WELCOME
November 2026
Shalom, As we prepare for another World Travel Market here in London, I find myself reflecting on the challenges of the past three years, but also on the resilience, dedication and commitment of the people who make up our tourism industry. It has certainly not been an easy period. The challenges facing tourism to Israel remain significant, and we know that rebuilding confidence and bringing visitors back will take time. Yet, as we look towards 2027, I feel a genuine sense of cautious optimism. Over the past year, we have been working closely with our partners across the British travel industry, maintaining existing relationships, building new ones and exploring opportunities to bring Israel back into the conversation. What has been particularly encouraging is the willingness of so many partners to remain engaged, even during difficult times. Travel agents, tour operators, airlines and media partners continue to show interest in Israel, and we are seeing opportunities to turn these conversations into meaningful cooperation. Of course, interest does not always translate immediately into bookings. We remain realistic about the challenges ahead, but we also recognise the importance of laying the groundwork now for the recovery we all hope to see. This year’s World Travel Market, taking place from 3 to 5 November, offers another important opportunity. Together with our colleagues and partners from Israel, we will be showcasing our country, reconnecting with industry professionals and creating new business opportunities, with a clear focus on strengthening confidence in Israel as a travel destination. Beyond WTM, we are developing new media partnerships, engaging with travel professionals and preparing familiarisation visits and industry initiatives that will allow people to experience Israel firsthand. We believe there is no substitute for seeing Israel with your own eyes, meeting its people and experiencing the country beyond the headlines. This belief continues to guide much of our work. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to our friends and partners, both in Israel and here in the UK. To our colleagues in Israel, who have shown remarkable dedication throughout these challenging years, and to our British partners, many of whom have continued to support Israel and maintain their commitment to the destination — thank you. Your friendship, professionalism and continued support mean a great deal to us and play an important role in moving our industry forward. As we approach 2027, I am hopeful about the opportunities ahead and confident in what we can achieve by continuing to work together. The road to recovery may still be long, but we are moving forward together. I look forward to seeing many of you at WTM and continuing our shared efforts to bring visitors back to Israel. Warm regards,
Michael Ben-Baruch Director, UK & Ireland Israel Government Tourist Office

The Ancient city of Acre has become a Space for Contemporary Art
Welcome to Israel: Rebuilding Connectivity and Warmth for Canadian Travelers
Taimur Mansour has stepped into the role of Consul and Director of Tourism for Canada at the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT)
The ancient city of Acre in northern Israel has been buzzing in recent days as hundreds of Israeli and international artists have brought various performance art forms to the city’s streets and historical buildings, attracting tens of thousands of visitors
A s Israel looks toward the future of tourism, a newly appointed leadership in North America is laying the groundwork to welcome international visitors back to the heart of the Middle East. Taimur Mansour has stepped into the role of Consul and Director of Tourism for Canada at the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT). Operating from Toronto, Mansour is embarking on a strategic mission to rebuild traveler confidence, revitalize direct air connectivity, and remind global travel enthusiasts of the vibrant, welcoming daily life that awaits them across Israel. Mansour brings a rich, multifaceted background to this vital position. A member of Israel’s Druze community and fluent in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, he previously served as Director of the Media and Campaigns Department at the Ministry of Tourism in Jerusalem, where he managed global public relations and major marketing initiatives. Having also worked as a professional
tour guide, Mansour offers a deeply personal, hands-on perspective on the country’s diverse cultural tapestry. His primary focus for the Canadian market—which saw nearly 100,000 visitors in 2019—is to foster sustainable long-term growth by working hand- in-hand with travel advisors, airlines, and industry partners. A major cornerstone of this renewal is the recovery of direct travel routes between North America and Israel. In a promising step for international access, Air Canada is scheduling the resumption of its Tel Aviv service out of Toronto starting November 30. Mansour emphasizes that establishing strong, reliable flight options is crucial to making travel seamless for those eager to experience the destination firsthand. Alongside enhanced airlift, the Ministry is prioritizing close collaboration with travel advisors, ensuring they have accurate, up- to-date insights to guide clients seeking authentic and memorable journeys.

Israeli Ministry of Tourism completes Ashdod marina pier expansion
The Israeli Ministry of Tourism confirmed that it has deployed 1.68 M USD to anchor an infrastructural expansion of Ashdod’s northern marina pier structured across two distinct operational zones to manage different types of foot traffic. The structural overhaul required removing legacy fencing, installing safety railings, and implementing heavy rockwork to reinforce the sea walls separating the public thoroughfare from the active marina. Furthermore, the architectural blueprint introduced a bi-level separation, intentionally cordoning off a lower tier to safely facilitate maritime school activities away from the primary pedestrian flow.
J ake ichman, Foreign Media Advisor to the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, told that the development physically expands the city’s coastal infrastructure. “The 550m project expands the city’s coastal promenade and includes upgraded paths, lighting, shaded areas and seating overlooking the sea and marina,” Fichman noted.

