School board trustees are the communi- ties’ representative on the board, advocating for the interests of the students and parents of the schools in their region, ensuring school policies benefit constituents, and communicating board decisions back to the community. Corina Parisien is returning to the UCDSB for her second term as a trustee. Parisien is focused on the UCDSB’s work on equity, inclusion and wellbeing. The return to school after pandemic restrictions has been difficult, and creating an environment where students
and staff feel comfortable and ready to learn is important to Parisien. This includes multi-lane roads but excludes traffic on the other side of a road with a median. Vehicle owners will be charged and fined if their vehicle illegally passes a stopped
school bus, even if they weren’t driving. The penalty ranges from $400 to $2,000 and six demerit points for a first offence, increasing to $1000 and $4000, six demerit points, and up to six months in jail for repeat offences. Parents are also encouraged to speak with children who walk or bike to school about safety guidelines.

The training program includes trades skills like welding, sandblasting, metal work, and general manufacturing. The CCM Academy Training program focuses on training students in marketing skills, making use of social media, graphic design, web design, advertising and sales techniques, and other media. If approved for grants in either one or both of these programs, Dynamo Playgrounds will make its job training openings available to local residents who want work and to individuals from other municipalities in Prescott-Russell. The company expects its program will help both its own labour needs and the needs of other businesses in the region. Alfred-Plantagenet Township council will provide Dynamo Playgrounds with a letter of support for its grant application.
A local company in Alfred-Plantagenet Township has a plan to help itself avoid any labour shortage problems. Dynamo Playgrounds wants to take advan- tage of two grant programs offered through 5#/$BOBEB5IFGFEFSBMBHFODZGPDVTFTPO programs and projects that help individuals restore confidence in themselves and renew their self-respect through job training. The local company wants to apply for funding aid from the Second Chance program and the CCM Academy Training project. Second Chance helps people with disabilities or who have a prison record to get vocational training and education that helps them find and keep jobs and allows them to become part of the community. Le conseil municipal du canton d’Alfred- Plantagenet a reçu une brève mise à jour sur l’avancement du projet d’un nouvel étang d’épuration des eaux usées pour le village de Plantagenet. «Les choses progressent assez bien», a déclaré l’administrateur en chef Michel Potvin, lors de la séance du conseil du 23 août. Il a indiqué au conseil que le rapport EÊWBMVBUJPOFOWJSPOOFNFOUBMF && TVS le projet d’agrandissement du bassin de traitement des eaux usées du village devrait être terminé et prêt à être examiné par le nouveau conseil du canton au printemps prochain. Une fois l’évaluation environnementale acceptée et approuvée par le conseil et le gouvernement provincial, le projet passe à la phase de conception. Cela peut prendre un an, ce qui comprend le processus d’embauche d’un ingénieur-conseil. Lorsque la conception finale d’une lagune plus vaste sera approuvée, le projet fera l’objet d’un appel d’offres public pour le contrat de construction. M. Potvin a fait remarquer que la construction proprement dite du bassin de stabilisation plus grand peut prendre un ou deux ans.

L’ACSM commémore la Journée mondiale de la prévention du suicide
Chaque moment peut faire toute la différence. C’est le message partagé par des gens, organismes, politiciens et porte-paroles pour commémorer la Journée mondiale de la prévention du suicide le 10 septembre. L’Association canadienne pour la prévention du suicide (ACPS) estime que chaque jour au Canada, 11 personnes mettent fin à leur vie et 210 font un attentat de suicide. Le suicide ne connait ni âge, statut social ou économique, ethnicité ou frontière. La tragédie d’un suicide impacte une communauté en entier. Sensibiliser les gens au suicide ouvre la porte afin de recevoir de l’aide, de ranimer l’espoir et pour guérir. L’ACPS encourage les canadiennes et canadiens à participer à la Journée mondiale pour la prévention du suicide en : • Portant un ruban de la prévention du suicide. • Partageant un message d’espoir sur les médias sociaux. • Tendant la main à un ami ou un membre de la famille qui souffre et leur demander s’ils veulent en parler.
Même si tous les suicides ne peuvent être évités, il existe des stratégies pour réduire le risque : • Recevoir des traitements, soins et soutiens pour les problèmes de santé mentale en plus d’avoir une bonne relation avec un médecin et autres professionnels dans le domaine de la santé. • Rester en contact avec une équipe de soins ou un programme communautaire afin de gérer le stress et de surveiller les pensées de suicide. • Établir un réseau de soutien social, tel que famille, amis, groupe de pairs ou relation avec un groupe culturel ou une communauté religieuse. • Apprendre de bonnes techniques d’adaptation à fin de résoudre des problèmes et d’avoir confiance en ses habiletés d’adaptation. Des stratégies de prévention universelles recommandées par l’Organisation mondiale de santé incluent également l’accès aux soins de santé et la couverture médiatique responsable. Larry Boswell’s small frame and soft- spoken nature, his voice a low rumble nearly inaudible amongst the neighs, moos, snorts and clucks, belies the confidence with which he navigates around the traffic of farm animals. One large turkey in particular, Edward, who saw this reporter as a threat, proved a formidable foe, puffing up his feathers, kicking and slapping with his wings. Boswell paid him no mind and quietly asked volunteer Katia Albert to take the self-appointed guard turkey away. “Edward doesn’t particularly like men,” said Albert, as she hoisted the massive bird into her arms, shuttling him into an enclosure with some ducks. With Edward’s efforts frustrated, Boswell continued the tour of his family’s farm animal sanctuary. Penny Lane Farm Sanctuary started in Vars in 2010, rescuing and rehabilitating IPSTFTBUUIFXJTIFTPG-BSSZBOE/BODZ Boswell’s daughter, Karyn. Eventually, the sanctuary grew to upwards of 30 horses, UIFOUIF.POUSÊBM4PDJFUZGPSUIF1SFWFOUJPO of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) asked them if they wanted a couple goats as well. “And then it spread from there,” said Boswell. /PX MPDBUFE PO NPSF UIBO BDSFT in Saint-Pascal-Baylon, Penny Lane cares for hundreds of animals. Goats, turkeys, pigs, cows, horses, ducks, donkeys, a llama named Henry and two rare twin geeps, an accidental cross between a goat and a TIFFQ.PTUPGUIFBOJNBMTBU1FOOZ-BOF were once abused, neglected and destined for slaughter or euthanasia. Through the Boswell’s connections with locals, farmers, the SPCA and a network of animal rescue organizations, these animals live out their lives under the care of Boswell and a lengthy list of more than 30 volunteers. “The work they do is absolutely critical,” said Tammy Benoit, special placements manager at the SPCA. The cost of keeping farm animals is often prohibitive, and sanctuaries are underfunded and at or beyond their capacity to take in

Elle fut prédécédée par son fils Raymond (feu Lorraine Parent), sa sœur Grace, et ses frères Roland (feu Thérèse Turmel) et Lauréat (feu Renée Rousseau).
