True Residual Income

The principle of residual income is a very powerful concept! Residual income is dependable income that keeps coming in month after month. It usually originates from a previous activity, but often needs nurturing to keep it coming. The peaceful certainty that someone will have a secure income throughout one’s entire life can provide a feeling of security and assurance. But very few people have had the opportunity to develop any type of residual income that will sustain them in their old age. Medical doctors don’t have it. College professors don’t have it. Attorneys don’t have it. Neither do schoolteachers, firemen, politicians, nurses, business executives, or accountants. Most people who hold 8–5 jobs can’t even imagine continuing to receive an income from their employer should they ever leave their 8–5 job. Residual income is a concept they have never really thought of or even considered. To many, the idea of residual income sounds too good to even be a possibility. True residual income opportunities are hard to find. Some suggest that authors and actors have the best example of residual income because they receive a small royalty every time their book or their movie is sold. But a closer look reveals that that income is really short lived because should

an author be fortunate enough to have his or her book hit the bestsellers list (necessary for it to produce much income at all), it usually lasts for a very short period of time—often for only a few short months. Even the most phenomenal books last on the bestsellers list for only a few years. That’s because once someone buys a book, he or she is not likely to buy the same book again, and soon pretty much everyone who would buy a particular book has already bought one. And as soon as no one is buying the book, the royalties stop coming and thus ends the residual income. The same is true for actors and movie producers. The true financial life of a movie is extremely short. And therefore, the income stream is also extremely short. So where can one find true residual income these days? In truth, real residual income opportunities are very hard to find. Oh, sure, if you own a few million dollars in bonds or dividend-producing stocks, you can have a substantial and reliable residual income stream. And owning some types of businesses provides residual income to the owner or shareholders of that business. But stocks and bonds and businesses that are substantial enough to produce significant residual income cost millions of dollars.

So the extremely wealthy do have residual income opportunities, but for the average guy, opportunity for residual income is extremely hard to find. Some MLM companies claim that they provide residual income, but for a company to provide residual income it must stay in business for more than a few short years. That pretty much disqualifies most MLM companies. We have yet to witness a single MLM company in the last 60 years that has provided any significant residual income whatsoever. So where can you find residual income these days? We completed some extensive analysis on residual income opportunities, and after several months of investigation we came to the conclusion that true residual income for the average person who is not already independently wealthy exists in only two places: insurance companies and Melaleuca—and Melaleuca has a tremendous advantage! Some insurance companies do provide real residual income for their insurance agents. Many insurance agents will receive a commission on the original sale of a policy and additional income each year that the policy holder renews the policy. Of course, the insurance agent needs to continue to service the account. If the agent closes his agency or neglects to service the account on an ongoing basis, the insurance company will transfer the account to another agent. The agreement between the agent and the insurance company spells out those rules very carefully. Some might argue that the fact the insurance agent must continue to service the account would disqualify it as being true residual income, but we would argue that except in the case of interest-bearing accounts, no residual income really exists without some ongoing effort from someone. The insurance agents we talked to were very happy with their contracts and felt that they had the best thing going until we told them about what Melaleuca has to offer. Insurance agents are paid only on the business that their own agency sells or services. They did not believe us when we told them that Melaleuca pays residual income not only on the business that the individual Marketing Executive brings in (his or her personal enrollees), but also on the business their customers refer and their customer’s customer’s customers, etc. One insurance agent was very proud of the fact he had referred eight potential insurance agents to his company, State Farm. They had all become State Farm agents. And they are now all very successful State Farm agents.

Of course, he does not receive a single cent from their agencies. But he hadn’t expected to. He could not even imagine what life would be like if he received a percentage of their sales also. After several months of research, we could not find any business opportunity that provides anything close to what Melaleuca provides in residual income for the average person. Melaleuca’s serious Marketing Executives receive residual income not only from the purchases of their personal customers, but also on the revenue created from a substantial pool of customer referrals. Because their customers purchase Melaleuca products month after month, it creates a residual stream of income which appears to be unmatched anywhere in the world. With just a little consistent effort and nurturing, anyone can keep their Melaleuca business prospering and producing revenue well into their later years of life. Of course this income is completely in proportion to the energy invested, but for the serious business builder, Melaleuca appears to be unmatched. Our commitment is to continue to build Melaleuca in such a manner that it will continue to produce residual income for generations to come. We are constantly searching for new, innovative, health-promoting products. We will continue to be on the forefront of the latest science and proven discoveries relating to good health. Some are earning hundreds of dollars per month, some are earning thousands, some tens of thousands, and a few are earning hundreds of thousands per month. And it’s all residual income! That means it will continue to come in month after month for decades to come. It appears to us that nothing comes close to Melaleuca in providing true residual income. We will continue to protect what we have and constantly strive to make it better for everyone. Thanks for being part of this wonderful journey!

