MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
WHEREWERE YOUWHEN THE PANDEMIC HIT? We all remember where we were the moment something significant happened in our lives. And we will never forget the day the pandemic changed our lives forever. So many of us had great plans for the new decade of 2020! We had new visions for our company’s future and were ready to take on 2020 with gusto! And we did…for about 47 days! Then COVID-19 changed many of our plans and be- came a household word. But…the HR Community rose to the occa- large face to face meetings. Ultimately, we made the decision to move to a virtual HRSouthwest Conference. With the help of dozens of volun- teers, The HRSouthwest Conference was able to select a new virtual platform and deliver 31 hours of high-quality education over three vir- tual days. Although this virtual conference did not deliver the same in person networking and connection building opportunities, we expect at the in person event, we did meet the needs of the HR community through education. Virtual
sion. To achieve our mission, DallasHR depends on providing the HR industry in-person educa- tion, from experts in the industry. Not having access to in-person education was our major challenge. We immediately hit the ground running to address the pandemic challenges of working from home, mental health, and the new family first laws addressing the “new” workplace. Our talented volunteers and leadership assisted with nine complimentary pandemic support webi- nars in April pulling in local governmental lead- ers and employment lawyers to help address these topics and many more. And we joined the 1000s of associations across the country to identify the best procedures and platforms to deliver high quality education virtually to a HR Community trying to juggle an unprecedented working environment. The HRSouthwest Conference was on our immediate radar as we had no idea when the pandemic would end, and we could return to
HRSouthwest Conference participants gave the event a 95% net promoter score meaning attendees would recommend this evet to their colleagues and friends. By year ’s end, between DallasHR Education Events and The HRSouthwest Conference, we were able to virtually deliver more than 125 educational sessions with 125 HRCI and SHRM recertification credits to our members! Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who helped make 2020 a success despite the COVID challenges. We could not have done it without you, and we look forward to some return to normalcy!

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAPTER PRESIDENT
RELENTLESS. 2020 was absolutely relentless in its assault on daily life and the HR profession. We were inundated with a global pan- demic and lockdowns that completely up-end- ed how the workplace operates. The resulting economic woes led to many layoffs, failed busi- nesses, and soaring unemployment. The death of George Floyd and the ensuing BLM protests and riots brought Diversity, Inclusion & Equity to the forefront of company discussions. Added to this was an expected, tumultuous presidential elec- tion that had us tiptoeing through the minefield of politics. It would have been easy to get down and give up with all that was happening during 2020. All the best-laid plans coming into the year did not “really” get to happen. Yet, that was where DallasHR became RELENTLESS. All of the vol- unteers and staff within DallasHR were not going to sit back and succumb to the attacks of 2020. Our HR profession was crying for help in how to respond to the onslaught of these never-ending issues. And we responded. We quickly pivoted to providing all of our networking, educational, and round table events in virtual formats. While somewhat awkward at first, our volunteers, staff, and members quickly adapted and improved upon this format to provide amazing resources to the HR community to combat 2020’s prob- lems. HRConnect, our community forum for
an assortment of HR-related questions and concerns, became a necessity for the HR professional in the Metroplex and the State of Texas. DallasHR made HRConnect available to members of other SHRM chapters within Texas to aid them in their HR efforts as well. The most monumental task was converting our heralded annual conference, the HR South- west Conference, from an amazing in-person event to an outstanding and valuable virtual event in 2020. Chrissie Rogers, the 2020 Confer- ence Director, and her team accomplished this herculean feat with profound success. I am extremely proud of all that DallasHR was able to provide to our members in 2020. It made us more agile and relentless in meet- ing the needs of HR professionals. We all look forward to returning to in-person events, but in the meantime, rest assured that DallasHR will be ready and prepared to engage and assist you, regardless of any obstacle that might come our way.

ADVANCING THE COMMUNITY
Education Events We provide accessible, accredited education for HR professionals in the metroplex. In-person events are always conveniently located in Dallas or Collin County. And our virtual events are even more reachable from the convenience of your home office or living room. A total of 54 sched- uled educational events with a total of 3,366 attendees were held in 2020. We were able to meet face-to-face for 12 of the events and the other 41 were successfully deliv- ered virtually and are now available in the Online Learning Center. Amaz- ingly, we held four (4) fewer planned events than was reported in 2019. Thank you to our Education Event sponsor, Ed Rankin, SPHR.

