"We have grown fast and furious since our inception," says Latoya Faustin, the Executive Director of She Built This City. "Demi got tired of being the only woman in the room and translated her passion for gender equity into this mission."
Written by: Skylar Grey |Editor in Chief
In an industry where the sound of hammers and drills has long echoed the dominance of men, a powerful revolution is rising. This revolution is driven by an organization with a fierce commitment to gender equity and inclusivity. Founded in 2019 by Demi Knight Clark, a seasoned construction veteran, She Built This City is a nonprofit that is transforming lives by providing women and communities of color with unprecedented opportunities in the skilled trades.
From the outset, the vision for She Built This City was bold and clear: to challenge the gender imbalance in the construction industry by empowering women with the skills and opportunities they deserve. "The initial premise of the organization was women," Faustin explains. "There’s a whole 50% of the population that has typically not been engaged in the skilled trades, not for lack of desire, but for lack of access and on- ramps."
6
The approach is all-encompassing, starting with girls as young as seven and extending to adult women seeking full-time employment in the trades. "We start at age seven all the way up to hiring women for critical home repair work," Faustin says. "We’re showing little girls how to build with tools and materials that are traditionally seen as part of the trades." By engaging girls at such a young age, She Built This City is not just teaching them how to use a hammer or a drill; they are instilling confidence, ambition, and a sense of belonging in an industry that has historically shut them out. These young girls, once limited to dreaming within the confines of societal expectations, are now envisioning futures as electricians, carpenters, and builders.
She Built This City’s programs are designed to cater to different stages of interest and skill development. Their initiatives include youth and community programming, a two-year, full-time Apprenticeship Program where women earn while they learn, focusing on critical home repair. Additionally, they offer a 9-week "Tour of the Trades" Pre- Apprenticeship program, providing an intensive introduction to the various skilled trades. "We offer a 2-year Apprenticeship Program and our 9-week Pre-Apprenticeship, giving participants multiple pathways into the trades," Faustin notes. For those interested in applying for the pre- apprenticeship program, they can do by using this link. 7
8
Men are welcome to apply for the programming, and they encourage allies of She Built This City to amplify their mission and vision.
The ripple effect of She Built This City's mission extends beyond individual empowerment—it is about transforming entire communities. Their programs include a two-year, full-time training and apprenticeship model where women earn while they learn, focusing on critical home repair. "Right now, the average cost of our repairs is less than $2,000 per home, and we serve over 100 homes a year," Faustin notes. The organization’s unwavering commitment to quality and community-centric services shines through in their holistic approach. "We make sure that we are fully considering the community that we're serving," Faustin emphasizes. This includes free job training programs, barrier removal support, and wraparound services like on-site child supervision.
What truly sets She Built This City apart is its proactive stance on addressing the industry's needs and gaps. "We need the construction industry to have maternity leave policies, PPE that fits women, and safe job sites," Faustin insists. "If we cannot see the industry move fast enough to meet our needs, we need to be that impetus."
This determination is propelling She Built This City towards expansion.
9
Faustin envisions a future where the organization not only trains women but also competes as a subcontractor in the industry. "We will be the diverse subcontractors that project needs. If you don't step up your game, we're going to take your business."
Future an entrepreneurship program to help women who graduate from their training programs start their own businesses. This initiative will reinvest in the ecosystem of Minority Women- Owned Business Enterprises (MWMBEs), fostering a sustainable model of empowerment and economic growth. A Call to Action plans include launching
The Future of She Built This City
Looking forward, She Built This City is poised for remarkable growth. The organization aims to expand its project scope and continue its push for gender and racial equity in the trades. "There is room for growth. There's a woman out there who needs a job, and we have a job for her. She just doesn't know we exist," Faustin says passionately.
Faustin’s message to the industry is unambiguous: "Are you creating an environment that's welcoming for women?”
“It's not for the sake of having a DEI pillar. It's the job force here. You need this."
10
11
In Faustin’s own words, "We’re coming. If we can't foster change otherwise, we will foster change by becoming your competition." With leaders like Latoya Faustin at the helm, the future looks promising for women in construction, and the industry itself stands to benefit from this transformative change. She Built This City is not just an organization; it’s a movement towards a more inclusive, equitable, and skilled construction industry.
She Built This City is building more than just structures; they are constructing;
Join us in this mission – She Built This City is not just changing the industry, They’re building a new future.

