COLIN BARKER

About the Award Dr. Judith Herrold dedicated 34 years of service at UWSP with teaching, advising, serving faculty governance, mentoring new faculty, and her student advocacy. Her legacy of caring for students continues with this scholarship that supports outstanding Athletic Training students. Colin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness last summer from UWSP and is currently earning his master’s degree in athletic training. Colin works for the School of Health Sciences and Wellness as a graduate assistant. He is conducting research on the effects of COVID-19 on aerobic capacity in the college-aged population, which was recently presented to UWSP’s Board of Regents. KARLY BIHNER College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding First Year of MS-Athletic Training Karly is a first-year graduate student in the MS-Athletic Training program. She is from Oakdale, Minn., and graduated from Hamline University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Karly was an undergraduate student-athlete who played volleyball. Her passion is to help others and she is excited to become an athletic trainer because of the many important roles they play. About the Award This award is given to first-year graduate students in the MS-Athletic Training program that have demonstrated the strongest academic achievement amongst their program peers.

MCKENNA ENGEBOSE

Steven Blocher Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship

About the Award Friends and family of Steven Blocher established this award when Steven passed away in a boating accident the summer before his senior year. Steven excelled at tennis and was a civil engineering student that attended UWSP and then UW-Platteville. We remember Steven today with this award. Mckenna will graduate with her bachelor’s degree in health science this summer and begin her master’s degree with UWSP’s athletic training program. She has worked as a high school volleyball coach and hopes to work for a collegiate or NFL football team. Mckenna has earned academic honors during her undergraduate career and is interested in studying chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in football athletes.

TAYLOR HEURING College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding Second Year of MS-Athletic Training Taylor is a second-year graduate student in the MS-Athletic Training program. She is an Omega Honor Society inductee. Taylor is involved in the Sports Medicine Club and has extensive volunteer experiences, including volunteering at community events such as Empty Bowls, United Way’s Make a Difference Day and Sundays with Seniors. She plans to work in athletic training at the collegiate level or in a clinical setting.

About the Award This award is given to second-year graduate students in the MS- Athletic Training program that have demonstrated the strongest academic achievement amongst their program peers.

SOPHIA REDDAN College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding Senior of Health Science Sophia graduates this spring with a bachelor’s degree in health science pre-athletic training and a minor in Spanish. She begins her UWSP master’s in athletic training this summer. Sophia is a Marshfield Clinical Health System Health Scholar. As a Scholar, she helped conduct research for the Center of Disease Control and Prevention on mask adherence, which was presented at the 2021 UW System Research Symposium.

JOSHUA BROWN College of Professional Studies Dean’s Award Outstanding Junior of Health Science Josh is a health science pre-physical therapy major. He was selected as a Marshfield Clinic Health Scholar and hopes to practice physical therapy in a Northern or Central Wisconsin rural community. About the Award This award is given to Health Science majors who have demonstrated the strongest academic achievement amongst their program peers.

ELENA BATCHKO St. Michael’s Hospital Scholarship Elena is a member of the Pre-Physical Therapy Student Club and the Veterans Club at UWSP. She became a certified nursing assistant at the age of 16 where she learned about her passion for helping others. Elena plans to attend a doctor of physical therapy program to work as physical therapist.

MADILYN HANSE School of Health Sciences and Wellness Excellence Scholarship Madilyn is a student-athlete for UWSP women’s volleyball team and is a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She competes for her hometown waterski team called the Kwahamots. After earning her undergraduate degree, Madilyn plans to attend a Doctor of Physical Therapy program and hopes to work with collegiate or professional athletes someday. About the Award This scholarship was made possible by generous donations from faculty and staff of the School of Health Sciences and Wellness.

