The victim attended the hospital himself. Kenneth Ross, a 54-year-old Embrun resident, was charged with assault with a wea- pon and assault causing bodily harm. Inquiets des changements drastiques proposés par la ministre de l’Éducation Lisa Thompson, le 15 mars dernier, les élèves ontariens n’ont pas manqué de le faire savoir haut et fort. Les étudiants de l’Ontario dénoncent ainsi les changements de M. Ford, soit d’augmenter le nombre d’élèves en classe, de diminuer les budgets des écoles, de favoriser davantage les cours en ligne, d’interdire les cellulaires en classe
et de diminuer le ratio d’enseignants. Pour Zakary Tessier, 12 e année, l’un des organisateurs de la manifestation à l’École TFDPOEBJSF DBUIPMJRVF E&NCSVO JM GBVU s’assurer que les jeunes puissent recevoir une bonne éducation. The UCPR regional fire dispatch system has been in development for a couple of years now, since Hawkesbury agreed to turn over responsibility for the service to the counties. The UCPR is replacing the old analog system with a modern digital system, set up by the consultant firm BearCom. The change in the system will not affect how residents call for help using 911. L’enquête a révélé que le conducteur, Joey Markus Seguin, âgé de 24 ans et natif de Cornwall, avait enfreint la loi sur le cannabis en Ontario, ce qui a entraîné une fouille de son véhicule. Students all across Prescott-Russell left their classrooms and marched outside to join a province-wide student protest, April 5, against the Ford Progressive Conservative government’s cuts to education programs. “Our education! Our choice!” chanted about a hundred or more students from Vankleek Hill Collegiate as they gathered on the sidewalk outside of their school, along Highway 34 through the village. Several VCI staff were on hand as chaperones, though the student walkout did not have the official sanction of the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB). «It’s a good thing for them to do,» said one unidentified OPP officer. «To be able to express themselves in a safe manner.» VCI students waved banners at passing vehicles and cheered drivers who honked their horns to show their support for the protesters. Become a volunteer by asking these 5 questions
National Volunteer Month is the perfect time to extend a big thank you to the roughly 63 million Americans who cumulatively spend 7.8 billion hours a year volunteering. Are you interested in joining the ranks of this awesome volunteer workforce yourself? If you’d like to be a volunteer but don’t know where to start, try using the five W’s — who, what, where, when and why — to discover the opportunity that’s right for you. WHO? Ask yourself who you’d like to help. It could be homeless people, refugees, children, animals, senior citizens or those who have a disability. Alternatively, you can ask yourself who you are and how your unique skillset could be of service to your community. If you’re an accountant, you could volunteer to help a local charity balance their books. If you’re a chef, you might contri- bute your skills at a soup kitchen. WHAT? Figure out what volunteer opportunities are avai- lable. Ask friends, family members, neighbors and colleagues if they’re aware of volunteer op- portunities that would be suited to your talents. Or, you could look online to find out what vo- lunteer opportunities are available. One excellent online resource is Points of Light (pointsoflight.org), where you can search for lo- cal volunteer opportunities and connect with 250 volunteer action centers nationwide. A couple of
other great sites — each teeming with volunteer opportunities — are serve.gov and volunteer- match.org. WHEN? Determine when you’re available to do volunteer work. If you have a busy schedule, set reaso- nable expectations — an hour a week might be doable for some whereas others might only have a few days a year they can set aside for voluntee- ring. Start with a small commitment and increase your contribution when and if you can. WHERE? Volunteering close to home usually makes the most sense. Plus, volunteering in your neighbo- rhood allows you to strengthen your connection with your community. WHY? Why should you volunteer? That’s easy! Vo- lunteering is personally rewarding and has a positive impact on your community. You’re sure to find this out first-hand once you get started.
La radio communautaire de Casselman, le FM 92.1, a reçu un chèque de 10 000 $, du Comptoir populaire Deguire, de Casselman. Ce don a été fait dans le but d’aider les dirigeants du medium parlé pour le projet d’installation d’une antenne sur le bord de l’autoroute 417, afin d’atteindre un plus grand nombre d’auditeurs francophones dans l’Est ontarien. L’objectif que se sont donné les dirigeants de la radio est de 50 000 $. « Nous en sommes à 40 000 $ grâce à la générosité de la communauté », de dire, satisfait, Mathieu Manning. The company is proud to be able to give almost 30 youth (under 21) the opportunity to perform in a large-scale production. READY MIX CONCRETE TRUCK DRIVERS AND VOLUMETRIC CONCRETE TRUCK DRIVERS NEEDED! TRP Ready Mix Ltd. is currently recruiting for the position of READY MIX DRIVERS and VOLUMETRIC CONCRETE TRUCK DRIVERS. Candidates must be able to safely operate a Ready Mix Truck.
A.L. Blair Construction group is a multifaceted construction company involved in the supply of aggregates, ready mix concrete, hot mix asphalt a. The company is currently looking for a mature, customer service oriented individual with capability of handling a large number of receivable transactions with accuracy. Further, the individual will be responsible for various special assignments for management on a ad hoc basis.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Over 3 years experience in a medium to large sized company working in an accounts receivable/accounts payable. • SAGE and/or Simply Accounting knowledge preferred but not essential • General knowledge of accounting and basic bookkeeping. • Must be a team player capable of working with others and possess strong organizational skills. • Ability to handle multiple tasks. • College diploma in accounting or other related discipline would be considered an asset. • Job Type: Full-time
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ability to enter substantial number of receivable transactions into automated accounting system on a biweekly basis. • Work with management and sales personnel to gather correct pricing for various jobs and customers. • Monthly Reconciliation of receivables to plant and quarry reports to determine if all quantity’s have been invoiced • Aid in collection of receivables • Run various reports for management and complete various special projects for management including job and equipment costing.
Requirements:
• DZ or AZ license • Experience an asset • Able to communicate and problem solve while working with customers • Safely follow policy and procedures • Mechanical aptitude is an asset
• Clean safety record • Clean driving record • Work well under minimal supervision • Bilingualism an asset
