Les contrats à terme sur les crypto- monnaies doivent-ils faire partie du portefeuille d’investissement d’une municipalité ? Les crypto-monnaies font désormais partie du marché de la spéculation à terme dans le commerce mondial des devises. Un membre du conseil de Hawkesbury, qui a une expérience pratique des affaires, se demande si la municipalité devrait envisa- ger d’ajouter les contrats à terme sur les crypto-monnaies à son propre portefeuille d’investissement. «Juste une très petite quantité», a déclaré le conseiller Antonios Tsourounakis, lors de la séance du conseil du 28 juin. Le conseiller Tsourounakis a souligné qu’il ne pense pas que la municipalité devrait acheter un grand bloc de crypto-monnaies. Un ancien médecin de l’hôpital général de Hawkesbury et du dis- trict, accusé de meurtre au premier degré, a été libéré sous caution. Brian Nadler, 35 ans, de Dollard-des- Ormeaux, au Québec, a été libéré sous caution de 10 000 $ lundi. Dans le cadre des conditions de sa libération sous caution, il doit rester au Canada et demeurer à l’adresse de sa caution. Il ne peut non plus être en contact avec le personnel de l’hôpital ou les patients qu’il a traités. Sa licence médicale a été suspendue. Nadler a été accusé de meurtre au premier degré le 25 mars dernier pour le décès d’Albert Poidinger, un homme de 89 ans de Pointe-Claire, qui était un patient de l’hôpital. Il clame son innocence depuis son arrestation.

Les cinq personnes pourraient être liées à un groupe qui se fait appeler Les Farfadaas ! et qui est impliqué dans la contestation des mesures de santé publique du gouvernement du Québec pendant la pandémie. Les cinq accusés ont enregistré une vidéo d’eux- mêmes à l’intérieur du palais de justice de Montréal avant leur comparution devant le juge Costom. Le groupe de cinq personnes comprend Steve Charland, 48 ans, et Karol Tardif, 52 ans, un couple de Grenville-sur-la-Rouge. Charland est mentionné dans la vidéo par une personne faisant de la narration hors caméra. Le 13 mars dernier, plusieurs personnes ont créé un embouteillage avec leurs véhi- cules à l’entrée du tunnel dans le cadre d’une manifestation anti-masquage. Lors de leur comparution devant le tribunal, tous les accusés ont plaidé non coupable de méfait et de complot visant à fermer le tunnel du pont. Ils n’étaient pas représentés par un avocat. L’affaire est maintenant reportée par le tribunal en septembre.

Champlain Township has appointed a new director of public works and civil engineering technologist. Sebastien Levesque was appointed as director of public works earlier this year. His predecessor, James McMahon, resigned to take a position in the public sector after 14 years at the township. Levesque, who was born and raised in Longueuil in Quebec, lives in Vankleek Hill. He worked as a continuous improvement MFBEBOEQSPKFDUNBOBHFS GPS8FC(FOBU Orica over the past 14 years before tak- ing the position at Champlain Township. Prior to his work at Orica, Levesque was a process engineer and quality manager at 11(*OEVTUSJFTGSPNUP The director of public works oversees the maintenance and enhancement of the township’s transportation infrastructure, sewer services, facilities and the dry waste disposal site.
