WASTE DAY CANCELLED A hazardous waste collection day scheduled for next month in Russell Township has been cancelled due to the province’s stay-at-home order. The event was due to be held on May 6, but was cancelled to prevent a gathering at the site. Residents aged 40 and over are eligible to book appointments for the AstraZeneca vaccine in pharmacies, as eastern Ontario’s case count continues to climb. From Tuesday, those born in 1981 or earlier were eligible to book appointments at pharmacies for their first dose of the vaccine. Previously, the vaccine was available only to those aged 55 and over. Depuis lundi, des points de contrôle frontaliers ont été mis en place aux ponts et aux traversiers afin de faire res- pecter les nouvelles mesures COVID-19 du gouvernement provincial. Le gouvernement Ford a limité les dépla- cements entre l’Ontario et le Québec aux voyages essentiels dans le cadre d’une série de nouvelles restrictions depuis vendredi dernier et le Québec a emboité le pas pour restreindre les déplacements interprovinciaux alors que la situation sanitaire de l’Ontario ne s’améliore point. Le premier ministre Doug Ford a annoncé que des postes de contrôle seraient mis en place à tous les postes frontaliers provinciaux à partir de lundi à 0 h 01. Le déploiement de barrage routier permanent n’est pas prévu pour la région, mais seront en place surtout en périodes achalandées. Les résidents d’une province comme de l’autre ne sont autorisés à se déplacer entre elles que pour le travail, les soins médicaux, le transport de marchandises ou l’exercice des droits autochtones issus de traités. A donation of LED lights to the Russell Public Library will help the township celebrate and mark special occasions. The lights, which have a colour-changing feature that can be managed with a mobile application, were intended to bring joy to the village during the holiday season, but would also be used to help promote awareness days and other events throughout the year. It’s with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Simone Sullivan, a loving wife, devoted mother, and exceptional grandmother, on April 17th, 2021, at age 86. Simone leaves behind her cherished husband of 66 years, Tom Sullivan; her beloved daughter, Shirley Michaud (Charles Michaud) and her cat, Fluffy. She joins her youngest daughter, Joyce Piovesan, in heaven above. Simone loved her 4 granddaughters, Geneviève, Alexis, Brittany and Rachel, and 4 great-grand-children, Emma-Jane, Christian, Ruston and Samuel, dearly. She is also survived by one brother, Gerald, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her. She’s predeceased by both her father and mother, Honoré Ouellette and Malvina Picard, and 7 brothers and sisters. Simone was born in 1934, the 8th of 9 children, in Edmundston, New Brunswick. She moved to Ottawa in 1953, where she met and married the love of her life, Tom, in 1954. Simone was a proud and supportive Army wife, who loved travelling throughout Europe and curling in many different countries. Simone was an excellent seamstress who made beautiful one-of-a-kind clothes for her daughters. But don’t let that fool you. Simone could shoot a rifle as a member of the Petawawa Rifle Club and showed no fear when she went skydiving at the age of 78! Simone was a faithful member of the Catholic Women’s League in Russell and supported her husband who’s a 4 th degree knight with the Russell Knights of Columbus. We would like to thank the staff at Caressant Care Bourget for the kindness and care they showed Simone and Tom, over the past 3 years. Due to the pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, Russell, Ontario, at a later date. Vos responsabilités consistent à effectuer un éventail de tâches telles que: • Lire et interpréter des schémas, des plans de circuits et des devis descriptifs; • Installer les panneaux de distribution, poser des conduits en surface ou dans les murs, planchers et plafonds ou souterrains, passer les fils et faire les raccordements; • Effectuer tous les travaux d’installation, de réfection, de modification, de réparation et d’entretien de tout système électrique.