MACKENZIE JOHNSON Robert G. Zach M.D. Memorial Scholarship Mackenzie is a health science pre-physical therapy major. She hopes to specializes as a physical therapist in pediatrics. She is a student athlete for UWSP’s women’s track & field team and a Marshfield Clinic Health Scholar. Mackenzie was awarded Track & Field All-Academic Honors and made the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She volunteers a Camp AweSum, assisting campers on the autism spectrum. About the Award Dr. Robert Zach’s five sons created this scholarship in memory of their father. Three of the brothers were directly connected to UWSP – a professor in Chemistry, a physician with Health Services, and a member of Academic and Career Services. Thank you for honoring Dr. Zach with this award.

COLTON MAROSZEK Health Sciences and Wellness Excellence Scholarship

About the Award This scholarship was made possible by generous donations from Alumni of the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. Colton is a health science pre-physical therapy major. He looks forward to working with athletes and helping them with injury recovery. Colton enjoys being involved in 4H where he has a leadership role with youth members that are raising and exhibiting poultry. He also volunteers for youth basketball and baseball camps.

ABIGAIL MOLSTAD College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding First Year of Health Science Abigail is a health science major who plans to attend graduate school for physical therapy. She is a member of UWSP’s Pre-Physical Therapy Student Club and Habitat for Humanity Club. Abigail is a YMCA gymnastics coach in both La Crosse and Stevens Point.

BREANNA SCHNELL College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding Sophomore of Health Science

Breanna is a health science pre-athletic training major. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA and is recognized as an exceptional student by her instructors.

LYNNEE SCHULTZ Charlie Crandall Scholarship

Lynnee graduated from De Forest High School in 2017, attended UW- River Falls and obtained a bachelor's degree in Exercise, Sport, and Science in 2021. “I knew I wanted to move into the medical field while I was in high school, I just wasn't sure what area of that field I wanted to move into. So, while working with the River Falls athletes my last two years I realized that I wanted to have a job as an athletic trainer. Not only do I get to stay in the medical field, I get to help athletes become the best and healthiest version of themselves throughout their athletic career. The best part of the job is I will always be on my toes, moving towards new experiences and looking forward to each day as I enter the office.”

BRYNN SPRINGSTROH College of Professional Studies Dean’s Award Outstanding Student of Health Science – Health Care Administration Brynn is a health science - health care administration major and business administration minor. She is recognized as a dedicated and caring student by her instructors.

GRACE VAN HANDEL College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding Senior of Health Science Grace is a health science pre-athletic training major. She is a member of UWSP’s Sports Medicine Club and was nominated into UWSP’s Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership & Success. Grace works a tutor for chemistry and human anatomy courses. Her post-graduation goal is to become an athletic trainer for a D1 college football team. EMMA BRAHAN Ida Stanke Memorial Scholarship

About the Award This scholarship was created by Mrs. Iola Doescher in loving memory of her sister Ida. Mrs. Doescher passed away at the age of 92. Both Ida and Iola were witty and caring individuals that wanted to help others. We remember both Iola and Ida today with this award . Emma is a clinical laboratory science major with a minor in chemistry. She plans to pursue a career as a medical technologist at a VA hospital to help give back to service members. Emma has volunteered for many years at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp.

ANGELA CAIRNS College of Professional Studies Dean's Award

Angela is a clinical laboratory science major who also plays alto saxophone for the UWSP’s Pep Band.

MEGAN CROOKS College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding First Year Student of Clinical Laboratory Science Megan is a member of UWSP’s Health Care Organization Club. She is a University Honors Program student and was awarded the UWSP Presidential Scholarship. Megan’s post- graduation goal is to work as a full-time medical laboratory scientist in a hospital setting. LAMMESA ENKE Steven F. Schreiner Health Science and Wellness Memorial Scholarship

About the Award Friends and family of Steven Schreiner established this award when Steven tragically passed away. Steven graduated from UWSP in 2008 and enjoyed working as a Medical Technologist at Marshfield Clinic. We remember Steven as a kind and gentle person that loved to play his guitar. Lammesa earned an associate degree in biological sciences from Montgomery College of Maryland before transferring to UWSP. During the pandemic, he volunteered as a food packer for Feed America in his hometown community near Milwaukee. Lammessa dreams of being a medical laboratory scientist and hopes to earn his Ph.D. one day.

