Melaleuca products or the financial opportunity – or both! And it is all because of people helping people, working together and sharing with others. No person, no matter how successful, has accomplished anything alone. Everyone owes their success to countless others. No one can legitimately say, “Look what I did by myself.” But everyone can be proud of what everyone working together is accomplishing. Without question, some have had a much greater impact than others, and for that they should, and do, receive a higher reward. We have structured our Compensation Plan to give the greatest benefit to those who have helped others the most. It’s a very fun and rewarding concept. Those who help others reach their goals also reach their own goals, but only by helping others reach theirs. All Melaleuca people are on a journey together – each individual contributing in his or her own way. Most are loyal customers who buy superior Melaleuca products month after month and provide the foundation for countless home- based businesses. Others contribute

by enrolling new customers now and then. And others are much more serious business builders who are up and at it day after day, contacting, presenting, and assisting. Everyone’s contribution is important. Everyone plays an important role and everyone reaps a reward in proportion to their contribution. If we take our mission of helping others reach their goals seriously, no matter how successful we are as individuals, we must remember that none of us have accomplished anything by ourselves. We owe our success to countless numbers of others. When we reach our own goals, to lie back and relax in our success would be not only inappropriate but entirely contrary to our stated mission. Our mission is to help others reach their goals. As long as there are folks who have not yet met their goals, we have work to do! When our own goals are met or are even surpassed, we cannot forget that most of our success is because of the contribution of others. It is my hope that all leaders in Melaleuca – no matter how successful – will never abandon those in their

organizations who have not yet reached their goals. The more successful we are, the more we owe it to others to reach out and help people make appointments, to help them make their presentations, and to help them advance to the next status. I feel thrilled and privileged to be a part of Melaleuca! I appreciate every member of the Melaleuca family who has trusted us with their time and loyalty. I am serious about our mission of enhancing lives. I call on all leaders throughout Melaleuca – especially those with large incomes – to not forget those who create our success every day. We must continue to invest our time in helping them. Only after every last person has accomplished everything he or she originally set out to do, is our mission complete.

company that offered a form of passive income for recommending others advisors to work. It sounded like a great opportunity to earn some additional income and this kind of referral marketing peaked my interest. One day while browsing Social Media I met Magdalena Gwóźdź, who introduced me to Melaleuca The Wellness Company. I was so impressed after hearing the Mission Statement and the transparency of the company and the fact that someone would explain to me the power of residual income. Sharing Melaleuca just makes sense. That’s why you’re a Marketing Executive, after all. You know how sensible it is for customers to switch stores. You know the products are life-changing. And you know the potential for reliable residual income is a real part of enhancing lives and helping people reach their goals. Sharing products you love with friends and family is as easy as recommending a favorite restaurant – it comes naturally for most Marketing Executives. But explaining how one can develop a stream of income can be a pretty new concept for many business builders. And yet Melaleuca’s Compensation Plan is one of the most powerful components of Melaleuca. It’s worth sharing! “We let a lot of potential builders slip through the cracks because we don’t talk about the strength of our Compensation Plan and our business model,” says National Director Jeff Stutz. “We have to treat the Strategy Session with the same importance as the Melaleuca Overview. You have to be as passionate about the Compensation Plan

and business model as you are the products.” Leadership in Action reached out to a panel of experts to get their advice on tried-and-true ways to share the Compensation Plan that won’t overwhelm a new business partner (or you). With a little bit of coaching and practice, you and everyone on your team can talk about the power of the Compensation Plan with confidence and finesse! Q. I’m more comfortable sharing products. Is it really necessary to share the Compensation Plan? “Everybody deserves a chance to at least see all that Melaleuca has to offer,” says National Director and two-time Marketing Executive of the Year Krista Wineinger. “Don’t prejudge people and limit what information you’re willing to share. It’s not your choice; it’s their choice. Let them make that decision for themselves and their family.” Q. How can I feel more confident when talking about the Compensation Plan? “You don’t have to know everything to start working with a business partner,” says Executive Director 9 Bonnie Wright. “Trust yourself. You absolutely know more than any brand-new person you would enrol. Doing your homework will help you feel more confident. Read the pamphlet A New Day! Call business development. Rely on your support team. You will learn as you go. Just keep it fun!” Q. How can I explain the Compensation Plan in simple terms? Our experts were unanimous: keep it simple (figure 1a) . Spelling out all the details of the Compensation Plan right away can overwhelm a new business partner (figure 1b) . “The purpose of explaining the Compensation Plan isn’t to teach a new enrolee how it works,” Jeff says. “The purpose of teaching the Compensation Plan in the beginning is to inspire someone and help them realise that building a Melaleuca business is worth their time and effort.” Krista agrees: “I say, ‘We get paid through commissions plus bonuses.’ Using my business report, I show the commissions on personal and secondary referrals. When it comes to bonuses, I keep it general. I talk about Advancement Bonuses and the Car Bonuses, and I say that there are many other bonuses that go along with that. And then I reassure them by saying, ‘You don’t need to know all the details yet. It’s my job to make sure I’m leading you down the right path to help you

