EDF EN Canada has its energy sales contract with Ontario Hydro and is now getting feedback from area residents to help fine-tune the site location design for the project. “We’re excited to realize the project in Alfred-Plantagenet Township,” said Kevin Campbell, senior developer for the project, “and realize the benefits to the community.” The Pendleton Solar Energy Centre is a 12-megawatt solar farm project, planned for a site on County Road 19 near Pendleton village in Alfred-Plantagenet Township. The site is close to the transmission line for the provincial power grid and the project includes a main site for the solar array and a secondary connection site 20metres away for the link to the provincial grid. The 140-acre site for the project is on Lot 20, Concession 8, and part of the company’s plans for site development this year includes planting more than 1000 sapling trees to create a future viewscape buffer between the solar farm site and adjacent properties and the roadway. Campbell noted during the Oct. 4 public open house in Curran that the viewscape buffer addition to the original project site plan is a result of public feedback during last year’s open house session. Several residents attending that open house expressed concern about the visual impact of having a solar farm set up within their area. The tree saplings planted this year will grow tall enough within the next two years to hide the completed solar array and support building from the view of neighbours and passersby. EDF EN Canada consulted with the South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC) on the types of trees best suited for the viewscape barrier and will plant conifers like spruce for the most part with a few de- ciduous trees like maple and honey locust. Même entre eux, tout n’est pas rose chez certains groupes de motards criminalisés. On sait d’ores et déjà que deux factions s’opposent à l’interne des Rock Machine soit celle menée par Jean-François Émard, basée à Casselman, dans l’Est ontarien, et celle dite de la 13e légion, représentée par Marc Guérin et le porte-paroleMario Dubé. Voilà maintenant qu’apparaît un autre groupe qui vient mêler les cartes soit les Satudarah qui entendraient faire leur place en Ontario. Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid, comme dit l’adage. Pour l’instant, les SatudarahMc comptent un seul chapitre au Canada, basé à Toronto. Leur présence au Canada contrarie des membres des Hells Angels ontariens, selon nos sources. Le fait que les Satudarah Mc tentent de recruter de nouveaux membres en Ontario pourrait causer des tensions avec les Hells à l’avenir, d’après nos informations. La tension se fait déjà sentir entre les deux groupes de mortards criminalisés Hell’s Angels d’un côté et Rock Machine de l’autre, les événements impliquant des membres des deux groupes à Casselman en avril dernier tendant à le confirmer. Le chef présumé des RockMachine, Jean- Comme vous le savez probablement déjà, Colacem désire construire une cimenterie moderne à L’Orignal. Cette nouvelle cimenterie créera de bons emplois et stimulera le développement économique dans la région. An aroma filled with caring and sharing as staff andmanagement from the Deloitte office in Hawkesbury gave up their “Casual Friday” to roll up their sleeves and get busy cooking to help make the Thanksgiving weekend a little bit special for clients of the L’Orignal Food Bank. Deloitte and its nation-wide offices host an annual Impact Day program for staff to take part in community service projects. This year the L’Orignal Food Bank is one of the beneficiaries of the program, which is wonderful news for the non-profit agency’s clients. “It’s a big, big benefit,” said Jacques Sandra Dallaire places cabbage rolls into a sauce-filled crockpot for cooking while Darquise Rouire brings over another tray for unloading. The two and other staff members from the Deloitte Touche office in Hawkesbury spent their Thanksgiving Friday in the kitchen preparing special home-cooked meals for the L’Orignal Food Bank’s clients to enjoy. —photo Gregg Chamberlain Lacelle, food bank president, just before heading in to report for his kitchen duty. “Our clients at the food bank are going to have some really good home-cookedmeals.” “The people just totally enjoy it,” said Barbara Starnino, a food bank director and also co-proprietor of Enrico’s Catering. “It’s homemade, and it gives it (Thanksgiving) a special touch.” Deloitte covers the expenses for the food used to prepare all the ready-to-cook-and- serve meals and the company’s staff does all the prep and kitchen work. By the end of Friday, more than 300 meals, ranging frompork loin-and-linguini alfredo to stuffed cabbage rolls, were ready and packed for delivery to the food bank and its clients. The inter- ior is more spacious and the trim more sophis- ticated. Luxury equipment includes a heated steering wheel, a driver’s seat with memory function, dual-zone automatic climate control and a navigation system with an eight-inch screen. The base engine is a new 2.0-L four-cylinder At- kinson-cycle producing 147 horsepower. This can be pegged to either a manual 6-speed or an auto- matic 6-speed transmission. To save you money at the pump, engine manufacturers have designed a 1.4-L four-cylinder turbo that generates 128 horse- power and 156 pound-feet of torque. Baptized the Eco, this all-new engine is offered with a new auto- matic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the compact SUV segment, Hyundai has redesigned the Tucson, giving it sportier lines in- spired by the Santa Fe Sport, which has also benefit- ed from an overhaul for 2017. The chassis has been strengthened to improve handling and comfort.