About the Award Dr. David Chitharanjan, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry who passed away this past year, was instrumental in starting the Clinical Laboratory Science program at UWSP. He taught many of our current Clinical Laboratory Science faculty when they were students. Dr. Chitharanjan honors students of exceptional academic ability with this award. Logan is a clinical laboratory science major who plans to work as a medical laboratory scientist in a hospital or clinic setting. He has volunteered for six years as a Big Brother, Big Sister mentor and was awarded "School Based Big of the Year." Logan enjoys running, biking, and spending time outdoors. About the Award Family of Tammy Feltz established this award when Tammy passed away in a car accident. Tammy was a wonderful person and an excellent Clinical Laboratory Science student. HANNAH OSTERTAG Marshfield Clinic Health System Graduate Scholarship Hannah is a full-time staff sergeant (SSG) in Wisconsin Army National Guard. She is pursuing qualification of Victim Advocate for the U.S. Army's Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Program. She also competed in the Miss America Organization and enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her black lab, Blu. About the Award This award is given to graduate students who are currently involved in community development or programming for the Wisconsin communities that Marshfield Clinic Health System serves. Angela is the Plover Center Director for the Portage County Boys & Girls Club and oversees school-time programming for elementary school-aged children. She volunteers with Prevent Suicide Portage County, a local coalition that works to promote awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. After Angela earns her master's degree, she plans to continue her work in non-profit programming for youth.

Nash Family Communicative Disorders Scholarship Olivia immensely enjoyed her first year with UWSP’s speech-language pathology master’s degree program. She plans to work in a medical setting in the Wausau area post-graduation. Olivia is getting married in September 2023.

Outstanding Graduate Student in Speech-Language Pathology

About the Award Awarded to the student who has excelled in the classroom, clinic and overall service to the school. Throughout Abby's college career, she has been a member of and served in leadership positions for the Pointers Pep Band, Point Catholic Ministry, Miles of Smiles Club, and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Organization (NSSLHA). Upon graduation she plans to work in an acute hospital setting with adults.

HANNAH FORMELLA Hannah is a third-year graduate student in the Doctor of Audiology program. Her interests include hearing conservation, teaching and mentoring students, public health, and advocacy. She serves as the student delegate for the National Hearing Conservation Association and the Wisconsin State Ambassador for the National Student Academy of Audiology. Hannah has a passion for theatre and serves as a director and stage manager for The Playhouse Theatre Group of Central Wisconsin, a local children’s theatre. About the Award Awarded to an audiology graduate student who demonstrates exceptional skills in patient interaction and professionalism. About the Award Awarded to an undergraduate who has been accepted into the upper division classes of the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders with the intent to work with children. It is the hope of the Gorectke family that this scholarship will help another student reach their dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist. ATHARA IBRAHIM Tufts Graduate Student Scholarship Athara is a third-year audiology graduate student interested in working in a hospital setting. She enjoys watching documentaries and reading books. ZACHARY KOZLOWSKI Florence Donermeyer Scholarship Zach has been involved in the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association, Miles of Smiles, College Democrats and the University String Orchestra. He is very excited to continue his education in the MS program at UWSP next fall. Zach has many areas of interest within both school and medical settings and hopes to stay in Central Wisconsin for the beginning of his career. SHANNON KRUZICKI Johnson Family Speech-Language Pathology Scholarship Shannon has enjoyed her six years at UWSP. She will begin a full-time position with the D.C. Everest School District as an early childhood speech-language pathologist after graduation. St. Michael’s Hospital Scholarship Megan spent most of her undergraduate and graduate years at UWSP. She is completing her externship in Colorado and plans to work with children and adults using AAC devices.

About the Award Awarded to support a graduate student in Communication Sciences & Disorders who intends to work in a medical setting and demonstrates the characteristics of leadership and scholarship.

