Dear Club Members,
As the seasons speed past, it’s nice to be able to slow down and just soak in the special moments. So far this year I have been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful new people, experience new places to eat, shop and be entertained with my family, and to be reminded that no matter how old we get, there is so much we can learn from one another. This summer I was honored to welcome so many of you to the Precious Moments Chapel for our annual Family Reunion Event. We shared so many memories and enjoyed some thought-provoking conversation. One in particular has stayed with me in the weeks since the event. I have one word for you: FROG. I’m not talking about the amphibian, but rather an acronym for a life motto: Faithful Remain Of God. No matter what challenges life has given us, we remain faithful in our trust in God, that He provides exactly what we need. This lesson isn’t new, but it certainly served as a blessed reminder that we do not walk this path alone. I hope as we continue to relish in all 2017 has to offer us, we can enjoy each moment knowing He continues to guide and provide, and all of His faithful remain of Him.

restaurant. She also helped her to order and showed her great kindness throughout the meal. Sam was moved to leave her a note telling her that she is surely a blessing to all who know her. Sam then asked his audience to show the same mercy whenever possible. Nearly 40 years ago, a talented artist named Sam Butcher created uplifting illustrations that became the spark igniting the Precious Moments collection as we know it today. Over the decades his humor and wisdom have been such blessings. Those who meet him or hear him speak are continually in awe of his humble nature and insightful words. At this year’s Family Reunion Event at the Precious Moments Chapel, attendees were treated to a rare experience – a live talk from the man himself, Mr. Samuel J. Butcher. Precious memories were made as guests were filled with joy, feeling honored for the opportunity to hear him speak. He told them that he was called to share “Four Things God Wants You To Know.” We would like to share some of his talk with you, our valued Club Members! The first thing Sam said that God wants you to know is that He is a God of mercy. He pointed to Acts 3 when Peter and John found a lame man begging outside the temple gate. In the name of Jesus Christ, they helped him up and he began to walk – merciful God indeed! It reminded him of a recent visit to a Chinese restaurant in the Philippines where he witnessed a gentle woman holding a matriarch’s arm as they entered the

From June 14-16 the Precious Moments Chapel welcomed more than 470 guests to the annual Family Reunion Event. As always, it was a fun-filled, action packed three days that brought our Precious Moments community together in the spirit of fellowship. Celebrating with a marching band of angels theme, highlights included an inspirational talk by Precious Moments creator Sam Butcher, signing sessions with Mr. Butcher and Linda Rick, The Doll Maker, foot-tapping music from the Duke Mason Band, down-home humor courtesy of WillaMae, plus so much more! Our guests loved the creative opportunities like the “Make-A-Doll” session, sweatshirt class, and jewelry making. There were also many opportunities to enter raffles, win prizes and privately shop for exclusive products. Of course, everyone appreciated the Event Exclusive Musical Figurine, And A One And A Two And A I Love You . The Precious Moments Family Reunion Was Music To Our Ears!
We want to personally thank all who attended and helped to make this highly-anticipated annual event a success. We hope to see all of you next year!

First of all, for those of you who participated in the annual Family Reunion Event, thank you not only for your attendance, but for all your opinions shared during our sessions regarding our strategy, planned product, and design concepts. We are increasingly reaching out to our most important consumers – all of you in the Precious Moments Collectors’ Club – for your feedback on our plans via Facebook, other surveys, and the Reunion Event. Fall Greetings to our Cherished Precious Moments Club Members!
We covered a few important elements at the Reunion Event which I’d like to recap with all of you:
• Our strategy of providing additional Precious Moments product formats (other than figurines) to be used throughout the home is getting real traction with you and other Precious Moments consumers. Many of these products were previewed in prior MOMENTS Magazines, and the reception in the market has been phenomenal. We have sold out of many of the garden products already and the baby product line has been a home run! Retailer orders for our decorative Christmas tabletop line for 2017 have been very strong, and we’ve had to place additional orders with our factories as a result. Reunion Event attendees asked for more product to decorate their homes to give to their children, grandchildren, friends, and the rest of the family. • We have increased our development of spiritually-oriented products. Again, the products were previewed in prior MOMENTS Magazines and are flying off the shelf. In addition, we will introduce a spiritually-themed Limited Edition later this year and will increase the spiritual messaging in every one of the categories we produce. • As more traditional card and gift shops are closing, additional major retailers are picking up Precious Moments monthly. We also have enhanced our website to include all Precious Moments product made by the Precious Moments Family of Companies, as well as most of the products made by our licensees, so you can one-stop-shop at PreciousMoments.com. • Finally, we continue to aggressively contemporize our designs. Thanks to your endorsement last year of our Precious Paws and Girls of the World designs, more items are reaching young moms and their children. We shared even more concepts under consideration with the Reunion Event attendees and received some excellent feedback. One of the concepts is totally different in that it depicts an empowered Precious Moments angel who defends good against evil. A teenager at the Reunion Event said she would put that on her clothing in a minute! I think it would beat much of the questionable artwork we are seeing on teenager jackets and shirts these days. Overall, the excitement is high and it is great seeing so many collectors take ownership of this brand that they sincerely love. As always, I welcome and encourage your opinions and ideas! A Collector’s Story
Collector’s Love for Precious Moments Goes Beyond the Curio K aren Aurand from Wayne, Ohio enjoys a lot of things. Perhaps a bit surprising, one of them is riding Honda Gold Wing motorcycles with her husband, Eugene. Not so surprising is spending time with her children, Charlie and Carrie. But one of her favorite things to do is finding ways to incorporate her love for Precious Moments into her seasonal decorating and celebrations. Walk up to her door and step into her home and you are treated to a mesmerizing menagerie of all things Precious Moments! Her imagination shows no end. She loves to pull out a selection of her favorite pieces to celebrate each season. She has also had custom wooden cutouts made, with permission, to display in her yard. On those chilly autumn evenings she can curl up with one of the beautiful quilts her daughter made for her. These quilts are extra special because they were created from Precious Moments sweatshirts and t-shirts she’s collected over the years.

