GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WINNER: Commercial Construction Project HENRY BROTHERS ADVANCED MANUFACTURING & INNOVATION CENTRE, NEWTOWNABBEY A standout commercial project for Henry Brothers, the AMIC Factory of the Future represents a major investment in Northern Ireland’s manufacturing capability. Supporting innovation, skills development and economic growth, the £40m facility was developed and delivered in close collaboration with the design team, specialist supply chain and client - QUB in partnership with UU and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. The facility includes two engineering halls, clean rooms, laboratories, a 250-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, offices, breakout spaces, a gym and café, alongside EV charging infrastructure, cycle facilities and landscaped external areas. Innovative construction techniques included advanced design technology within clean room construction and fibre-reinforced concrete floor designs.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WINNER: Social/Community Project NORTHSTONE CITY QUAYS GARDENS, BELFAST Northstone’s transformation of a brownfield site into a public space worthy of any city saw judges award City Quays Gardens with Social/Community Project of the Year. Part of a wider City Quays Development Masterplan, the project combined design quality, sustainability and community benefit with outstanding collaborative delivery. The project replaced hardstanding with landscaped gardens featuring amphitheatre seating, event lawns, activity areas and bespoke artworks, using historic granite cobbles in new footpaths. With a focus on sustainability, including a 20,000L rainwater-harvesting system and biodiversity enhancements, City Quays Gardens is the first public space in NI to achieve the One Planet Living benchmark for sustainable landscape architecture.
