WHALES SHIP STRIKES
At least 14 humpbacks and minke whales have been found dead thus far in 2023 in waters off New York and New Jersey — up from 9 in the entirety of last year. Collisions can be prevented with the commitment of the shipping industry, partners, and consumers at the end of the supply chain. Friend of the Sea has created the Whale-Safe certification program to engage all parties in saving whales.

Sriracha sauce is selling for as much as $120 amid prolonged shortage
Continual chili supply disruptions are hampering production within one of the nation’s leading sriracha sauce manufacturers for a second year in a row.
The prolonged shortage of a certain red sauce is making the black market go wild.
Prices of Sriracha sauce are as high as $70 on eBay as people look to snap up the spicy sauce — and they’re even steeper on Amazon, up to $124. Huy Fong Foods, which makes the rooster-adorned bottled sauce, has been dealing with a years-long shortage of the chilli, which is hurting production and causing some shortages

Elon Musk went on a firing frenzy at Twitter.
He perceived people as Type X who dislike work, have little ambition, and are unwilling to take responsibility.
Musk fired half of Twitter ’ s workers, then threatened to fire any remaining dissenters and demanded that the rest pledge to accept “ long hours at high intensity ” – leading to the resignations last week of an estimated 1,200 additional Twitter employees
.
Now he’s paying for it
A week later he tried to hire back some of the people he fired

Twitter is a shell – an office building, some patents and a brand – without the capacity to improve or even sustain its service.

Key questions for the organization to consider
Are leadership competencies still practical ?
When was the leadership development program re- designed?
How does the organization adapt its communication methods to accommodate diverse styles?
Are there mentorship programs in place that facilitate power (and knowledge) transition ?
How does the organization gather feedback, and is it tailored to capture the opinions and perspectives of employees from various age groups?
Are there regular forums or town hall meetings where young workers can openly discuss their perspectives, concerns, and ideas related to workplace policies?

A Chinese woman held 16 jobs for 3 years and never showed up to work, report says
The woman, named only by the pseudonym of Guan Yue, was part of a massive labor-fraud scheme worth almost $7 million, the Chinese state-owned newspaper Xinmin reported.
The paper said Guan kept track of all her hirings on a sheet of paper and, when interviewing for a new job, would post pictures from the interview in her companies' work channels, claiming she was meeting clients.
When she got more job offers than she could handle, she'd pass the job to a friend, taking a commission on the role, the paper reported, in a major investigation that Insider was unable to independently verify.

the motions of work without actually being present
Presenteeism
Presenteeism was first introduced as a term to describe the behavior of continuing to work while sick or emotionally troubled Recently, the use of this term has also been extended to the scenario of employees being physically present at work, while mentally detached . These are the employees who show up to work every single day, they attend all mandatory meetings, all while being depleted of any form of motivation. The result is obvious: productivity decreases
