La Cour d’appel a refusé d’entendre une requête de Marc-André Le Gris, de Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, relativement à un jugement rendu en mai dernier par la Cour supérieure. Le juge Mark Schrager a déclaré, dans son jugement rendu le 23 août dernier, qu’aucun fait soulevé par M. Le Gris ne justifiait la permission d’appeler de la décision de la Cour supérieure. Hill’s most popular late-summer festivals, courtesy of Excellent Events. Dozens of kiosks along sidewalks on both sides of the street offered a variety of freshly-cooked, grilled, barbecued, stir-fried, or baked treats for sampling and snacking. Other booths provided browsing and buying opportuni- ties for jewelry, made-at-home local spices, holistic health products, and other wares, along with information on community clubs, projects, and special events. Local band, 50 Proof, provided live music with true-to-life cover versions of classic rock and blues, ranging from The Band to the Rolling Stones.
Main Street Vankleek Hill was packed from sidewalk to sidewalk Sunday for the annual Festival of Flavours. “We love it,” said Réal Sarault of Vau- dreuil, Québec, as he took a big bite of his pulled pork sandwich. “Vankleek Hill is a fun place. I sometimes say, just as a joke, that there’s more things to do here than in Montréal. But this town is really dynamic.” A horde of people would have agreed with Sarault as they wandered up and down along several blocks of Main Street, blocked off to traffic, on September 9, for one of Vankleek

Both sides have 15 days from the date of Justice Gomery’s ruling to present bills and briefs on costs to the court for adjudication if necessary.
A Superior Court judge ruled in favour of a Hawkesbury high-tech company that filed charges of fraud against a former employee and his spouse. Judge Gomery also rejected defence argu- ments to overturn injunction orders issued last year on the case by Justice Ryan Bell. The injunction orders aimed at securing and QSPUFDUJOHFWJEFODFHBUIFSFECZ/PSFBTU &MFDUSPOJDT$P-UEPG)BXLFTCVSZBHBJOTU the two people, who are husband and wife, and the two companies for alleged fraud against the Hawkesbury firm over a seven- year period, amounting to more than a million dollars in potential value. “I dismiss the defendants’ motion to set aside the (injunction) orders,” stated Justice Gomery in her assessment report. An invoice was in the package, which was unusual because during the past several ZFBST%BOJTIBEQSFTFOUFEIBSEDPQJFTPG all the invoices himself. The invoice in the March 2017 package directed payment to a Chinese Bank, not UIF8ZPNJOHCBTFE8FMMT'BSHPBDDPVOU Also, the prices on the invoice were half the amount compared to those of other past JOWPJDFTGSPN%BOJT The company conducted a forensic audit. *UGPVOE%BOJTMJTUFEBTQSFTJEFOUGPS&"+ 5FDIOJDBM$PSQPSBUJPO &"+ UIBU&"+XBT

Hawkesbury will be holding its first ever Parkinson SuperWalk on Saturday, September 15, at Confederation Park. Les granules secs, qu’il suffit de verser dans le réservoir pour que l’appareil s’ali- mente de façon autonome, font que ce type de foyer est des plus efficaces. En revanche, il est plus dispendieux que le foyer au bois. Il requiert également l’installation d’un sys- tème de tuyauterie et nécessite lui aussi un nettoyage et un entretien réguliers. De plus, il est inutilisable en cas de panne de courant, car les systèmes de circulation de l’air, d’évacuation des gaz et d’alimentation de l’âtre fonctionnent à l’électricité.
