Dear Friends, On behalf of City of Irvine Senior Services, we would like to wish you a happy and healthy new year! To help you get off to a strong start, all three City senior centers are offering a variety of programs and activities. If your New Year’s resolution is to exercise, consider becoming a Senior Fitness Center member (see Page 19). Members have access to both senior fitness centers, onsite fitness coaches, and free Circuit Training classes. If you’re looking for a creative or crafty activity, expand your skills in the Brush Painting or Floral Design classes (see Page 4). From yoga, to walking, to boxing, there is something to fit every interest and ability (see Pages 12–20). We would love to see you for lunch at the Rose Garden Café. The nutrition program serves delicious, nutri- tious lunches Monday through Friday (see Page 14) in a congregate setting. Eat lunch and make new friends or catch up with familiar faces. We look forward to seeing you at the centers soon! Sincerely, Cory Hilderbrand Community Services Manager

Resources in the Irvine Community Seniors are the fastest-growing age group nationally and in Orange County. According to the OC Office on Aging, adults ages 60 and older account for 14.3% of the county’s population. That number is projected to increase to 17.3% by 2045. As you, or your loved ones, age, it is important to know what resources and services are available in the community to support independent living. • Irvine Senior Services provides a variety of resources, services, and activities for those ages 50 and older. The Keen Center for Senior Resources offers support and assistance to help seniors and their families cope with the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of aging. Centrally located at the Lakeview Senior Center, the Keen Center is the community’s destination for up-to-date senior resources and information (see page 29). • Recycle From Home™ is a residential program that helps Irvine residents recycle and get paid for their CA-CRV containers right from their driveway or doorstep. Recyclables are picked up and processed, and redemption is calculated for payment to residents electronically or as a mailed check. Recycle From Home™ is a California Beverage Container Recycling pilot program and its first partnership is with the City of Irvine. For more information on this program or to sign up, visit recyclefromhome.com . • Waste Management also offers special programs and services for qualifying Irvine residents including free sharps containers, Cart Walkout Service, At Your Door hazardous waste pickup, senior discounts, and more. You can learn more about these programs and submit your applications at wm.com/us/local/ca/irvine/residential . The City of Irvine is dedicated to connecting seniors in the community with the resources and services needed to support independent living. For more valuable resources, such as nutrition and transportation services, support groups, assistance programs, resource guides, and more, visit irvineseniors.org .