Ashdod has one of the most beautiful coastlines in Israel, and its seven beaches carry the international Blue Flag,” The Ashdod Municipality stated in a press release. “Our responsibility is to continue cultivating this asset and developing a high- quality and inviting public space alongside it. The northern pier is another step
in strengthening Ashdod as a tourism city and in connecting the city with the sea.” “The opening of the northern pier is part of an ongoing process of developing Ashdod’s coastline,” Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Ashdod Tourism Company, Shimon Katznelson, said. “We are connecting the promenade, the beaches and the marina, and creating more places where residents and visitors can walk, sit and enjoy the sea.” Katznelson also highlighted future developments, confirming that work on Lido Beach is ongoing and expected to be completed soon. Magdala Hotel: Where History, Nature and Spirituality Meet
A New Culinary Destination Coming to Magdala Magdala is expanding its offering with a new restaurant. It is an investment of approximately NIS 25 million and one of the most significant developments at the complex since its establishment. Scheduled to open in 2027, the two-story restaurant will seat approximately 700 guests and become the hotel's main dining venue. It will significantly expand Magdala's capacity to host large groups, pilgrims, conferences and special events. The restaurant is set within the Magdala complex, beside the archaeological park and Duc in Altum, and overlooks the Sea of Galilee. Architect Verónica de Dios Puertas designed the building to complement Magdala's character, bringing hospitality, cuisine, heritage and spirituality together in one destination.
On the shores of the Sea of Galilee, Magdala Hotel & Visitor Center stands beside the excavated remains of ancient Magdala, a thriving Jewish town in the 1st century AD. The complex brings together history, heritage, nature and spirituality, set against sweeping views of the lake and Mount Arbel. From the moment guests arrive, the architecture and design blend contemporary elegance with ancient heritage. The result is modern hospitality rooted in the history of the region, for visitors from Israel and around the world. Guests can explore the archaeological park of ancient Magdala, believed to be the hometown of Mary Magdalene. They can also visit Duc in Altum, the spiritual center at the heart of the Magdala complex, on the water's edge.

The grand highlight of the season arrives on November 27, 2026, with the Eilat International Desert
Marathon, organized in partnership with the Eilat Municipality. As Israel’s only marathon held entirely in a desert setting and officially recognized by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), this world-class event draws thousands of global athletes each year. Starting from the vibrant Eilat promenade, the course winds through dramatic mountains, desert valleys, and the picturesque Red Sea coast, offering distances for all levels—5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and the full 42.2 km marathon. Beyond the finish line, visitors can enjoy Eilat’s sunny beaches, luxury resorts, and vibrant marine life, making it the ultimate warm-weather sports escape.
These incredible events follow the season’s opening runs, including the moving Race of Hope held in the Western Negev and the festive Beaujolais Race through the Gezer vineyards, where participants ran in colorful costumes while enjoying local wine tastings. Together, these events showcase the resilience, beauty, and warm hospitality of the country. Whether you are aiming for a personal best on an AIMS- certified marathon course or simply looking to run through breathtaking natural reserves, Israel’s autumn race series promises an inspiring journey through history, nature, and community.

THE OLD CITY OF AKKO INVITES YOU TO DISCOVER ITS SECRETS ABOVE GROUND AND BELOW
Old Akko (Acre) is a port city situated on a peninsula on the Mediterranean coast in northern Israel. It is known for its well-preserved old city walls. A visit to this ancient city is an important part of the Holy Land experience and one of Israel’s main tourist destinations. Currently home to thousands of residents, Akko is a study of contrasts – the convergence of East and West, modernity and antiquity, beauty and ruins. Known for centuries as the gateway to the Holy Land due to its location as a port of entry for international dignitaries and trade, Akko provides a unique glimpse into the Crusader and Ottoman periods in the region. The subterranean crusader city was revealed and restored under the Ottoman city above. This extraordinary phenomenon was awarded World Heritage Site by UNESCO. POINTS OF INTEREST: The Knights Halls A 5,000-year old story unfolds inside the halls of the citadel - the museum displays and films projected on the walls tell the story of the crusades. During this tour, each visitor receives a guiding device, and can choose one of 10 different languages. The Hospitaller Order, which thrived in Jerusalem during the First Crusader Kingdom (1099-1187) transferred its headquarters to Akko during the Second Crusader Kingdom (1191-1291). The Hospitallers expanded their headquarters and rebuilt the site,
which consisted of two to three floors around a central court as well as underground sections. The Templars Tunnel The Templars were a military-monastic order who – in the name of the pope – aided pilgrims and the ailing coming from Europe to visit the holy sites of the Land of Israel. MORE POINTS OF INTEREST: The colorful Market Street and Bazaars are the main thoroughfare of the Old City, running from north to south. One cannot visit the city without tasting the delicious dishes at the wonderful Chef Restaurants and paying a visit at the unique Boutique Hotels. A ferry from Akko to Haifa and from Haifa to Akko is a special experience that offers tourists the chance to enjoy the spectacular views of the cities by sea (times being subject to weather condition). There are Churches, Mosques and Synagogue in Old Akko. Some of them are opened to visits. The “Or Torah” Synagogue in the new city is a site worth seeing. So is the “Al Basha” Turkish Bath and the Seraya, a structure built during Turkish rule in Akko, in the late 18th century, where the offices of the civilian regime officials were located. It is also recommended to visit the galleries in the Old City and the “Okashi” Art Museum as well as the “Treasures in the Walls” Museum.
New in the Knights Halls – “ARCO” A spectacular Video Mapping Night Show - an international Video Mapping level, in the Crusader Fortress courtyard, with innovative technology, spectacular colors, original melodies and sights that will leave you in awe! The show will take both adults and children on a historical journey. This completely language-free experience delivers an unforgettable evening of wonder for visitors of all ages.
