Dundas District High School onWednesday, December 19. Teachers also picketed the offices of three of MPP Grant Crack’s offices in Alexandria, Rockland and Hawkesbury. The Upper Canada District School Board wants the province to retain a mediator to help resolve a labour dispute with its English language school teachers. The motion, passed last night by the UCDSB urges the province turn to mediation with the teachers“tomaintainpeace and stability in the schoolhouse”. Both the school board and teachers would “suspend sanctions” during the mediation process. The strike action did not affect teachers at either the French public or Catholic school boards, who reached an agreement with the province earlier this year.

Une sourdouée de hockey qui fait son chemin

Et c’était soir de première, le 17 décembre dernier, à Montréal, où le tapis rouge a été déployé pour y voir défiler l’équipe de ce long métrage mettant en vedette Alice Morel-Michaud, Antoine Pilon, Rémi Goulet, Guy Nadon, Édith Cochrane et Normand Daneau. Keisha, qui veut devenir vétérinaire ou actrice, se pensait comme dans un rêve et avoue que « c’était vraiment cool. J’aime

encore plus le hockey aujourd’hui parce que mes talents sont reconnus. Et si tu travailles fort pour quelque chose, tu peux l’avoir. » Cette petite surdouée du sport national a compris une leçon de vie et a tout donné pour réaliser l’un de ses rêves. Keisha Dicaire, une histoire à suivre…

EMBRUN | Elle joue au hockey pour le Ottawa Ice Bantam, occupe la position de centre et porte le numéro 19. Elle a 12 ans et habite Embrun. Elle a été la seule fille à être choisie parmi quelque 30 jeunes garçons pour figurer dans un film québécois à grand déploiement. On la voit déjouer le gardien de but et marquer. Keisha Dicaire. Retenez bien ce nom. Le rêve de Keisha a commencé en début d’année lorsque son père et elle ont vu une annonce invitant de jeunes hockeyeurs à envoyer un vidéoclip montrant leurs performances sur la glace. Keisha, joueuse de hockey au niveau bantam, n’a pas hésité une seconde et a tout fait pour enregistrer ses feintes, envoyer le tout sur le site internet d’un projet de film et attendre qu’on l’appelle. Ensuite, on lui a demandé de se présenter à Québec et de faire trois feintes contre le gardien de but. Elle a impressionné les juges en marquant deux buts sur trois. Tout un exploit lorsque tous les yeux ne sont braqués que sur une seule personne! Et son rêve est devenu réalité. Keisha a été retenue pour figurer dans le film d’Éric Tessier, Les pee-wee 3D , qui raconte l’ascension d’une équipe vers le tournoi international de Québec. Keisha y tient le rôle d’une joueuse de l’équipe adverse. La caméra se balade et s’arrête justement sur cette joueuse qui marquera

A new opposition group, Dump this Dump2, was formed to represent the communities of Vars, Carlsbad Springs and Edwards. Two open houses by TMES were followed by formal submission of the Terms of Reference. Mere days before the public comment period ended TMES was asked to take a “time out” by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE), which TMES refused. In front of a packed council chambers, Russell Township Council recommended the MOE reject the TMES Terms of Reference, and Mayor J.P. St. Pierre also stated the township would send a bill for their consultant’s fees, translation of the consultant’s report and Township staff time to the proponents. He also delivered a stinging rebuke to TMES for their failure to provide the terms in French, saying it showed lack of respect for and lack of understanding of the community. !3ŏ0.*/"!.ŏ /00%+* Russell Township sold land in the Vars Industrial Park to Laflèche Environmental to set up a transfer station which, if the project is approved, would be used to transfer waste going on to the Laflèche landfill near Moose Creek.