In the competitive world of luxury home construction, standing out is no easy feat. Yet, Forbes Lilford, the dynamic force behind Headstrong Homes, has carved a unique niche, blending passion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to quality. This Canadian-born entrepreneur, now making waves in Florida's real estate market, shared his remarkable journey and vision for the future in a candid interview. Headstrong Homes From Farm Dreams to Architectural Ambitions Lilford's story begins on a farm, where dreams of building homes took root early. "I grew up on a farm, chasing cows and throwing hay bales," he reminisces. Despite battling severe dyslexia and ADHD, he nurtured a passion for architecture. "I wanted to go to school to be an architect, but traditional schooling was challenging," he admits. Undeterred, he pivoted to a business degree, leveraging his sales acumen to fund his dream of building houses. "My journey wasn't smooth. I graduated from one of the top high schools in Canada and aimed for an architectural program, but the path required an arts degree, which was excruciatingly boring for me," he explains. "I ended up getting a business degree, which came easier to me. From there, I got into real estate, saved enough money, and built my first house, though it was a financial disaster. I lost $200,000 learning what not to do."
20
Learning the Hard Knocks Way
Forbes path was fraught with financial and logistical challenges, but these experiences forged his resilient and adaptive approach. "I've been doing this for 20 years now, and I think I've learned most of my lessons—at least the expensive ones," he says with a wry smile. His initial challenges taught him invaluable lessons that shaped the ethos of Headstrong Homes. Attention to Detail: A Defining Trait One of the most distinguishing features of Headstrong Homes is its meticulous attention to detail. Forbes personally designs all his projects, ensuring that every home is a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality. "A lot of builders just follow the plans without question. I critique them and discuss concerns with homeowners," he explains. This hands-on approach ensures that each project is tailored to the client's vision while remaining practical, cost-effective and structurally sound. Forbes emphasizes the importance of cost- efficiency without compromising quality. "We evaluate every aspect of the design, looking for ways to save money. For example, placing windows in closets might seem like a good idea aesthetically, but it’s often unnecessary and costly. We help our clients make these decisions to optimize their budgets," he says. Forbes ensures to source products from various countries to maintain a balance between budget and high quality. This demonstrates his commitment to going above and beyond
21
Building Relationships: The Family Approach Lilford’s leadership style is as unique as his design philosophy. "I run our company like a family. Everyone is treated as an equal, especially when it comes to addressing each other with respect, from our clients to our tradespeople," he says. This ethos fosters a collaborative environment where respect and motivation thrive. "Our tradespeople enjoy working with us because there's mutual respect, which isn’t common in this industry," he adds. The family approach extends to clients as well. "When you work with us, you're part of the family. We want you to feel comfortable and involved in every step of the process. This approach ensures that everyone is happy from start to finish," Lilford explains. This inclusive atmosphere not only builds trust but also leads to a more cohesive and enjoyable building experience for all parties involved. Global Ambitions with a Local Touch While based in Florida, Headstrong Homes’ reach is expanding rapidly. "We’re building five-to-six-million-dollar homes and bidding on large-scale projects, such as a 21-unit high-end custom home gated subdivision, where we manage the entire project from start to finish. for his clients, ensuring that both budgetary constraints and quality standards are met at the highest level.
Additionally, we are bidding on significant apartment complexes, with the most recent one consisting of 21 buildings totaling over 600,000 square feet of living space." Forbes shares. Their geographic footprint is widening, with potential projects in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Moreover, they are in the process of opening operations in the Cayman Islands, a testament to their growing influence. "We are also about to open up in the Cayman Islands," Lilford reveals. "Geographically, we can handle projects anywhere in Florida, and we're talking to people about doing stuff in other states that recognize our GC’s license. This expansion is a strategic move to tap into new markets and bring our unique approach to more clients."
22
Instead, their reputation is built on the satisfaction of past clients and the quality of their work. "Doing a great job and taking care of people is our best form of advertising," he asserts. The company’s success is a testament to the power of word-of-mouth marketing. "We do social media, but it’s hit or miss. Our best clients come from referrals, and this keeps us at the top of the food chain," he says. This organic growth strategy has allowed Headstrong Homes to maintain a high standard of quality and client satisfaction without the overhead costs associated with traditional advertising. Word of Mouth: The Ultimate Endorsement