JULIA LYNCH

Tufts Graduate Student Scholarship Julia enjoys working with both adult and pediatric populations, especially those with voice disorders and individuals who have experienced strokes and brain injuries. After graduating she plans to work in a hospital or outpatient rehabilitation clinic and looks forward to serving and advocating for others.

JACKSON ROSE College of Professional Studies Dean’s Outstanding Senior in CSD

Jackson is involved on campus by serving as the president of the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association as well as the Caucus Chair for the College of Professional Studies in SGA. He will be pursuing a doctorate of audiology following graduation.

CHLOIE SPITZER Helen Franke Scheidt Outstanding Junior Award

About the Award Awarded to the student who exemplifies the following qualities: Graduate Potential – Clinical Expertise - Service – Scholarship – Personality - Leadership Chloie is majoring in communication sciences and disorders and minoring in psychology. She is the vice president of NSSHLA and the public relations officer for Miles of Smiles. Chloie enjoys participating in outdoor volleyball and co-ed basketball intramurals. After graduation, she hopes to attend UW-Stevens Point Speech-Language Pathology master’s degree program to reach her goal of working with children in a school system.

TANEAL STRASSBURGER Donald Aylesworth-Pauline Isaacson Non-Traditional Student Award About the Award Awarded to the non-traditional student who demonstrates maturity, a positive attitude, and commitment to the field of Communication Sciences & Disorders. Taneal is a proud mother to three beautiful daughters, a loving wife and devoted member of her church. After graduation, she plans to work as an SLP in a school setting, which will allow her to spend time with her family.

MORGAN WITT John Joanis Outstanding Senior Award

Morgan is involved in the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association, Miles of Smiles, Sign Language Club and National Alliance on Mental Illness. BLAKE VOSS Al and Joan Noel Scholarship

About the Award Awarded to a deserving student enrolled in the Communication Sciences & Disorders program who has demonstrated a financial need, who is at the senior or first-year master’s level and possesses the kind of attitude and overall potential to do well in this field. Avada Audiology and Hearing Care Scholarship About the Award This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to a first-year audiology graduate student at UWSP who demonstrates above average academic achievement, superior leadership skills, and declares an intention to dispense hearing instruments as part of the rehabilitative process. A certificate and monetary gift is awarded. In high school, Blake knew he wanted to improve the lives of youth. It took some time but now he knows the field of audiology is where he wants to make an impact. Following graduation, he aims to impact the lives of youth as an educational or pediatric audiologist. About the Award Awarded to a UWSP Alumnus who is an outstanding Speech- Language or Audiology Practitioner in the field. Outstanding Alumnus Award Marie is the recipient of this award because of her many accomplishments and support of our program. Since she graduated from our master's degree program in 2017, she has worked in healthcare settings and recently opened a home- health private practice. Marie is active in WSHA and regularly volunteers her time with CSD’s graduate students.

DR. COURTNEY SHEEHAN Outstanding Practitioner Award Dr. Sheehan is receiving this award for her dedication to UWSP’s Audiology Doctoral Program. Faculty and staff are grateful for her willingness to volunteer with graduate students and recognizes the contributions she has made to the field of audiology.

SANDRA ANDERSON Rita Youmans Scholarship Sandra plans to become registered a dietitian. She is a food service director and has worked in the food industry for 30 years. Sandra volunteers for Meals on Wheels in Brown County and has helped raise money for the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department’s Kids and Cops Program. Sandra loves to hunt, fish, and spend time on her hobby farm.

About the Award This scholarship is awarded to current freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors at the discretion of Health Sciences and Wellness faculty to outstanding dietetics or family & consumer sciences majors

About the Award This scholarship was established by the friends, family, and colleagues of Grace Hendel in 1996 to honor her at the time of her retirement. College of Professional Studies Dean's Award Outstanding Junior of Dietetics About the Award This award is given to Dietetics majors who have demonstrated the strongest academic achievement amongst their program peers. Grace Hendel Dietetics Scholarship Catie is the co-president of UWSP's Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics student organization and is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She runs for both UWSP’s cross country and track & field teams and hopes to work as a clinical sports dietitian.

