Priority 1: Central Patrol Leases (Jones ex- pires 4/30/22 and Hemphill expires 5/31/20) and Communications Center— Long Term Solution Purpose There are two existing Central Patrol Division leased facilities at 501 Jones Street and 1289 Hemphill Street. Both of these facilities are high cost leases that expire in 2022 and 2020, respectively. This pro- posed project will eliminate the high cost leases and consolidate Central Patrol Division into a single facil- ity. A new facility to replace the existing 3000 W. Bolt Street Communications building is necessary due the current inadequate size and the anticipated population and call volume growth. A new facility will need to include space for a minimum of 32 call

taking positions, 15 Radio positions, 6 PIC positions, administrative office space for supervisors, an ap- propriately sized conference room, and a training room to facilitate on-site classroom training for em- ployees. This new facility could allow the Communi- cations back-up site located in the basement of the Public Safety Courts to be relocated to Bolt. Current- ly the back-up site is space prohibited. As the De- partment adds radio personnel positions and new patrol divisions, call taking positions are diverted to dispatch positions. The back-up site currently has space for 16 call taking positions, 9 Radio positions, and 0 PIC positions. The location of all future patrol division facilities should be based on the following criteria: centrally located based on existing and projected population and calls for service, access to major arterials, size, available utilities, visibility, and compatible uses.