For the fall season, Karen sits out her favorite pilgrims and Native American figurines. She’s decorated Precious Moments planters with mums and displays fall-themed pieces around her home. When winter comes around, a sweet snowman with Precious Moments girl cutout will be displayed outside with a spotlight on it, as well as a Precious Moments Nativity and plenty of festive figurines and ornaments.
During this time of year, Karen pulls her favorite fall figurines out from behind the glass and decorates her yard too.

Precious Moments has become a treasured part of her life. When she and Eugene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last December, Precious Moments played its part. Their invitations included artwork of a Precious Moments couple driving into their happily ever after. Karen is a long-time member of the Treasured Friends Local Club Chapter of Finley, OH. She and Carrie use their creativity to incorporate Precious Moments into placemats, party favors, vases, and cards for the Club. They even have Precious Moments address labels! Eugene has been retired for five years, and even though they have a small engine repair shop, they do find time to ride their motorcycles to destinations all over the country, including the Precious Moments Chapel. For Karen’s birthday, Charlie will give her money to shop at the Chapel allowing her to choose a special gift for herself. Karen looks forward to discovering more ways to incorporate her love for the Precious Moments style and message into her home and life and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Love To The Rescue! Meet Dr. Kristen L. Carroll
N ot all superheroes wear capes. Nowhere is this statement more obvious than at Shriners Hospitals for Children. Through the Precious Moments partnership with this outstanding organization, you have been introduced to some pretty amazing patients. Recently we caught up with Dr. Kristen L. Carroll, pediatric orthopaedic surgeon and chief of staff of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Salt Lake City. She is also professor of orthopaedics at the University of Utah. W hen Dr. Carroll first began as an attending physician, she worked in private practice and at Shriners part-time. She soon discovered that she preferred to work in a hospital setting where the billing of patients was taken out of the care equation. Since Shriners Hospitals is a non-profit organization running on the generosity of donors, the parents of her young patients know that the physician/patient relationship is very pure – not hindered by insurance or billing concerns. There is no underlying drive; the only motivation is the well-being of the child. “At Shriners I can interact on a level I ammuch more comfortable with. It doesn’t matter if I’m on their insurance panel or not. I think parents feel like they can trust my judgment because we aren’t making a profit,” Dr. Carroll explains. A s an attending surgeon at Shriners since 1996, Dr. Carroll has helped more patients than she can count. Often she receives cards and letters from these precious young people and she treasures each one. A couple of years ago, a young lady named Brooklyn came under her care for a serious ATV accident in which both of her legs were broken. This past February, Brooklyn was in for a follow up and Dr. Carroll was moved by an extraordinary gesture. “This brave young lady, only 13-years old, was doing great. At the end of her visit, her Dad said, ‘go ahead and give her your present.’ This incredible girl hands me a check for $15,000! She had won a settlement from the ATV company and decided to donate the check to the hospital!” Brooklyn stated that if it was not for the care she received, she could have been an amputee, so she wanted the money to go towards Shriners Un-limb-ited Amputee Activity Camp. This camp offers a unique opportunity for high school kids from ages 13-17 with amputation, encouraging them to better understand the use of their prosthetics through activities and sports.

I n addition to her work in Salt Lake City, Dr. Carroll also heads down to El Paso, Texas four times per year to do a clinic. Sometimes this clinic is the only care these kids are receiving. Dr. Carroll embodies what makes Shriners so special and what makes the partnership with Precious Moments so natural. “The mission of Precious Moments is nearly identical to ours,” she says. “There is lots of love from everyone who works here, from the folks cleaning the floor to the attending surgeon.” W hen you make a donation, or purchase a Shriners Hospitals for Children Precious Moments figurine or ornament, you are helping many doctors just like Dr. Carroll and amazing kids like Brooklyn. For the first time ever, a retirement was announced on Facebook Live! Hosted by Vice President of Procurement and Int’l Business, Tom Fallon, this past June, Master Sculptor, HikoMaeda physically broke the various molds required to create I Believe In You , honoring this sweet piece with retirement status. This means this figurine can never again be produced in the same form.
