Welcome to
I want to wish you and your family a very warm welcome to the MRA campus! As we return to school after a spring and summer unlike any before, we look forward to another year of great success in each area of school. Our students are provided incredible opportunities academically, athletically and spiritually each year, and our coaching staff, administrators, and faculty are the strongest with whom I’ve had the privilege to work. Over the years MRA has been synonymous with excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. When walking through the campus, around the athletic field, and in the academic buildings, the special character of our Patriot Values is truly evident, with Respect, Responsibility, Honor, Compassion, and Excellence as the symbols of our program. The numerous banners, trophies, and plaques are testament to MRA athletes past and present. These athletes have contributed their time, dedication, and talent to many individual, conference, state, and overall championships. They have become a part of history and tradition that echo throughout our school.
Lisa & Termie Land
The school’s academic legacy continues to be exhibited by the many awards and scholarships that our graduates win, and this past year was no different. Our 79 seniors received over $9.3 million in scholarship offers with one in five of our seniors scoring 30 or better on the ACT. This graduating class had many outstanding achievements and will leave an indelible mark on our school. Not only were they resilient and impressive through the unique circumstances of their senior year, they also represented the very best of MRA academically, athletically, and spiritually. We look forward to the current senior class continuing the great example set forth by the Class of 2020. When MRA began 51 years ago, the family atmosphere and individualized attention were integral parts of the culture of the school. As the school has experienced exponential growth in student numbers, record academic achievements, and championship athletic accomplishments, an emphasis was placed on maintaining those core values that have always been a priority at MRA. With enrollment of 1304 students, MRA continues to build on its proud history while strategically planning for the limitless possibilities of its future. Again, welcome to our campus. We are extremely proud of the enhancements we have made over the spring and summer including the recent opening of our new football stadium, visual art hallway, performing art studio, extra first grade classroom, enhanced visitor football/basketball concession stand, and updated high school faculty lounge. We also updated our gymnasium floor and named it in honor of athletic director, Richard Duease, record- holding coach with the most wins in boys’ basketball in Mississippi history! Please enjoy your time on campus and know that we will continue to work hard to make a difference educationally and spiritually in the minds and hearts of our young people. Sincerely, Termie Land Head of School

The Toler Family
Dear MRA Patrons, It is my honor to serve as this year’s booster club president. The MRA athletic program has an incredible amount of momentum right now and I am so privileged to be a part of it. Our coaches and athletic facilities are second to none and this is such a special time to be at MRA. The mission of MRA’s Booster Club is to support all of our athletic programs with our time, our energy, and our finances. The booster club is the sole source of funding for every one of our athletic teams. The new press box and bleachers, the new basketball court, and all the transportation to and from games are just a few examples of what the Booster Club provides for our young men and women at MRA. Lou Holtz once said “In this world you’re either growing or you’re dying so get in motion and grow”. MRA athletics exemplifies this attitude of growth. When you walk onto our campus you can see this immediately and we are all very proud of our facilities. I want to encourage you to get involved. Joining the booster club and purchasing season passes helps us continue to grow and compete. We want to be the best in every sport and your contribution is key to that success. Our children’s athletic experience here at MRA will help prepare them for the many challenges of life and will also provide some of their greatest memories. I look forward to a very successful 2020-2021 sports year for our school. If we’ve learned anything from this past year, it is to appreciate everything we have. I am so thankful to be a part of MRA and all the wonderful people at our school. Thank you for your support and GO MRA!!! Stanton Toler

The Patriot athletic seasons will begin with a 7:00 p.m. kick-off against Trinity Christian from Texas on August 21, but they won’t end with the last point kicked or the last tackle made. At MRA, we are proud of a total athletic and support group program that offers an opportunity for students to be involved in the spirit of competition throughout the entire school year. We also take pride in our past history as we embark on new seasons in all sports. The commitment of your athletic department is one of total contribution and support of all programs with one common goal – the development of
The Duease Family
young people’s lives through sports. As your athletic director, I serve the complete program. We will strive to provide a quality atmosphere that will foster good sportsmanship and demonstrate the team concept in all sports. Whether on the field or off, we will promote the character that builds young men and women. It is our responsibility to provide the resources that will enable each student to cope with the future, through learning experience in the classroom and extra-curricular activities. This is a task we do not take lightly, and with the assistance of many patrons and a dedicated staff, we will successfully accomplish our mission. As a sign of our commitment, we have made improvements to our program to offer the very best for our student athletes. In the past, we have upgraded our football seating area, added a junior high football field house, and renovated the football stadium press box. A new concession stand was added along with a weight room for our female athletes. We have added new members to our coaching staff, and the excitement builds as we continue the tradition that displays the famous Patriot Spirit. In the 2000-2001 school year, we added onto our gym. We now have another 500 seats, as well as two new dressing rooms and an enlarged female fitness center. In the spring of 2003, we added baseball field lights to our already beautiful stadium, and our loyal parents later renovated the football dressing facility. In 2004, we upgraded the multi-purpose gym with air conditioning, new lights, and new floors. We upgraded our rubber track and corrected the drainage on the football field. Then in 2005, we upgraded our track facility. In 2013, we updated the weight room and football dressing room. Then in 2014, we turfed the football field and rebuilt our track. In 2018, we put in a new volleyball floor in the multi-purpose gym. In 2019, a new press box was added. In 2020 we have completed our football stadium. I think that it is the nicest stadium in the league and one of the best in the state. We have upgraded our gym floor and have put new LED lighting on the baseball field. I invite you to be a part of the MRA family during the many sporting activities of the 2020-2021 school year. It promises to be exciting as always, and there is no doubt that the Patriot Spirit will be found at all events. However, as with all families, there cannot be success without unity. I hope you will support your school and those that represent MRA through their participation. Remember, success is not always reflected by the final score, but by how we play the game and learn from our experiences. Play the game with us, and we will all enjoy a school year to remember, and in the end... we will be winners. A special note of thanks to the many friends who purchased advertisements in our Spirit Book. Without their financial support, we could not fully fund the many activities that we have planned for our student body. We hope that you take the opportunity to patronize the advertisers and convey your thanks. In order to be successful, we need to focus on the team concept. There is no doubt our players will center their attention on being a part of the team, but no team is complete without support. We look to our dedicated patrons to complete the team, and we welcome your comments and suggestions. Together we will grow to be strong supporters of MRA athletics. After all, we are family. We pride ourselves in giving our MRA students the very best. Take pride in your school and join the team

SEASON OUTLOOK The 2020 season brings much excitement as we have gotten our program to a championship level the last 6 years, and of course winning the 6A State Championship last year. I believe this team will represent our school and community very well as leaders on and off the field. Leadership, servanthood, discipline, and teamwork have been the focus of our mental training in the offseason by establishing strong core values in our program. This has helped us understand the process we needed to work hard with our weight training, speed and conditioning, and football fundamentals in the off season. We’re ready to embrace and add to the proud football tradition we have here at MRA, and hope you will help us by filling the stands each and every week this season. Our goal is to have the very best football program in the state, and we need your support as we continue to build off the momentum of tremendous home atmosphere we have here at MRA. It truly a great feeling when playing at home for our fans, and our home atmosphere is second to none. Continue to come out and help us have the best pride in our program in the state. Thank you for your support. Go Patriots!!
