The township’s council voted at their April meeting to allow staff to approve appli- cations for the temporary extensions on private property, provided the licencees submit a written request and site plan showing the layout, and appropriate distancing between tables and chairs. Temporary patio extensions on munici- pal property could also be presented to the council for consideration. L’amélioration de la connectivité Internet et l’importance du développe- ment économique demeurent la priorité des citoyens malgré un taux de satisfac- tion élevé à l’égard des services, selon les premiers résultats d’une enquête menée auprès des résidents et des entreprises du canton de Champlain. Un sondage a été envoyé aux résidents et aux entreprises dans le cadre de l’élabora- tion d’un plan stratégique par le canton. La firme de consultants MDB Insight a reçu 290 réponses - 206 de la part des résidents et 84 de la part des entreprises, qui ont montré un haut degré de satisfaction à l’égard des services de la municipalité. Les premiers résultats présentés lors d’un atelier du conseil mardi dernier ont montré que 84 % des répondants étaient satisfaits des services fournis par le canton de Champlain. Cinquante-deux pour cent des répondants ont coché plutôt satisfaits, tandis que 32 % se sont dits très satisfaits. Le déneigement, les services publics, la qualité des parcs, les services d’incendie et l’entretien des routes figurent parmi les services les mieux notés dans l’enquête. Les programmes pour les personnes âgées, le musée, le développement économique, les services d’eau et la connectivité Internet figurent parmi les services les moins bien notés. Les entreprises étaient les plus satis- faites des routes et autoroutes provinciales, des routes et rues locales et du service cellulaire, mais trouvaient insuffisants les programmes d’études postsecondaires, la formation professionnelle et les programmes de financement pour l’amélioration des entreprises et des propriétés. André Roy, conseiller du quartier de L’Orignal, a déclaré que tout énoncé de mission devait préciser la raison pour laquelle ces services étaient offerts. «Vous voulez encourager une communauté saine; vous voulez encourager votre communauté à s’épanouir, a-t-il dit. The Sunshine List has been annual event since 1996 due to the Public Sector Disclosure Act of the Mike Harris Progres- sive Conservative government. It lists all employees in the public sector with annual salaries of $100,000 or more during the past year. That includes civil service workers for the province and for municipal govern- ments, along with school district employees, hospital workers, and all those employed with non-government agencies in the public sector.