Looking ahead, Forbes envisions Headstrong Homes becoming a global brand. "I would like it to be of a worldwide company," he says. Their approach to expansion is methodical, focusing on ironing out initial challenges in new markets before scaling up. "In Florida, we spent five years perfecting our process. Now, we're ready to replicate this success elsewhere," he explains. The future looks bright for Headstrong Homes, with plans to continue their growth trajectory. "We are growing exponentially, getting projects left, right, and center. With no advertising, it’s just word of mouth and trades bringing us more projects," Lilford notes. When tradespeople endorse builders, it is a clear indication of the builder's excellence. Such referrals are significant, as tradespeople stake their own reputations on these recommendations, reflecting a deep trust and high level of satisfaction with the builder's work. This rapid expansion is a testament to the company's solid reputation and the high demand for their unique approach to home building.
A Vision for the Future
23
A key aspect of Headstrong Homes' success is their innovative approach to sourcing materials. "We bring in products from all over the world to help save people money on their builds," Lilford explains. "For example, we get baseboards and trim, solid core doors, and everything like that about 20% cheaper than you can buy MDF for in Florida." This cost-saving strategy extends to other materials as well. "We shipped all the tile from Toronto. It was better quality and cheaper than what we could get in Florida. We also brought in custom cabinets from Toronto, which were about 30% cheaper than local options," he says. This innovative approach ensures that clients get high-quality products at competitive prices. Innovative and Cost- Effective Solutions
Lilford emphasizes the importance of transparency in maintaining strong client relationships. "We operate on a cost-plus program, so clients see all the invoices from the trades and the different pricings. This transparency is crucial for building trust," he explains. By being open about costs and potential challenges, Headstrong Homes fosters a collaborative environment where clients feel informed and involved. "Construction is a process, and it’s never completely painless. There are always challenges and frustrations along the way," Lilford admits. "But when everything comes together, and the clients see their dream become a reality, they are over the moon. That’s the most rewarding part of what we do." Navigating Challenges with Transparency
24
Among the many impressive projects completed by Headstrong Homes, Lilford highlights a few notable ones. "The house we just finished in Florida is a great one to highlight. It’s an Airbnb property, purpose- built for renting," he says. This project showcases the company’s ability to deliver high-quality, functional homes tailored to specific needs. Another standout project is Lilford's own residence in Toronto. "It’s an 8,000-square- foot home with car lifts, elevators, and a gymnasium under the garage," he describes. "It’s been featured in Azure Magazine and represents the high-end, custom work we’re capable of." Highlighting Signature Projects
At the core of Headstrong Homes is a dedication to making dreams come true. "Our focus on attention to detail, transparency, and treating everyone like family sets us apart," Lilford states. This commitment to excellence ensures that every project, whether a small renovation or a multi-million-dollar custom home, is completed to the highest standards. As Headstrong Homes continues to grow, their mission remains the same: to build beautiful, functional homes that exceed client expectations. Commitment to Quality and Client Satisfaction
25
26
"We want to ensure that every client is thrilled with the final product," Lilford affirms. "That’s what drives us and what will continue to drive us as we expand into new markets." The Journey Ahead Forbes Lilford's journey from a humble farm in Canada to leading a successful construction company in Florida is a testament to the power of perseverance, innovation, and a commitment to quality. Headstrong Homes stands out in the luxury home market not just for their stunning designs but for their unwavering dedication to their clients and tradespeople. As they continue to expand, their unique approach and family-oriented philosophy will undoubtedly lead to even greater success and recognition in the industry.Headstrong Homes is gaining recognition from prestigious sources, most notably being recently Brian Baumler Approved. Forbes Lilford's unwavering commitment to quality and excellence is starting to receive the acknowledgment it deserves. This approval from a renowned figure in the industry not only validates the hard work and dedication that have been poured into every project but also solidifies that Forbes and his team are steering Headstrong Homes in the right direction, setting a new standard for excellence in the construction industry.

