Dear Friends, In celebration of National Volunteer month in April, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the more than 500 individuals who voluntarily share their time and talents helping Irvine Senior Services provide quality programs and activities. Senior Services volunteers contribute in many ways, such as helping to prepare and serve meals at the Rose Garden Café, providing technology tutoring, and driving seniors to medical appointments, to name just a few. The impacts of the contributions made by the Senior Services volunteers are immeasurable. So, please join us in celebrating National Volunteer Month by expressing your gratitude for their con- tinued service. If you would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities, please visit irvineseniors. org/volunteers or call 949-724-6096. Irvine Senior Services is excited to announce its first Spring Into Health Senior Fitness Challenge, which kicks off April 20. Be sure to sign up for this fun eight-week challenge that will motivate you to stay active and healthy. Learn more on Page 11. For more information on our programs and ser- vices, please visit one of our three senior centers or go to irvineseniors.org. Sincerely, Sheila Driscoll Community Services Manager

Sharing Your Passion

Did you know many of the City’s health, recreation, and education classes for seniors are taught by volunteers? Volunteer-led programs include bridge, mah jongg, computer programming, dance, music, English mentoring, and health and wellness classes. Irvine Senior Services would not be able to offer the wide variety of programming visitors enjoy without the time and dedication each of our volunteer instructors puts into teaching their classes. As we celebrate National Volunteer Month in April, we are proud to recognize the following six individuals who have served as volunteer instructors at Irvine senior centers for more than 10 years:

Do you have a talent or skill that you would like to share? Whether you have a love for cooking, years of dance experience, or the ability to teach someone how to use a computer, there may be an opportunity for you to share your knowledge with the Irvine senior community. To get involved or for more information, call 949-724-6096 or visit irvineseniors.org/volunteers.
