Les résidents d›Alfred-Plantagenet vo- teront de chez eux lors des élections municipales de l’année prochaine. Un des membres du conseil du canton espère que les problèmes qui ont affecté la configuration du vote électronique (e- voting), lors des élections municipales de 2018, ne se reproduiront pas. «Il y a eu beaucoup de plaintes au sujet de ce système», a déclaré le conseiller *BO 8BMLFS MPST EVO SÊDFOU FYBNFO par le conseil des méthodes de vote électronique. Le conseil municipal a approuvé que la municipalité fasse partie d’un contrat conjoint, entre sept des huit communautés de Prescott-Russell, avec Intelivote Systems, pour le service de vote électronique (e-vote) pour l’élection municipale de 2022. Intelivote Systems a été le soumissionnaire retenu parmi cinq entreprises qui ont répondu à une demande conjointe de propositions. Le coût du canton pour le vote élec- tronique dans le contrat conjoint avec Intelivote serait d’environ 20 000 $. Ce coût est basé sur le nombre de résidents ayant le droit de vote, enregistré dans le recensement de 2018. Le système Intelivote offrira aux élec- teurs du canton la possibilité de voter par téléphone ou par Internet.
Le candidat du parti Vert, Daniel Lapierre, veut que les électeurs com- prennent le pouvoir qu’ils exercent lors des élections fédérales de ce mois-ci. «Ils ne se rendent pas souvent compte de l’impact de leur vote», a déclaré M. Lapierre lors d’une entrevue téléphonique le 1er septembre. Lors de sa campagne de porte-à-porte, M. Lapierre a remarqué que plusieurs per- sonnes lui ont dit qu’elles n’avaient pas voté lors de la dernière élection ou qu’elles n’avaient pas l’intention de le faire. «Cer- tains résidents, a-t-il ajouté, ne semblaient pas réaliser à quel point leur vote pourrait s’avérer important lorsque les bulletins de vote seront comptés pour choisir le repré- sentant de Glengarry-Prescott-Russell au Parlement, le 20 septembre.» M. Lapierre, qui réside à L’Orignal depuis 1997, est titulaire d’un diplôme en physique de l’Université d›Ottawa. Il est entraîneur de soccer, de baseball et de hockey pour les jeunes et ancien président de son associa- tion mineure locale. Il a décidé de devenir le candidat du parti Vert pour la circonscription parce qu’il croit que la politique du gou- vernement fédéral doit mettre davantage l’accent sur la mise en œuvre immédiate

with a QR code. This, along with the com- panion reader app, will make it easier for businesses to verify a person’s vaccination record while still protecting privacy. Vaccine certificates will be established for Indigenous communities, whether they have opted to enter their data into COVaxON or not, while maintaining Indigenous data governance, control, access, and possession principles. Alternatives will be established for people with no email, health card, or ID. Individuals can get copies of their vacci- nation record through the provincial booking portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.

Fully vac- cinated individuals entering a non-essential business must present photo ID, along with either a digital or printed-out version of their vaccination record, to prove they have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions must present a doctor’s note. Children under 11 years of age that are unable to be vaccinated will be exempted from these requirements. These restrictions apply to all non-es- sential spaces, including: restaurants and bars, nightclubs and their patios, meeting and event spaces, sports and fitness facili- ties, sporting events, casinos, bingo halls, music venues, theatres and cinemas, strip clubs, bathhouses, sex clubs, and racing venues. A more detailed list is available on the province’s website. These restrictions will not apply to medical facilities, grocery stores, and other essential

