Neither the EOHU nor the Ministry of Health use automated calls to advise people about exposure to an infectious disease. Guitares pour VETS Canada : aider les vétérans à trouver l’harmonie
LEÇONS EN LIGNE Guitares pour VETS Canada a récemment annoncé une tournée à travers le pays, soit une série de leçons de guitare virtuelles pour les anciens combattants. Une centaine de participants recevront ainsi une guitare acoustique flambant neuve et 10 cours gratuits. DONS DE GUITARES Vous possédez une guitare en bon état, mais n’en jouez plus très souvent? Déposez-la dans un magasin Long & McQuade n’importe où au Canada : elle ira à un ancien combattant dans le besoin, et vous aiderez un héros à trouver l’harmonie!
« Mettre le pouvoir de guérison de la musique entre les mains des héros » : voilà l’objectif de Guitares pour VETS Canada, un programme novateur qui offre des guitares légèrement usagées aux anciens combattants canadiens et aux membres des Forces armées vivant avec une incapacité liée à leurs fonctions. Tour d’horizon. CRÉATION DU PROGRAMME Guitares pour VETS Canada reconnaît que la musique peut être bénéfique pour les
anciens combattants souffrant d’un syndrome de stress post-traumatique ou d’autres déficiences mentales ou physiques conséquentes à leur service. Dirigé par des bénévoles, ce programme est coordonné par le Veterans Emergency Transition Services (VETS), un organisme qui aide les anciens combattants sans- abri ou en difficulté à réintégrer la société. VETS a déjà permis à plus de 4500 anciens combattants de trouver un logement, un emploi et un accès à des services sociaux. FONCTIONNEMENT Le programme Guitares pour VETS Canada remet des guitares issues de dons à d’anciens combattants, lesquels sont également mis en contact avec des professeurs compétents. Ils peuvent ainsi apprendre à jouer de cet instrument, acquérir de nouvelles compétences et développer une nouvelle passion.

HOW TO REMOVE A POPPY It’s fine to continue to wear your poppy after November 11. However, many people choose to remove their poppies and place them on a cenotaph or wreath at a Remem- brance Day ceremony’s conclusion. This has become a poignant tradition at many war memorials. Always ensure you store or dispose of your poppy respectfully. If you see a poppy on the ground, please pick it up, clean it off and dispose of it in a respectful way. The Royal Canadian Legion supplies the poppies for free but encourages dona- tions to its Poppy Fund, which helps Ca- nadian veterans and their families.
Canadians wear poppies in November to honour veterans and soldiers who gave their lives fighting for freedoms abroad. The Royal Canadian Legion has a Poppy Protocol Guide, with tips on how to wear a poppy appropriately and respectfully. Here’s what it recommends. HOW TO WEAR A POPPY A poppy should be worn on the left side of your chest over your heart. The poppy is a sacred symbol and therefore shouldn’t be affixed with any type of pin that obs- tructs it. WHEN TO WEAR A POPPY Wear your poppy from the last Friday in October until Remembrance Day on No- vember 11. You can also wear a poppy at a veteran’s funeral or war memorial service such as one held at the anniversary for the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

scoreless third period. Having lost in Kemptville 5-2 on October 22, taking on the 73’s at home on Sunday brought out a different attitude for the Nats. After a scoreless first period, the Nats found a soft spot in Kemptville’s defence and buried three goals throughout the second period. Zach Power gave the Nats their first goal in the first two minutes, followed by Nicolas White then Kellen Dostaler late in the 18th. Kemptville clawed one back on a powerplay, but Adriano Lombardo-Tullo answered back first then Nicholas White scored his third on the weekend. A late third period goal from Kemptville brought the final score to 5-2. The Nats head to the Fred Barrett Arena to take on the Ottawa Junior Senators on Wednesday, November 9, followed by a home game against Carleton Place Canadians in Rockland on Friday.

After a 4-2 away loss to the Brockville Braves on Friday, the Nats returned home to defeat the Kemptville 73’s 5-2, replicating the score of their loss against the 73’s just two weeks prior. Brockville’s opening salvo gave them three goals in the first period, scoring the opening goal just 1:30 in with a second coming less than four minutes later on a powerplay. Nicholas White responded put- ting the Nats on the board with an assist from Lane Morency, but the Braves would close out the period with another powerplay goal. The second period saw two goals, one from the Braves’ Kevin Belsterling followed by the Nats’ Charles Locas just a minute later, giving the game its final score with a

de Hammond (Ontario), est décédé le vendredi 4 novembre 2022, à l’âge de 67 ans. Il était l’époux de Sylvette Savage, le fils de feu René Roy et de feu Cécile Lavoie. Il laisse ses deux filles : Josianne (David Simard) et Milène (Alexandre Verhoef), ses petits-enfants : Alexi et Maxim Simard et Ariel et Jayden Verhoef. Il laisse également ses frères et sœurs : Marcel, Claude, Diane et Sylvie ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces et ami(e)s. Il fut prédécédé par ses frères : Jean- Pierre (Lise Castonguay) et Denis. Gilles a livré un brave combat contre le cancer à l’image de sa ténacité. La famille désire remercier le Dr. Derek Jonker, ainsi que l’équipe d’oncologie de l’Hôpital d’Ottawa, et l’équipe des soins à domicile Champlain pour les soins attentifs. Des dons à la Société canadienne du cancer peuvent être faits. Les funérailles seront célébrées le samedi 12 novembre 2022, à 11 h, en l’église Sacré-Cœur, 3765, rue Champlain, Bourget (Ontario). La famille recevra les condoléances à l’église avant le service, à compter de 10h15. 5 e ANNIVERSAIRE À LA DOUCE MÉMOIRE DE M. MARCEL « Ti-Pit » CHAYER décédé le 11 novembre 2017 de Rockland (Ontario), décédé le lundi 31 octobre 2022, à l’âge de 65 ans. Il fut précédé par ses parents Jean Guy et Hermonde Laframboise (née Descotes). Il était le frère bien-aimé de Guyanne (Richard Vien) et de Jo-Anne (Dave Sarazin). Oncle «Broom Broom» de Shannon ( Billy, Joe ), Shon et Mystine. À la demande de Miguel « Le Zig », ses funérailles seront célébrées dans l’intimité familiale.