BROOKELYN HEISS Jane Wright Abrahamsen Home Economics Scholarship

About the Award This scholarship was created to honor the late Jane Wright Abrahamsen, by her husband Martin. Jane received a degree in home economics in 1928 and a bachelor's degree in home economics education in 1933, both from the Stevens Point Normal School. She then went on to get her master's degree from UW-Madison in 1936. Jane taught in the Montfomery County Schools in Maryland for 21 years, earning an outstanding teacher award from the state of Maryland. Brookelyn is a student employee manager of both the CPS Café and the Dietetics Program Food Lab. She plans to become a registered dietician with a certification in sports nutrition and personal training. Brookelyn is the recipient of the 2022 Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Outstanding Student of the Year Award.

Fay Finch Clifford Scholarship Luke is majoring in dietetics and plans to be a registered dietitian in a hospital setting and to one day earn his master's degree. Luke in the meantime plans to work at a State Lion's Camp for kids with disabilities and is dedicated to helping people lead healthier lives.

About the Award This scholarship is in memory of Fay Finch Clifford and provides a scholarship for students majoring in dietetics or family and consumer sciences education.

NATALIE STEWART Dora Phelps Scholarship

After graduation and her dietetics internship, Natalie plans to attend graduate school. She is a member of UWSP's Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics student organization and has made the College of Professional Studies Dean's List. Natalie volunteers at Central Rivers Farmshed and is the new student employee manager of the Dietetics Program's Food Lab.

About the Award This scholarship is awarded to a current freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, family & consumer sciences, dietetics, or interior architecture students who work as student employees at UWSP, and is awarded based on character, academic achievement, financial need, and concern for others.

About the Award This scholarship was established by Bessie May Allen, Director of the Home Economics Department at UWSP for 39 years. Bessie May Allen shaped the home economics program at UWSP. She was vital in keeping the program alive, bringing it back to campus after the Board of Regents had voted to eliminate it. Bessie May Allen Scholarship Alex plans to attend graduate school for nutrition and dietetics and to attend a professional culinary school. He is a student employee for UWSP's Information Technology and was just recently promoted to Service Desk Lead. Alex is the social media coordinator for the Disc Golf Club.

Judy Lubenow Honorary Scholarship About the Award

Judy spent 36 years in the dietetics field. She had a passion for UWSP students in dietetics as she spent time with them throughout her career. Creating a scholarship for a student has been a lone time dream for Judy and this scholarship was created to help students who share the same passion for dietetics as she had.

ELISHA WILSON

Dr. Agnes A. Jones Scholarship Elisha is the treasurer of UWSP's Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics student organization. She is also a member of Cru where she completed a service-learning trip to Guatemala with. Elisha volunteers for the Central Wisconsin Big Brother Big Sister and hopes to work in a job that allows her to help people live healthier lives.

Dr. A. Agnes Jones Scholarship Allie is a member of UWSP's Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She volunteers at a Marshfield Clinic Hospital Pediatrics and Outpatient Surgery Center. Allie is interested in working for community programming that focuses on healthy adult relationships and abuse prevention.

Fay Finch Clifford Scholarship Lauren is a member of the Stevens Point Assocation of Family and Consumer Sciences student organization and sings for the a Cappella group, Harmony. She plans on participating in Disney College Program next year. After graduation, Lauren hopes to work as a food and nutrition teacher for a school district in Wisconsin.

Established by Dennis and Sharon Peterson of Waupaca, WI, the intent of the award is to give students the opportunity to develop their awareness and understanding of cultural traditions, lifestyles, or viewpoints that differ from their own.

