On November 15, Russell Township ap- proved an amendment to the Traffic and Parking Bylaw to allow the installation of ‘no stopping’ signs on La Croisée Street in Embrun. Two signs will be placed 1.5 meters to the east and west of the school entrance, up to the driveway of 72 La Croisée Street, and the $150 cost will be covered by the Infrastructure Department Budget. Le conseil du canton de Russell a décidé de donner son nom au nouveau projet de parc afin de symboliser la détermination et la réussite de Jonathan et de tous ceux qui doivent relever des défis physiques ou mentaux. L’aménagement actuel du parc est assez vaste, avec plusieurs éléments d’exercice et des terrains de sport, mais le conseil souhaite l’agrandir encore davantage en ajoutant un gazebo. «Un gazebo serait un endroit idéal pour se reposer après avoir fait de l’exercice ou pour se mettre à l’ombre tout en profitant du parc, a spécifié la demande de subvention. Why Changing your Dentures Regularly is a Healthy Choice “Hold on! Wait a minute. Change my dentures? Why? Mine are fine? I have no problems; I can eat anything I want!” Sound familiar? If you feel that your old prosthetic teeth are still good after 10 years, think again. A piece of plastic can last a lifetime, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a great idea to keep your dentures just as long. Holding on to old dentures for too long is never a good idea. They need to be changed at least every five to eight years. Still being able to chew your food while not having any pain, discomfort, or other symptoms doesn’t mean everything is alright. Because changes happen so gradually, over time, your mouth and teeth adapt to those small changes. Sadly though, in 10 years, your mouth and facial structure will have shifted dramatically. For some people, adapting to a new dental prosthesis can be a big hurdle. This is usually the result of previous negative experiences wearing ill-fitting dentures. For them, the thought of wearing prosthetic teeth can lead to a great deal of anxiety. By far, the most frequent complaint I hear about getting new dentures is facial aesthetics. Especially from patients who are fearful of these changes because they’ve worn dentures in the past and found that they seemed to be wearing “horse teeth”, dentures that were too big. The changes were so incredibly overwhelming because the dentures simply didn’t fit properly. That type of situation should never happen, but when it does, it’s usually due to faulty communication and not having spent enough time with the patient. The result: important details aren’t discussed properly, expectations aren’t met, and results aren’t attained. If a patient wants to explore different options, whether for appearance and functionality or the hold of implants, they can. With over 20 years of professional experience in the field, I believe it’s absolutely possible to make dental prostheses look remarkably natural and feel just as comfortable. The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario is seeking a community member to serve on its audit committee for up to a two-year term, effective February 1, 2022. The audit committee is comprised of two trustees and two independent members drawn from the community at large. The primary role of the audit committee is to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its duties related to governance and oversight. The duties of the audit committee fall under the following key areas: the financial reporting process, internal control framework, risk management practices, performance and function of the Board’s internal and external auditors, and the Board’s compliance with its obligations under legislation. The committee will meet at least three times a year, plus ad-hoc meetings as required. Candidate Eligibility • Applicants must have sufficient accounting, senior financial management or other relevant business experience to understand public sector accounting and auditing standards. • The applicant must not be a current employee or officer of the Board, or of any other district school board or school authority. • The applicant must not have a parent, child or spouse currently employed by the Board. La récente vague de féminicides a fortement ébranlé la population et mis en lumière le manque criant de ressources, notamment de places en refuge, destinées aux femmes victimes de violences en tous genres. Du 25 novembre au 6 décembre 2021 se tiennent les 12 journées d’action contre la violence faite aux femmes, une occasion de réfléchir à cet enjeu sur lequel personne ne devrait fermer les yeux. PROBLÉMATIQUES Les formes de violence subies par les femmes doivent être nommées et dénoncées avec vigueur. Ces 12 jours
sont donc autant d’occasions d’éduquer la population sur différentes problématiques (harcèlement, culture du viol, consentement, violence conjugale, etc.) à travers des activités organisées par des groupes, des associations et des organismes dévoués à la cause. ACTIONS Vous voulez apporter votre soutien de manière concrète? Il existe plusieurs façons de contribuer à ces journées d’action. Vous pouvez notamment : • Témoigner de votre expérience en tant que survivante de violence;
• Participer aux vigiles et aux commémorations se tenant dans votre région; • Donner de votre temps bénévolement lors d’un évènement; • Faire un don en argent ou en matériel à un organisme venant en aide aux fem- mes victimes de violence. Enfin, en tout temps, n’hésitez pas à contacter une ressource d’entraide (ex. : SOS violence conjugale) lorsque vous êtes témoin d’une situation de violence . COMMÉMORATION Le 6 décembre 1989, 14 jeunes femmes ont été assassinées à l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. En mémoire de ce féminicide marquant, la Journée nationale de commémoration et d’action contre la violence faite aux femmes a été instituée en 1991.