Si je vous raconte cette histoire qui est la mienne, c’est parce qu’on me dit qu’en raison de la pénurie d’infirmières dans notre communauté, je suis l’un des trois premiers patients en Ontario à bénéficier de soins à domicile prodigués par des ambulanciers paramédicaux. Voilà que le 20 juin dernier, le dimanche de la fête des Pères, j’étais allé célébrer l’événement avec mon fils qui demeure à Gatineau. Juste avant de quitter pour rentrer chez-moi à Hawkesbury, j’ai subi une vilaine blessure au genou gauche causée par une très mauvaise chute. Avec mon genou enflé de la grosseur d’un ballon de soccer et soufrant de douleur quasi-extrême, je me suis rendu directement à l’urgence de l’hôpital général de Hawkes- bury. Heureusement, une radiographie ne SÊWÊMBJUQBTEFGSBDUVSF.BJTVO$54DBO MF lendemain, indiquait des lésions musculaires internes. Les urgentologues m’ont dit que la blessure guérirait avec le temps. Plusieurs semaines plus tard, le 17 juillet, après bon nombre de tests, je suis SFUPVSOÊÆ M6SHFODFDBS MBEPVMFVSÊUBJU devenue presque insupportable. C’est alors que l’urgentologue m’a envoyé au Campus général de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa pour y subir une chirurgie dès le lendemain. Heureusement car mon genou était infecté d’un staphylocoque, une bactérie
J’ai dû séjourner à l’hôpital pendant les deux semaines suivantes où on m’a admi- nistré, trois fois par jour, un antibiotique par voie intraveineuse, un traitement qui devait durer pendant quatre semaines. /PSNBMFNFOU KFOBVSBJTQBTEÚËUSF hospitalisé plus de deux ou trois jours après la chirurgie afin de poursuivre le traitement à la maison, grâce aux soins à domicile. .BMIFVSFVTFNFOU DFOÊUBJUQBTQPTTJCMF car il n’y avait pas, dans ma communauté, d’infirmières disponibles pour les soins dont j’avais besoin. Alors me voilà en train d’occuper un lit d’hôpital qui aurait été bien plus utile pour un patient ou une patiente bien plus malade que moi, ce que je trouvais complètement inacceptable. Puis, le vendredi 30 juillet, Raymond Vallée, un infirmier coordonnateur de soins à l’hôpital général d’Ottawa, est venu m’annoncer que j’allais pouvoir rentrer chez-moi dès le lendemain et que ce n’était pas des infirmières qui me prodiguerait des soins à domicile, car il n’y en avait toujours pas de disponibles, mais qu’à ma grande surprise, ce serait des ambulanciers para- médicaux spécialement formés pour le faire. Et c’est ainsi que pendant les deux semaines suivantes, des ambulanciers paramédicaux communautaires de Prescott- Russell sont venus me voir tous les jours. Ils ont vérifié mes signes vitaux et remplacé

Que faire en cas d’agression sexuelle? En 2021, c’est le vendredi 17 septembre qu’a lieu la Journée d’action contre la violence sexuelle faite aux femmes. Cet évènement vise à sensibiliser la popula- tion aux agressions subies par les femmes et à soute- nir celles qui en ont souffert en les invitant à dénon- cer, si elles s’en sentent capables, leur agresseur. Vous avez été victime de violence sexuelle? Voici ce que vous pouvez faire. qu’un examen médical dans les jours suivants peut encore révéler certaines lésions. Ce dernier vise éga- lement à vérifier votre santé physique et psycholo- gique et à vous guider vers les ressources nécessaires.
PARLEZ-EN À QUELQU’UN Une foule d’émotions (confusion, rage, tristesse, culpa- bilité, peur, etc.) peuvent vous assaillir après de tels évè- nements. Que vous choisissiez de dénoncer l’acte ou non, parler de la situation peut vous faire sentir mieux. Selon votre préférence, vous pouvez vous tourner vers vos proches ou la ligne-ressource provinciale, par exemple. Vous vous sentez incapable d’en discuter? Notez sans tarder tous les détails de l’agression (date, heure, lieu, état de l’agresseur, gestes commis, paroles pronon- cées, etc.). Ils pourront vous être utiles si vous décidez de dénoncer votre agresseur dans le futur. Vous êtes témoin d’une agression sexuelle? Intervenez ou composez le 9-1-1 si la situation vous met — ou met la victime — en danger.