College of Professional Studies Dean’s Award Outstanding Senior of Family and Consumer Sciences Hailey is a family and consumer sciences major with subplan in child life and family studies. She is the president of the Child Life Association of Stevens Point and the Family Outreach Coordinator of Miracle Makers.

About the Award Recipients of this award are selected based upon character, academic merit, service/contributions to the field, and commitment to the profession.

Jane Wright Abrahamsen Home Economics Scholarship Jessica is a lead peer adviser for UWSP's Academic and Career Advising Center and is a master writing center consultant and personal statement/career document intern at Tutoring-Learning Center. She is a member of two student organizations, the Stevens Point Assocation of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the United Council on Family Relations. Jessica plans attend graduate school for student affairs administration.

John and Catherine Lader Scholarship Ryan is very involved in UWSP's Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. He started as a member his freshman year and has progressed to roles of conference coordinator, president-elect, president, and vice-president. Ryan plans to work as a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensed family and consumer sciences educator and eventually earn his master's degree.

About the Award Catherine (Hill) Lader earned two degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in FCS Education. The education she received at UWSP served her well as a classroom teacher, FCCLA adviser, state supervisor of FCS at the WI Department of Public Instruction, and a member of the National FCCLA Consultant Team. Catherine was heavily influenced by two role models at UWSP-Dr. Fern Horn and Dr. Agnes Jones. Both women were pioneers in the field of FCS and were dedicated to preparing their students thoroughly for a career in FCS. John and Catherine Lader continue to support FCS along with FCCLA and believe every secondary school in the state needs to have an FCS Program.

MEGAN RHEAUME-BRAND Sharon Van Dyck Scholarship Program Megan attributes her talents and gifts to the Grace of God. She is a proud, devout Christian wanting to spread the joy of Grace in all she does. Her hobbies include sermon discussion groups, Bible studies, and serving the homeless of La Crosse. She enjoys being out in nature and spending time with her cats and family.

About the Award Mrs. Van Dyck received her master's degree from UWSP and had an outstanding, but limited career serving as Home Economics Agent in Calumet County. This scholarship is awarded to graduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in Home Economics Education or in Family Life Education. She was enthusiastic and committed to her Home Economic Education and dedication to her fellow man prior to her death in 1972.

KATIE SAND Realityworks Scholarship

About the Award Realityworks is a local company in Eau Claire, WI, that creates, manufacturers, and sells educational aides such as ECG simulators, hydroponic systems, and baby simulators. Realityworks started this award to help FCS students achieve their career goals. Professional Studies Dean's List and earned a Pointer Promise Scholarship. Katie plans to work as a family and consumer sciences educator and hopes to start a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter in her school. BRENDA SNORTHEIM Dora Phelps Scholarship Brenda is completing a 4+1 FCS undergraduate/MBA graduate program. She serves on the board of directors for Second Street Redevelopment in Marshfield. Brenda is a community champion who has served for 4H, Meals on Wheels, I-teams, M-Teams, community disaster committees, and the United Way. She helped fundraise for organizations that promote awareness of various public health concerns such as cancer, domestic violence, and homelessness. About the Award This scholarship was established by UW-Stevens Point alumna, Karen McCulloch, to honor the memory of her parents, Donald and Eleanor Ansay. The Ansays firmly believed in the value of education. Their four children and several of their grandchildren attended UW-Stevens Point. Karen, herself, earned a Bachelor's of Science in Home Economics Education from UWSP in 1975 and a Master's of Science in 1978. Donald & Eleanor Ansay Memorial Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship Maddi is a member of all three Stevens Point, Wisconsin and American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She plans to be a teacher in Southeastern WI after graduation. Maddie has made the College of Professional Studies Dean’s List throughout each semester at UWSP and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma.

KIMBERLY TURNER Peterson Family College of Professional Studies Scholarship Katie is a member of UWSP’s Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and served as vice president

for UW-Fond du Lac’s Student Activities Committee. Katie has a passion of helping others and can be found scrapbooking during her free time.

