nous avons bien joué et nous étions en plein contrôle du match », a fait valoir l’entraineur des Nats, Dan Sauvé. « Came- ron Scrivens a été le héros avec un but incroyable en prolongation pour nous donner la victoire. » Pembroke donne du fil à retordre Les joueurs de Rockland se sont ren- dus au Memorial Centre de Pembroke afin d’affronter les Lumber Kings, le 17 février dernier. Scrivens, aidé de Smith et Cole Craft, a marqué le premier, donnant l’avance aux Nats en première période. Mais celle-ci a été de courte durée, puisque quelques minutes à peine après le but, Jacob Collins, aidé d’Alex DiCarlo et d’Ethan Heidepriem, a à son tour marqué, égalisant le pointage. Nicholas Chartrand a compté pour Rockland en deuxième période, aidé de Griffin McGregor et le capitaine Drew Shields. Pembroke à néanmoins réussi, encore une fois, à créer l’égalité en troisième période, à la suite d’un but de Collins, aidé de Heidepriem. Aucune des deux équipes n’a réussi à remporter le match lors de la période de prolongation. La joute s’est donc terminée par des tirs de barrage. Malheureusement pour Rockland, Connor Warnholtz de Pembroke a été le seul joueur à déjouer le gardien des Nats Giacobbo. Les Nationals occupent toujours la troisième place de leur division, derrière
Les deux derniers matchs des Nationals de Rockland se sont terminés en temps supplémentaire, leur accordant donc trois points. Les Nats affrontaient les Bears de Smiths Falls le 15 février dernier, au Memorial Centre de Smiths Falls. L’offensive de Rockland a vite fait de prendre par surprise les Bears. Simon Labelle ainsi que William Collins, aidé de Daniel Menges, ont tous deux marqué, tôt en première période. Joey Warywoda, des Bears, a à son tour compté, aidé de ses coéquipiers, Jacob Cuffley et Fletcher Anderson. Un seul but a été accordé lors de la deuxième période. C’est Benjamin Pruneau des Nationals qui a marqué, aidé de Connor Matton et Jean-Sylvain Boyer. Les attaquants de Smiths Falls, Cuffley, aidé d’Anderson et Peter White ainsi que Reid Russett, aidé de Bruce Coltart et Warywoda, ont égalisé le pointage lors de la troisième période. C’est donc lors de la première période de prolongation que les Nats ont remporté la partie. Cameron Scrivens a agi à titre de champion, marquant en début de période, aidé de Gunnar Smith et Collins. Les Nationals ont remporté la partie quatre à trois.

The team, made up of 11 th and 12 th grade students, has finished its regular season undefeated and at the top of its division. “We are first in our division,” said coach David MacKinnon. “The key to our success this year has been our defense and our team work.” The coach highlighted that his whole team works well as a team. “We have several