When you think of the Escobedo Group, images of unparalleled craftsmanship, innovative construction methods, and a relentless pursuit of perfection come to mind. This family- owned business, led by David Escobedo, has carved a unique niche in the high-end residential construction market. Through a recent interview with David Escobedo, it became evident that the company’s success is rooted in a deep-seated commitment to quality and a forward-thinking approach to construction. A Legacy of Craftsmanship The Escobedo Group's story is one of generational expertise and evolving vision. David Escobedo recalls the origins of the company, tracing it back to his father’s post-World War II era endeavors. "My father started the company after he got out of World War II when he saw the need for houses.” After the war, the returning soldiers faced the challenge of reintegrating into civilian life and needed to find new careers. David's father and his friends saw an opportunity in the burgeoning housing market, driven by the post-war economic boom and the demand for new homes. “Initially, they began building houses in Corpus Christi, Texas, capitalizing on the skills they had acquired during the war and the camaraderie they had developed. "It was a time of great optimism and opportunity," David explains.

31
"They wanted to create something lasting and meaningful." As the business grew, they decided to move to Houston, where the market was more promising and opportunities for expansion were greater. This early foundation in Corpus Christi and later in Houston laid the groundwork for the meticulous craftsmanship that would become synonymous with the Escobedo name. David reflects on how these early experiences shaped his own approach to the business. "Growing up in the industry, I learned the value of hard work and attention to detail from a very young age. My father always emphasized the importance of quality and integrity in everything we did." This philosophy has been the cornerstone of the Escobedo Group’s operations, influencing every project and decision.
David’s move to Austin in 1983 marked a significant turning point. Initially known for his work as a subcontractor, David quickly gained a reputation for handling complex and unique projects. One such project, inspired by Mayan architecture, showcased his ability to tackle challenging designs, further establishing his name in the industry. "This very complicated house came up. My name came up to do it, and it was themed after Mayan architecture, which was really interesting. That was around 1995. It was a massive challenge due to its intricate design and structural requirements, but we managed to pull it off successfully. That project was a turning point because it demonstrated our capability to handle exceptionally complicated and unique designs," he recalls.

32
One of the most striking aspects of the Escobedo Group is their reliance on word- of-mouth referrals. “Ninety-nine percent of our work is word of mouth,” David notes. Their client base, composed predominantly of high-net-worth individuals, often includes entrepreneurs who appreciate the challenges of building a business and recognize the quality of work the Escobedo Group delivers. David emphasizes the mutual respect and understanding between his team and their clients. "I think that's why we attract each other because they know how difficult it is to break into any market, and then they see the success that we’ve had and our quality level" he says. This shared entrepreneurial spirit fosters strong relationships and ensures a steady stream of projects. The Dario Panelized System: Innovation in Construction Word of Mouth: The Best Advertisement A key component of the Escobedo Group’s modern success is their innovative Dario Panelized System, named in honor of David's father. This construction method not only promises faster build times but also ensures superior quality and environmental sustainability. David explains, "With the Dario Panelized system, we can cut the construction time by 6 months or more, which is very important to our clients."

33
The Dario system represents a significant departure from traditional building methods. By constructing wall panels in a controlled environment and assembling them on-site, the Escobedo Group minimizes the environmental impact and enhances precision. “The precision of it... level of quality, I hate to say it, pretty dang close to exact,” David proudly states. He continues, "We self-perform 90% of the work in-house, which means we're not just labor brokers subbing everything out. We do the excavation, concrete, steel framing, stonework, millwork, cabinets, moldings, doors, and steel fabrication ourselves. an unprecedented level of control over the quality and timing of our projects." This allows us to maintain

David system’s environmental benefits, noting, "Instead of five dumpsters to build one house... we want to have five construction garbage bags." This efficiency not only reduces waste but also underscores their commitment to sustainability. elaborates on the "I'm not a tree hugger, but I do care about the environment," David adds, highlighting the company's use of 60% recycled materials in their steel. "We're using recycled materials wherever possible, and our insulation methods exceed most municipal requirements, making our buildings more energy-efficient and sustainable."

Future Growth
Looking ahead, the Escobedo Group is poised for growth, particularly with the expansion of the Dario Panelized system. David reveals plans to push the Dario system more aggressively, especially with their "shell package," which has garnered interest from regions like Phoenix, Nevada, New York, and Miami. "We want to do more projects that are financially reachable by more people," he states, indicating a shift towards making high-quality construction more accessible. David adds, "The shell package is essentially a way for us to deliver the core structural components of a house— walls, roof, insulation and waterproofing —while allowing the client to handle the interior finishes. This approach not only makes our system more affordable but also empowers clients to personalize their homes to a greater extent." David also mentions the company's geographical reach, emphasizing their ability to manage projects far beyond their Texas base. "The furthest we have gone with Dario is Colorado... we have one Dario project in Dallas right now that is a very large project," he says, showcasing the system’s flexibility and appeal across various locations. "The Colorado project was particularly rewarding as it was for a repeat client who appreciated the innovation and efficiency of our Dario system. We're also seeing growing interest from major cities across the country, which is exciting as it means our reputation is spreading."
A Family Affair
At its core, the Escobedo Group is a family business. David’s wife and children are integral parts of the company, each contributing to its operations and growth. This family involvement extends to their workforce, many of whom have been with the company for decades. “Our longevity is up to 40 years of employment... most of our staff has been with the company from 10 years to 40 years,” David notes, underscoring the deep-rooted loyalty and expertise within the team.
David’s pride in his team is evident as he speaks of their dedication and skill.