earn as much money as possible. You’ll learn as you go.’” Q. When should I talk about the Compensation Plan? Always give a balanced, full Overview that thoroughly covers both the product store and the referral program (figure 2a) . When it comes to a more in-depth look at how Marketing Executives make money, that’s a conversation best left for the Strategy Session. “The reason that the Strategy Session is the best setting for this is because this is when you learn a person’s why ,” (figure 2b) Jefferson says. Q. Should I talk about compensation at all during an Overview? Yes! When you give a full Overview, compensation is covered. “I think you have to talk about compensation in the Overview because a lot of potential customers may not know there is viable income attached to Melaleuca,” Jefferson says. “You definitely need to lead with the products, though. If I lead with the money that can be earned and that is the reason they enrol and they don’t earn that kind of income, then there’s no reason for them to continue to be part of Melaleuca. When customers enrol for the products, they’ll stay no matter what.” Q. How do I approach the topic of compensation in the Strategy Session? “The point of a Strategy Session is to help a new enrolee move forward with building a business. Don’t complicate it. It isn’t ‘Compensation Plan 101,’” Krista says. Jefferson adds, “I think one of the misconceptions Marketing Executives have is that there’s just one Strategy Session.” In an initial Strategy Session, figure out the goals of your new enrolee and the why attached to that goal. Perhaps they hope to make an extra £/€ 1 000 a month to send their children to a better school. Then you can help them develop a plan to meet their goal. “Use the Compensation Plan to show new business partners how advancing to a certain status helps them achieve that goal,” Jefferson says. Jeff Stutz explains how visuals are an important part of the Strategy Session. “People need to see things visually to really get it. So we want to show them visually the documented 96% reorder rate. We want to show them a business report (whether it’s yours or a

team member’s) that shows the reorder rate. You can also use the business report to show all your customers who have shopped here for two years, five years, ten years, and have never received a check.”

Q. What should new Marketing Executives do to maximise their earnings?

“On our team, we have a simple path to Director 3 we call ‘Two-and-Twenty,’” Jeff says. “Executive Director 7 Josh Grimley came up with that phrase. You enrol 20 customers in your first 90 days. And of those customers, you develop two into Directors and one of them to a Director 2. “Someone who achieves Two-and-Twenty in 90 days will make about £/€ 3 500 and have an ongoing residual income of about £/€ 300 a month. Plus, they learn the three most important ways to earn money at Melaleuca: commissions, Advancement Bonuses, and Mentoring Bonuses.” This 90-day strategy of Two-and-Twenty that Jeff’s team uses helps a new business builder get off to a strong start. They typically have reached the highest personal customer Commission Rate, enrolled enough personal customers to advance serveral statuses, experienced the benefit of Pacesetter Bonuses, and enjoyed the benefits of the Mentoring and Expanded Mentoring Bonuses. A business builder doesn’t need to understand all these details, of course. In fact, it might be intimidating if you tried to describe it to them. Keep it simple – the way you maximise your income at Melaleuca is to enrol customers and develop Directors, then do it all again.

With Melaleuca, all you do is give a one-time Melaleuca Overview to a new customer, enrol that customer, and from that point forward you earn a check every single time that customer shops with Melaleuca.