3. LA RIPOSTE AGRESSIVE TEND À AGGRAVER LE HARCÈLEMENT
La rentrée scolaire est l’occasion parfaite pour sensibiliser les jeunes à l’intimidation et à ses impacts. Voici quelques réalités qui doivent être connues concernant ce phénomène préoccupant. 1. LES INTIMIDATEURS NE CESSENT PAS LEURS COMPOR- TEMENTS EN VIEILLISSANT Si les enfants ne sont pas confrontés à des conséquences significa- tives et n’apprennent pas que l’intimidation est inacceptable, leurs comportements risquent de persister à l’adolescence et à l’âge adulte. Cette attitude de domination peut également se transfor- mer en harcèlement en milieu de travail et en violence conjugale. 2. LES SITUATIONS VÉCUES DANS L’ENFANCE ONT DES CONSÉQUENCES À LONG TERME Les enfants victimes de harcèlement peuvent souffrir de maux de tête, de maux d’estomac, d’anxiété et de dépression. À long terme, ils sont également plus sujets à développer des problèmes de santé mentale et à faire des tentatives de suicide. En outre, ils sont plus susceptibles de consommer des drogues et de se livrer à des activités criminelles.
Bien qu’il faille encourager les enfants à tenir tête à leurs persécu- teurs, le fait de riposter par la violence physique, les insultes ou d’autres comportements agressifs peut aggraver la situation et la faire persister. Les stratégies les plus efficaces sont de réagir avec assurance et de dénoncer sans tarder les gestes inacceptables à un adulte de confiance. Bon nombre d’actes d’intimidation (ex. : moqueries, bousculades) se produisent sous le regard d’autres élèves, et la réaction de ces derniers joue un rôle majeur dans le renforcement — ou l’arrêt — du comportement. En fait, des recherches ont démontré que lorsque les pairs interviennent, plus de la moitié des cas d’in- timidation cessent dans les 10 secondes. 4. LES TÉMOINS PEUVENT METTRE FIN À L’INTIMIDATION RAPIDEMENT Ce n’est qu’en mettant fin aux idées reçues sur l’intimidation et en apprenant aux enfants à développer des relations saines que l’on pourra un jour éradiquer ce phénomène.

TAKE THE COUREURS DES BOIS CHALLENGE

The Coureurs de Bois Challenge is a personal test of just how much fun someone can have just running through the woods. “We’ve seen lots of kids come out with their parents, and lots of athletes who just want a different kind of challenge,” said Chantal Lalonde, Coureurs de Bois Challenge president and one of the project founders. 4FUVQXJUIJO UIF-BWJHOF/BUVSF1BSL PGGPG.BSDJM4USFFUOFBSUIF7JMMBHFPG#PVS - get, the Coureurs de Bois Challenge marks its sixth year of operation and its second year of providing individuals and families with outdoor recreation and fun during the pandemic. The course setup has been modified to meet COVID-19 health safety protocols, but Lalonde noted there is lots of fun for anyone who wants to spend a morning or an afternoon enjoying nature and doing some healthy, walking or running. This year, as it was last year, the annual Challenge is “virtual” event. Instead of a single weekend gathering of individuals and groups ready to test their mettle running along the paths and dealing with various physical obstacles, the formal Challenge runs all through the month of September, with individuals and groups able to take the course any day of the week, any hour of the day they want, and also at the pace

there along the trails.” Last year’s virtual Coureurs de Bois Challenge had at least 1400 participants, both individuals and groups, make their way along the trails during September. “The word is getting out,” said Lalonde, adding that there are participants driving in from the Orléans-Ottawa region and from as GBSBXBZBT.POUSÊB- “We’re expecting to see a few hundred or
more people coming out on the weekends,” said Lalonde. She has just one piece of advice to offer for everyone taking part in the Challenge. “Be prepared to go through the woods, have a good set of running shoes, and be ready to run through or jump into the mud,” she said. “Just enjoy the day, being outside in a natural setting. At these times we all just need to get outdoors.”

Le Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin est présentement à la recherche d’un(e) Préposé(e) au service alimentaire ÉCHELLE SALARIALE 20.06$ à 22.73$ + prime de 14% (employés à temps partiel et occasionnels) FORMATION SCOLAIRE • Posséder un diplôme ou être inscrit au programme de formation d’aide en alimentation, ou doit avoir terminé avec succès ou être inscrit à un programme d’apprentissage du métier de cuisinier, de cuisinier d’établissement ou d’aide-cuisinier; • Une expérience en cuisine d’institution serait un atout; • Expérience à travailler auprès des personnes âgées serait un atout.
Compétences et qualifications: • Connaissance de base des matériaux de constuc- tion est un atout • Peut soulever une charge jusqu’à 50 lbs • Capacité de travailler dans un environnement au rythme rapide
• Charger la marchandise sur les camions de livraisons • Servir les clients avec leur commande de matériaux
Doit détenir un niveau secondaire et/ou post-secondaire (16 ans et plus) pour les fins de semaines et congés.
