Les pompiers répondaient au déclenchement de l’alarme d’incendie. Une fois sur les lieux, ceux-ci ont découvert que la cause de cette alarme n’était nulle autre que de la vapeur créée par un accessoire de cigarette électrique. « C’est une première pour nous, a fait valoir un pompier de Clarence-Rockland. En effet, certains membres de la famille de la victime demeurent à Calgary et n’étaient pas en mesure de se déplacer à Rockland pour participer aux funérailles de M. Jobin. Traffic lights are up at the Wendover intersection of County Roads 17 and 19 and the speed limit for that section is also back up. D’ici la fin décembre, 1267 lampadaires sur la majorité du territoire de la municipalité seront changés. « Ces travaux n’auront aucun effet sur la circulation, mais nous demandons aux automobilistes de conduire avec une prudence accrue dans les zones de travail et de respecter la signalisation qui accompagnera les travailleurs », a rappelé un représentant de la municipalité. Selon le gouvernement fédéral du Canada, une ampoule DEL est un dispositif à semiconducteur (diode) capable d’émettre de la lumière lorsqu’un courant électrique le traverse. Contrairement aux ampoules à incandescence, lesquelles utilisent seulement 5 % de l’énergie pour produire de la lumière et gaspillent le reste en chaleur, les DEL utilisent l’énergie de façon plus efficace. —photo fournie

The love of sports runs deep in 10-year- old Gavin Shaw’s veins. “He definitely wants to get back to playing soccer and hockey,” explained Kevin Shaw, the boy’s father. The fifth grader from St. Patrick’s Catholic School was diagnosed with a tumor on the back of his brain, back in September.
