WELCOME
The payroll, pension and reward industries are constantly changing and since beginning my career in payroll, the profession has been re-vamped by technology and legislation updates. One thing that has, and always will remain a constant through all of this, is the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).
This year has seen a huge amount of change and we have adapted quickly to ensure we can still deliver an impeccable service to our members, delegates and students. Within a matter of days, we moved our entire training portfolio onto our online platform. Our qualifications where also moved onto an online platform ensuring students were still able to study with us and not miss out on their learning. We also successfully moved all our events online, including our Annual Conference and Exhibition, Annual Excellence Awards and our National Payroll Week activities. In fact, this year saw our most successful National Payroll Week to date, with close to 5,500 packs downloaded by payrollers across the UK, allowing them to join in the celebrations together. These celebrations were much needed this year, as payrollers took on more than they ever have before and still ensured they kept the UK paid. Our policy team have dedicated this year to ensuring we can assist every payroller with the constant changes in legislation and guidance. They produced numerous fact sheets, webcasts and breaking news articles to ensure that no-one needs to struggle to find the information they need to perform their role. CIPP membership facilitates access to our Advisory Service helpline, the extra member of your payroll team. They’re on hand to answer your technical questions, assisting with confidence and compliance. The service has replied to a record number of queries this year and continues to provide much needed support to the payroll industry.
We sit on more government consultation forums than any other payroll organisation in the UK, representing our members on over 300* pieces of legislation. Doing this allows us to identify areas where the payroll profession needs assistance.
We are leading the profession through education, membership and recognition.
Ken Pullar FCIPP Chief executive officer
WHAT’SNEW? We have introduced four one-hour e-learning ‘basics’ courses to aid those new to the profession.
We now produce an array of fact cards and webcasts with each government update to ensure you have the information you need at your fingertips. Chartered membership provides payroll professionals the chance to become recognised as the highest level in their profession. Our Compact Payroll Reference Book is an invaluable guide to all things payroll and is now a membership benefit for all associate members and above.
Please note that the CIPP continually updates its products and services to ensure that they meet the needs of the industry; therefore content is subject to change without prior notification. Please visit cipp.org.uk for the most up to date information.