"We have some of the best craftsmen in the United States... everyone here is good at what they do," he says. This loyalty extends to their subcontractors as well. "Our roofer, for example, has been with us for over 30 years. He just by chance happens to be out of Dallas, so he's working on the Dallas project for us. There are certain people that I won't waver on using because they have the same mentality, and they know who we are and what we expect." He further elaborates on the company's approach to subcontractors, highlighting the long-term relationships they've built over the years.

The Secret Sauce: Quality and Passion subcontractors are built on mutual respect and trust. We rely on them to deliver the same level of quality and dedication that we promise our clients." "We've brought in new project managers, and they're used to a more adversarial approach with subcontractors. However, we believe in building strong, respectful relationships. For instance, our plumber has been with us for 35 years. He does all of our plumbing, and even though he might be 10% more expensive, he's the best plumber for the type of work we do. The same goes for our electrician and our painter," David explains. "Our relationships with
David attributes much of the Escobedo Group’s success to their unwavering commitment to quality and integrity. "One of the fundamental principles we uphold is to do what you say you're going to do. If you promise something and then fail to deliver, that's the first step towards damaging your reputation," he asserts. This philosophy is deeply embedded in every aspect of their operations, from the initial design phase to the final construction. "Our work is unique and unparalleled. The level of service we provide, in its entirety, sets us apart from others. The quality we deliver is of utmost importance to us," David adds. The company’s approach to quality control is meticulous and hands-on, reflecting David’s passion and dedication. "I still get myself into trouble because I'm so passionate about what we do," he admits with a chuckle.

"I remember a client from Dallas telling me, 'David, when I talk to you, your enthusiasm and passion for what you do is contagious. It makes me excited to move forward with the project.' Hearing that kind of feedback really fuels our drive to excel." David also emphasizes the importance of building long-lasting relationships with clients through honesty and transparency. "Being straightforward and delivering on promises is crucial. If you say you'll do something, you must follow through. That's how you build trust and maintain a solid reputation," he explains. This approach has undoubtedly contributed to the Escobedo Group's esteemed standing in the industry. David’s fervor for his work is infectious, resonating not only with clients but also with his entire team.
"Our commitment to quality isn't just about the end product. It's about the process, the attention to detail, and the passion we bring to every project," he says. In discussing the company's ethos, David reflects on the pride he takes in his team and their shared mission. "What we achieve together is remarkable. Our craftsmen are some of the best and their dedication to their craft is evident in every project we undertake. It's this collective commitment to excellence that defines the Escobedo Group," he states. A Legacy Built on a Commitment to Innovation

The Escobedo Group stands out not just for its luxurious, high-quality builds but for its innovative approach and commitment to sustainability. David Escobedo’s passion and dedication are palpable, as is his gratitude for the talented team and loyal clients who have made their success possible. In a world where craftsmanship and quality often take a backseat, the Escobedo Group shines as a beacon of excellence and integrity in the construction industry. With the Dario Panelized system, they are not only transforming how homes are built but also setting new standards for environmental responsibility and efficiency. As David succinctly puts it, "We are big enough now that I don't have to be in every meeting, but I still want to be involved. It's about maintaining the quality and passion that got us here." As the Escobedo Group continues to innovate and expand, their focus remains on delivering unparalleled quality and fostering strong relationships with their clients. "Our clients often say, 'David, I thought that was very expensive, but now that you're finished, it's far more than I expected. The value that you've given me is far more than you know,'" David recounts. It’s clear that not only does the Escobedo Group currently redefine the benchmark for luxury construction, it will continue to do so for many generations to come. BUILDING THE FUTURE ON A FOUNDATION OF LEGACY
When tracing the lineage of some of the most reputable construction firms in the United States, Ahrens Companies stands out with a heritage that stretches back to the mid-19th century. Originally founded in 1844 in St. Louis, Missouri, the company has evolved remarkably over generations, moving operations to Camden, New Jersey, in 1876 and later to West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1902. Today, under the stewardship of Richard Ahrens, a sixth-generation Ahrens, the company continues to uphold a legacy of quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
From Humble Beginnings to Industry Titan
Richard Ahrens, who began acquiring the company in 1970 after graduating from the University of Florida in 1969, reflects on the historical significance of his family's business: "I’m sixth generation and you know I've continued in the footsteps of my great- grandfather, my grandfather, and my dad in the company. We have continued the legacy, and we continue to exceed our clients' expectations, which go back to 1902." This deep-rooted history has not only shaped the company's ethos but also its enduring relationships with clients and partners. The story of Ahrens Companies is one of resilience and adaptation. Founded in the bustling industrial landscape of 19th-century America, the company initially comprised three distinct businesses: a building supply company, an ironworks facility, and a construction firm. This diversification allowed the company to build a robust foundation, adapting to the changing needs of the construction industry over time.