ADVANCING THE COMMUNITY (continued)
Round Table Meetings Round Table Meetings bring HR profes- sionals together to connect and collab- orate in specialized areas of practice and interest in the HR field. With eight different topical Round Table Meetings held bi-monthly, it is easy to start shar- ing best practices with others in similar roles. We hosted 29 Round Table Meetings (one less than 2019), with 23
recertification credits (one more than 2019) offered in total for these specialized meetings. Thank you to our Round Table Meeting sponsors, Alvarez & Marsal Tax & LLC., BR Focus/Marsh & McLennan, Fluency Corp, Hays, K& S Insurance, Ed Rankin SPHR, Sana Benefits, and USA Mobile Drug Testing of Plano.
Online Learning Center The Online Learning Center offers educational webinars for recertification credit. With the best of The HRSouthwest Confer- ence to cutting edge HR speakers from recognizable companies like MGM Grand, Zoom, and Amazon, education on-demand gained in popularity in 2020. There were 163 videos watched in 2020 over 235 in 2019. The top two sessions were: “Building a Conscious culture” and Engagement and Motivation: The Byproducts of Organizational Culture.”
Authorized Recertification Credit Provisions The DallasHR is designated as a Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) recertification provider and as such, our educational programs are vetted by and preapproved for SHRM PDCs. The Chapter is also recognized by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). All of our educational sessions are pre-approved for recertification of the PHR, SPHR, and GPHR designations. In 2020, a total of 95.75 recertification credits were made available through in-person and virtual education events 2020.

ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY
The HRSouthwest Conference powered by DallasHR is one of the largest educational and networking events for HR professionals in the nation! This 2.5-day event provides HR professionals opportunities to connect with like-minded, HR-focused participants from across the nation to learn, network, and grow in the field of HR. Forced to pivot late in the year because of the pandemic, our first-ever virtual HRSouthwest Conference was held October 5 – 7, 2020. De- signing and hosting a virtual event was a new challenge for Chapter volunteers and staff. We are proud of our many volunteers who helped launch the virtual event.
Nearly 800 attendees experienced an exciting interactive virtual event with keynote speak- ers, networking events including mixology, yoga techniques, and Knowledge Hub educational “bites” prepared by exhibitors to share information about their products and services. Educational sessions chatter was busy with speaker hosted live Q&A and exhibitors and sponsors met 1:1 or in group settings to talk about their products and services. Virtual Conference attendees could earn up to 31 SHRM and HRCI recertification credit hours . Final survey results show the event was well received with a 95% net promoter score for the entire event. That means attendees would likely recommend this event to their colleagues and friends. Not bad for our first and hopefully last, entirely virtual HRSouthwest Conference. Thank you to our Gold and Silver Sponsors for taking the leap and participating in our first virtual conference. Your sponsorships were instrumental in attendee satisfaction.
And special thank you to United Concordia Dental, our Platinum Plus Sponsor. We appreciate your generous support and trust in conference organizers to deliver a memorable virtual event.

CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY Networking Events
Monthly Networking Events give the HR community a place to meet, catch up with friends, meet new people and build relationships to help one another achieve their business goals. We hosted two in-person networking events and went virtual in March with outstanding atten- dance numbers. In 2020 we hosted a record 21 networking events with the help of area restaurants and virtual event sponsors more than 1045 HR professionals attended events
throughout the year. Thank you to our Network- ing Event sponsors, Frontline, Mercer and SANA.
HRConnect: The Community Forum
HRConnect links members with other mem- bers in a powerful open forum. This mem- ber-only online communication vehicle allows users to ask questions and seek feedback on HR-related topics. HRConnect continues adding more Texas SHRM affiliated chapters, whose members are granted access to the ro- bust conversation portal. HRConnect not only
provides DallasHR’s 2,000+ members a vehicle to ask questions, but an additional state-wide base of more than 990 participants who can share information, ask questions, and receive feed- back. During the year, a total of 1045 new question threads were started with 2,607 responses from the community. This marks an increase of more than 500 questions asked and answered in HRConnect.

DEVELOPING YOUR CAREER
HR Certification Test Prep Course HR Certification is not required for employment in HR, but it can be a valuable resource. It is reported that career success can be achieved more quickly with at least one HR certification. Held over nine weeks, participants hear from subject matter experts and work in groups to finish as- signments. Our 2020 spring and fall virtual prep courses hosted a total of 108 HR practitioners . This attendance-breaking year offered accessible participation by hosting virtually without room size or travel restrictions. Executive Series DallasHR members whose titles are a director and above are invited to participate in our invita- tion-only Executive Series events. Three-morning educational sessions with high-profile speakers bring new ideas and topics for group discussion and two networking events are held throughout the year for our executive members to meet, mingle, and share “war stories” with one another. Participation is on the rise with 81 executives from 81 different companies participated throughout the year. Thank you to our Executive Series sponsor, Mercer. HR 101 Year over year registration comparison is unavailable. Both programs were postponed in 2020 due to the safety and technology requirements of the presenter(s). This two-day program is for those new to HR, those that have HR responsibilities but not the title, or those who want a re- fresher for industry updates. HR 101 provides proven, practically applied employment law and an effective HR practice program that provides the tools you need in an easy-to-follow format.

Area employers who post jobs in the Career Center enjoy easy online management of postings, access to a searchable resume database, and competitive pricing. In 2020, 51 different employers were able to see more than 740 searchable resumes in the Career Center. Interestingly this is 32 fewer employers and nearly 320 fewer resumes posted throughout the year.

In 2020, 420 HR professionals in transition participated in monthly Job-Link meetings. Not surprisingly, attendance grew by 78 professionals in 2020.