La première étape pour être en mesure d’aider une femme aux prises avec la violence est de savoir reconnaitre les signes aver- tisseurs. Si vous remarquez l’un des signes avertisseu rs suivants, le temps d’agir est probablement venu : Il la rabaisse. Il parle tout le temps et domine la conversation. Il la surveille tout le temps, même au travail. Il essaie de prétendre qu’il est la victime et il agit comme s’il était déprimé. Il essaie de l’empêcher de vous voir. Il agit comme si elle lui appartenait. Il ment pour bien paraître ou exagère ses qualités. Il agit comme s’il était supérieur aux autres membres de sa famille et plus important qu’eux. Elle s’excuse ou trouve des excuses à son comportement. Elle devient agressive ou se met en colère. Elle semble mal à l’aise de s’exprimer en sa présence. Elle semble être malade plus souvent et s’absente du travail. Elle essaie de masquer ses blessures. Elle trouve des excuses à la dernière minute pour ne pas vous rencontrer ou elle essaie de vous éviter lorsqu’elle vous rencontre dans la rue. Les hommes de Ste- phane Ouellette ont fait preuve de patience et Riley MacDonald a réussi à dévier le tir de la pointe de John Mahoney pour tripler l’avance de l’équipe locale. Toutefois, les Vikings ont réussi à réduire l’écart à 18 secondes de la fin de la pre- mière période quand Aiden Foley, le gardien des Panthères, est tombé à la renverse en bloquant le tir de Simon Batista et que Jacob Dyer s’est emparé du rebond pour le rediriger dans une cage béante. Les Panthères semblaient avoir perdu leur rythme lorsque l’action a repris au début du deuxième vingt. Les Vikings en ont profité pour exercer de la pression en zone offensive et Samuel Levesque a décoché un tir que Foley a bloqué avec son bâton, mais le disque est ensuite passé au-dessus de son corps pour abou- tir dans le fond du filet. Nico Pozzebon et Frédérick Gagnier ont obtenu des passes sur le jeu. Le deuxième but des Vikings semble leur avoir redonné vie, et ceux-ci sont revenus au jeu avec une intensité renouvelée. Mais cette intensité était un peu excessive et Connor Cook a écopé d’une pénalité majeure pour avoir frappé un joueur des Panthères par derrière. Cependant, les Panthères ont démontré peu d’intensité en avantage numérique et les Vikings ont conservé le momentum jusqu’à

Le but égalisateur semble avoir réveillé les Panthères, qui se sont montrés plus menaçants en troisième période. Charlie Bélanger a obtenu deux excellentes occa- sions de marquer tôt dans l’engagement sans parvenir à battre Vaillancourt. Mais ce n’était que partie remise, et quelques secondes plus tard, Robert Beaudoin a redirigé une passe parfaite d’Eric Skyba dans une cage béante. Toutefois, les Vikings n’avaient pas dit leur dernier mot, et Vincent Boyle a créé l’égalité pour une deuxième fois dans le match, aidé par Gagnier et Levesque. Un peu plus tard, Eric Skyba s’est emparé du disque derrière le filet des Vikings et il a tenté de rejoindre un de ses coéquipiers devant le filet, mais celui-ci n’a pu saisir la passe qui a glissé jusqu’à la ligne bleue pour aboutir sur la palette du défenseur Connor MacDonald qui a décoché un tir solide qui a eu raison du gardien des Vikings. L’indiscipline des Panthères en fin de match a donné une nouvelle occasion aux Vikings de créer l’égalité, alors qu’ils évo- luaient à cinq contre trois, mais l’équipe locale a été exemplaire en infériorité numé- rique et Foley s’est montré intraitable. Les Panthères ont effectué un excel- lent travail pour garder le disque en zone adverse, limitant les occasions de marquer des Vikings qui se sont finalement inclinés devant les Panthères pour une deuxième fois cette saison.

NOTICE OF PASSING OF BY-LAW Nº 128-2021 TO AMEND BY-LAW Nº 92-2020: TO CHANGE THE NATION MUNICIPALITY’S WARD BOUNDARIES Under Section 222 (3) of the Municipal Act, 2001 – November 8, 2021 Following an order made by the Ontario Land Tribunal, pursuant to subsections 222(7) and (8) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25, Council passed By-law nº 128-2021, a by-law to re-divide and alter the wards in The Nation Municipality, on November 8, 2021. Please note, this by-law cannot be subject to an appeal. Members of the public may view By-law nº 128-2021, the new ward boundaries and their descriptions on The Nation Municipality’s website, www.NationMun.ca. The new ward boundaries will come into effect for the next municipal elections in 2022. Section 222 (1) of the Municipal Act allows for municipalities to pass a by-law to establish or change ward boundaries. Notice of the passing of such a by-law is required to be given to the public within 15 days of the passing. This ad is the Notice of Passing of By-law nº 128-2021.

Veuillez noter que ce règlement ne peut faire l’objet d’un appel. Les membres du public peuvent consulter le règlement nº 128-2021, les nouvelles limites des quartiers et leurs descriptions sur le site Web de la municipalité de La Nation, www.NationMun.ca. Les nouvelles limites des quartiers entreront en vigueur pour les prochaines élections municipales en 2022.