About the Award The Peterson Family CPS Scholarship Fund provides support for a student in the College of Professional Studies participating in a study or service abroad program or a cultural service program in the United States. About the Award This scholarship is awarded based on academic ability, professional involvement, plans for home economics teaching or as work as an extension home economist, particularly in the Youth Program, competence as a classroom teacher or extension home economist, and when appropriate, service as a cooperating teacher for UWSP home economics education majors.

About the Award This scholarship was established through gifts from the former School of Health Promotion & Human Development faculty and alumni: and is awarded to exceptional current sophomore, junior or senior Joy is a member of UWSP’s Cru student organization and works as a Residential Living Resident Assistant. After graduation she plans on exploring entrepreneurial work, corporate wellness management and program development. Joy started her own small business last winter selling natural eco-friendly skincare products.

GAGE LARSON

Security Health Plan Coaching Scholarship

Gage is a health promotion and wellness major who completed the Security Plan Health Coaching Internship where he served as a health coach to Security Health Plan’s clients.

About the Award Security Health Plan has established a scholarship fund to award health-related majors at UWSP who successfully complete the Security Health Plan Coaching Internship. This program was established in 2019 and is offered in partnership between UWSP and Marshfield Clinic Health System. Award recipients must be in good academic standing, have an interest in health coaching for a career, and meet or exceed all expectations within the program.

EMILY LINSMEYER Jack Lane Memorial Scholarship

Emily serves as an officer for the National Wellness Institute-Student Chapter and is a member of the Pre-Physical Therapy Club. She plans to attend DPT school at UWSP after graduation to become a physical therapist. Emily enjoys the outdoors, being active, and spending time with family and friends.

About the Award The scholarship is intended to assist a worthy, current sophomore, junior or senior health promotion and wellness major.

MADY LOREY

Booth Hardin Scholarship Mady is participating in a short-term study abroad trip to Europe this summer where she’ll be learning the origins of psychology. She is a UWSP Honors Student and volunteers for the Stevens Point Area YMCA’s Frostbite Run/Walk. Mady hopes to work in the health industry or community health.

About the Award This scholarship was created by Melissa Booth and Robert Hardin of Madison, WI., and is awarded to health promotion and wellness students who are studying abroad.

ERYN MURPHY Sherri Hall Outstanding Senior in Health Promotion Award

About the Award This scholarship was created to recognize excellence in academic achievement and involvement in an outstanding senior majoring in Health Promotion. Eryn is a teaching assistant for Healthy American (HPW 102). She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the National Honor Society, and the National Wellness Institute- Student Chapter. Eryn’s career goals are to create wellness programs for post- surgery patients and to advocate healthy lifestyles.

This award is intended to recognize excellence in academic achievement and involvement for current seniors. Selection criteria include academic achievement, involvement in extra-curricular activities above and beyond expectations of the major, and leadership potential.

MACKENZIE RAAB

About the Award Oliver (Bud) Steiner was a 1965 graduate of UWSP who was one of the original three student managers of the then new University Center in the early sixties. After graduation he continued his employment with the Centers and was the longtime Assistant Director of the three University Centers, mainly responsible for daily operations and facilities. Around 1980, he became one of the Assistants to the Assistant Chancellor of Student Life, responsible for all the business functions of the campus auxiliaries (Centers, Housing, Dining). He served in this capacity until his death in 1986. Bud was killed while riding his bike across Canada. He was trying to ride 5,000 miles and raise $50,000 for scholarships. Institute-Student Chapter and a member of the Phi Eta Sigma student organization. Mackenzie enjoys coaching softball and volleyball and plans on working in the corporate wellness industry after graduation. Bud Steiner Memorial Scholarship Mackenzie worked as a personal development mentor for the Northwest Guidance and Counseling Clinic, where she helped youth improve their mental health and independence. She is an officer for UWSP’s National Wellness College of Professional Studies Dean’s Outstanding Junior in Health Promotion and Wellness Award
