NOW healthy

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

We’ve Made It Easier to Get Support Everyone feels sad or worried sometimes. But if these feelings last a long time, get worse, or make daily life hard, it may be time to talk to a counselor or therapist. When you need mental health care, getting help quickly matters. Good news: It’s easier to get mental health support when you need it. Use our online Find a Doctor tool to connect with care. We’ve added more providers to our list of counselors and therapists. We check the list often to keep it up to date. And you can now search by condition – like depression, anxiety, or trauma – to find the right provider for you. We’ve also created a special behavioral health team, with their own phone number, trained to connect you with counselors and therapists. In many cases, they can help you find a counselor within a couple of weeks. You are not alone. We are here to help. Need help finding mental health support? Call our behavioral health team. 1-800-247-1441 , extension 9 Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Need help right now? If you or someone you care about is in a crisis, you can call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 . Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In an emergency, call 911 .

Schedule Your Wellness Visit Now, Stay Healthier All Year Making time for your yearly appointment makes a difference in the months ahead

Spring is a time of renewal – a great time to focus on your health and to schedule your annual wellness visit with your primary care provider (PCP). A yearly checkup can catch small problems early so you’ll stay healthier as time goes by. It’s also a good opportunity to have a talk with your PCP and ask questions about your health. This visit is available at no cost to you . What to bring with you: Your Fidelis Care member ID card A list of medications you take (or the bottles themselves) Notes about any symptoms, concerns, or changes in your health you want to talk about

Been to the hospital? When you must go to a hospital, your PCP needs to know so they can care for you afterward. Be sure to let them know right away.

How to find a healthcare provider Use our Find a Doctor tool or call us if you need help: 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547) , TTY: 711.

Protect Your Family from Lead Poisoning If you live in an older home, take these steps to stay healthy Lead poisoning can be serious, especially for children under age 6 and pregnant people. Lead is often found in older homes, in peeling paint and household dust. Ways to prevent contact with lead • Keep children away from peeling or chipping paint • Wash children’s hands and toys often

• Clean floors, window sills, and other dusty surfaces with soap and water • Use cold tap water for drinking, cooking, and mixing baby formula Get children tested

Children should be tested for lead at ages 1 and 2, and other times depending on your living situation, even if they seem healthy. Your child’s healthcare provider can use a simple blood test to find lead early, before it causes harm. Have questions? If you have questions about lead testing, your child’s health, or concerns about your home, talk with your child’s healthcare provider or call us for support: 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547), TTY: 711.

Just Call Transportation is available to Medicaid members at no cost If you are a Fidelis Care Medicaid member and need help getting to and from medical and dental appointments, transportation may be available at no cost to you . Transportation is arranged through Medical Answering Services (MAS). Use Antibiotics the Right Way Stay healthier knowing when to take – and not to take – antibiotics Antibiotics are medications that treat bacterial infections, such as strep throat or some urinary tract infections. They do not work for illnesses caused by viruses, like colds, flu, COVID-19, and other illnesses. Taking antibiotics for viruses will not help. In fact, they can cause side effects or make it less likely the antibiotics will work when needed in the future. How to use antibiotics safely • Only take antibiotics if your healthcare provider prescribes them. • Take them for as long as your healthcare provider says to

– even if you start to feel better. • Do not skip doses or stop early.

• Call your healthcare provider right away if you have side effects like difficulty breathing, a rash, or stomach pain. • Please inform your doctors and outpatient pharmacy of any diagnosed allergies to antibiotics your healthcare providers have made to ensure your safety.