Q. Why does Melaleuca have Leadership Points? Leadership Points are a measurement

“At that point I pretty much have confused them,” Jefferson laughs. “That’s when I start using numbers. After setting it up, I think using numbers is the most effective way to explain those bonuses.” “With the Mentoring Bonus, when one of your personal enrolees advances, you can earn a matching bonus,” explains Bonnie. “It rewards teaming up, doing the Strategy Session, being there for phone calls and texts, maybe doing a presentation. These bonuses are about teaming up and following through to help others reach their goals. It’s our mission – to enhance lives!” The benefit of your 5x7 organisation is in the simplicity of it. As with any business, you can effectivly manage only a limited number of team members. With that in mind, your Melaleuca business begins with five first-generation positions. This allows you to offer the best in personal leadership and customer service to your team. Each of those five positions will have five first-generation positions and so forth. Your team or marketing organisation consists of seven generations of leaders and customers. As you develop personal leaders, you can qualify for additional first-generation positions. “I appreciate the way my business is organized a lot,” Krista says. “What I love about it is that you start with five first-generation positions, but you get rewarded with another spot every time you develop a Personal Director. So there’s no limit to how wide you can go in your business. In my mind, that’s literally unlimited potential. “In regards to having an organisation that goes seven generations deep, I think it’s pure genius. It shouldn’t be that the first person in makes the most money. That just wouldn’t be fair.” Because of this business model, there is no “ground floor” like you see in MLM businesses. Anyone who begins a Melaleuca business today has the same income potential as a Marketing Executive who enrolled 20 or 30 years ago! Q. What is the benefit of the 5x7 organisation?

New enrolees don’t need to understand the full concept of Leadership Points to get started and be successful, but further along in their Melaleuca careers, it’s important to understand what Leadership Points are and why they exist. “Through Leadership Points, Melaleuca rewards effort,” Bonnie says. “You earn points based on how engaged you are in the Critical Business-Building Activities. If you’re going to be paid a leader’s income, you’re going to have to engage as a leader. And what’s cool is that Melaleuca rewards your effort beyond your imagination.” “I always frame income in terms of that person’s goal,” Jefferson says. “I will say, ‘Listen, [insert name], there are three concepts that will help you focus on the right activities (figure 3). First is the Advancement Bonus. When you advance, Melaleuca is going to pay you an Advancement Bonus. Pretty simple. Now you’re going to enrol other customers. Some of those customers are going to advance and they will earn an Advancement Bonus. If you’re at the same or greater Commission Rate when they advance, you’re going to earn what’s called a Mentoring Bonus for helping them advance. And then they’re going to introduce new builders who will advance and earn an Advancement Bonus. The person you enrolled can receive the Mentoring Bonus we just talked about.’ Q. What should I say about the Mentoring Bonus?

COMMISSIONS Product Introduction Commission : When you enrol a customer, you will receive 50% of Product Points on purchases in the customer’s first month of enrolment. Personal Customer Commission : Earn up to 20% of the Product Points that your personal customers order each month after the third month. Organisation Commissions : Earn 7% of the Product Points ordered by customers who were enrolled by someone else in your organisation. BONUSES Advancement Bonuses: Each time you advance to a new status of Director or above, you will receive a one-time Advancement Bonus.

GC-MS TESTING: Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry checks the purity and potency of the oil against thousands of compounds.  CHIRALITY TESTING: Ensures no synthetic elements are present.  HEAVY METAL/PESTICIDE/HERBICIDE TESTING: Makes sure all PURE Oils are free of heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicides. THE MYTH OF “THERAPEUTIC GRADE” If you’re familiar with essential oils, you might have heard the term “therapeutic grade” used as proof that a particular oil is considered higher quality. According to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, “There is no such thing as therapeutic grade.” A few companies decided to make up the term to help sell their essential oils. If “therapeutic grade” were an actual industry standard for essential oils, PURE would seek out the certification just as we have for other recognised measurements of purity and quality.

A COMMITMENT TO SAFETY INGESTION AND FOOD GRADE OILS

Safety is one of Melaleuca’s founding principles. That is why we stand by our recommendation that the ingestion of concentrated essential oils should only be considered if directed by a qualified health care practitioner – even though the majority of Melaleuca’s essential oils are considered food grade by the FDA. Essential oils are highly concentrated, and in many cases are up to 100x more powerful than dried herbs! Essential oils contain a variety of highly concentrated, powerful constituents that, when used improperly, can lead to injury and long-term negative health effects. That is why it is irresponsible and potentially dangerous to use ingestion as a measurement of oil quality. Melaleuca’s usage recommendations are aligned with undisputed science, just like our products.

While it is true that PURE Essential Oils and many others are 100% natural, it’s important to realise that caution still needs to be exercised when using them. Many essential oils are so potent that you shouldn’t apply them to your skin unless they are properly diluted. That caution is even more important when you consider the sensitive nature of your internal tissues.