The longevity of Ahrens Companies is not merely due to its historical significance but also its ability to adapt and innovate continually. "We know a tremendous amount of people, and a lot of the work we get is additional manufacturing plants or facilities or new expansion facilities for people that were involved prior to me," Richard explains. This network, built over decades, is a testament to the trust and reliability Ahrens Companies has fostered within the industry. The company’s vast network of contacts has been instrumental in securing projects and building lasting relationships. Many of their clients have been with the company for generations, demonstrating a trust that is rare in today's fast-paced business world. This trust is not just based on past performance but on the company's continuous commitment to quality. Sustaining a Network Through Generations Embracing Innovation: The Helix Advantage The company’s philosophy has always been about thinking outside the box and integrating new technologies. Richard Ahrens shared, "I was taught by my grandfather and my father to always think outside the box, which we do. We’re always thinking of better ways, always looking at new innovations in technology which we’ve used." One of the prime examples of Ahrens Companies innovative approach is their use of Helix steel fibers instead of traditional reinforcing steel in foundations and slabs.

Enhancing Client Relationships Through Personal Involvement
Richard elaborates, "Helix, for example, is a steel fiber, instead of reinforcing steel in foundations and slabs with wire mesh. I started in 2005. Actually, if you go to our website, The Bonsal Company in Pompano Beach job is one of the first ones that we did." This forward-thinking approach is evident in their ongoing projects and has allowed them to improve construction efficiency and quality significantly. "In Florida, we’ve done well over a million square feet using the Helix in lieu of rebar and wire mesh, which creates a lot of advantages – no puncture in your vapor barrier, no rebar to put in place. We can reduce the slab thicknesses. It speeds construction, reduces cracking," Richard added.
Ahrens Companies success can be attributed to its unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. Richard emphasizes personal involvement and strong communication with clients: "I’m personally involved in every project. I’m involved on the design side, on the estimating side, and then I’m involved on the construction side." This hands-on approach ensures that every project meets the high standards set by the company and aligns with the client's expectations.

The firm's ability to maintain long-term relationships with clients is a cornerstone of its business model. "Our analysis, our forward-thinking on design and creativity, which is way more advanced than the typical contractor... It becomes a team, not adversarial, not an owner-architect- contractor, it's an owner and architect- contractor in-house and we become a team," Richard explains. This collaborative approach minimizes conflicts and enhances project outcomes. Richard’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the traditions passed down through his family. His grandfather and father instilled in him the importance of building strong, personal relationships with clients. This personal touch has become a hallmark of Ahrens Companies, differentiating it from many competitors who rely solely on transactional business relationships. Rigorous Quality Control Measures Quality control at Ahrens Companies is rigorous and systematic. Richard mentions, "We monitor on a daily basis. As I stated earlier, and I’m aware of it, I can personally look at job site photographs every night because we mandate that we get a minimum of 10 photographs per project per day. We control quality because we do have a quality control checklist." This meticulous attention to detail ensures that all projects adhere to the highest standards. The company employs a comprehensive quality control system that includes daily monitoring and detailed checklists. This system allows Ahrens Companies to catch potential issues early and ensure that every aspect of a project meets their rigorous standards.
Maintaining excellent relationships with subcontractors is also a priority for Ahrens Companies. "We have had a lot of our subcontractors working with us for 20 years. They know what we expect of them, and we know what they expect of us. So once again, it's a team relationship," Richard notes. This long-standing collaboration with trusted subcontractors ensures consistency and reliability across all projects. Subcontractors are an integral part of the construction process, and Ahrens Companies has developed a robust system for vetting and maintaining these relationships. Each subcontractor is required to meet stringent standards and carry the appropriate insurance levels. Subcontractor Relationships Built on Trust