It’s an emotional roller coaster, I know, I’m speaking from experience. One year ago, we had an idea to give people like you real income. Income equivalent to a full time wage. We launched it 1 September 2016 … and for six-months practically nothing happened!

Chances are if you’ve been reading an issue of Melaleuca’s Leadership in Action magazine recently, or perhaps attended a Melaleuca sponsored event, you will have heard these words before. Four simple, yet life-changing words – just ask our newest Executive Director 2 Sharlene Lesa! Earning over $500K in the space of just 9 months, Sharlene was brought to tears as she shared her story with over 500 people at a recent Auckland partnership meeting. “When I was first approached about Melaleuca by my dear friend Tina (Executive Director 2 Tina Hockmuth), I was in a deep, dark place. My previous MLM business

income had practically dried up as soon as I had to take a month off to grieve my dear mother. Three months on, with no residual income to safeguard my lifestyle, and I was in trouble,” said Sharlene. “I was at the point where I was going to need to sell my car in order to keep on top of the day-to-day living expenses – I was hitting rock-bottom.” Fast forward 9 months, and the decision to take a chance on Melaleuca has completely transformed Sharlene’s world. “Life pre-Melaleuca compared to life now is like night and day. Not only am I now completely debt-free and living a lifestyle of choice, I am so happy! I’m doing something that I love – something that I really believe in – and I’m blessed to be able to help others to achieve exactly what I have too,” explained Sharlene. Recently attending Melaleuca’s Standing Senior Leadership Council as an expenses paid member, Sharlene’s first venture into the life of an Executive Director began with a plane ticket to Fiji! “I had always dreamed of going to Fiji, and really doing it right! Let me tell you – staying in five star resorts, waking up to beautiful white sandy beaches and being treated like a queen by Melaleuca management is the right way,” reflects Sharlene. “It was an awesome experience and an absolute dream come true.”

So how did Sharlene go from Senior Director to Executive Director in such a short space of time? By starting with the end in mind, as Sharlene explains, “Tina helped me see what was possible from the very beginning. I knew that I wanted to completely change my life, so we focussed on the most life-changing income – Executive Director - and created a game-plan that would help me get there,” said Sharlene. “It was simple really – find ten people who like me, wanted to change their lives and had enough heart to be able to focus on getting there by helping others.” With this kind of mentality, Sharlene has spent the last 9 months with Executive Director on her mind. Not only that, she has helped share this dream with her team, and had them focus on the same thing! The result – one personal Senior Director 8, a Senior Director 2, a Director 5, a Director 3 and 4 Directors 2. “Seeing my team succeed and on the same path that I was on once upon a time gives me the most joy! Knowing that my example has been able to help so many is just indescribable,” said Sharlene. So is this the end of Sharlene’s Cinderella story? “Not even close!” Laughed Sharlene, “I may be living the life of my dreams right now being debt-free, but I am nowhere near done securing my

retirement.” Learning of the birth of her second grandchild Dorothy while in Fiji, Sharlene’s resolve to become Australia and New Zealand’s first ever National Director only strengthened. “Family is everything to me and so making sure that my family will never have to go through ‘the struggle’ like I have in the past pushes me every day to never give up.” Paying it forward, Sharlene has also donated much of her hard earned cash to a not-for-profit organisation, “This amazing life of financial freedom has allowed me to give back to those less fortunate, and that brings me so much joy,” said Sharlene. “I’m so blessed that I am in a position to help so many – and I am thankful to my Heavenly Father everyday for showing me this wonderful vehicle Melaleuca. You don’t get the same kind of rewards for working hard in a job,” says Asenita. “For example, when Moana came with Mel Frazer, Director of Sales and Natalia De Silver, Events Manager to see me in her new Senior Director car, I went shopping for my car with her the very next day!” Now enjoying the financial benefits that comes with becoming a Senior Director, Asenita’s fondest memory this year is of her trip to Fiji for the Standing Senior Leadership Council. Having visited long ago, she was thrilled to return to Fiji again after so many years. Everything seemed new and she visited places she’d never seen before. It was ‘all work and no play’ for my husband and me. He had always been the main breadwinner, until a blocked artery and heart operation put him out of work about a year ago. three times a week for six hours each time, for over three years. In July 2016, Sonasi received a kidney transplant donated by their 25-year-old son Thomas More Samita. While he still undergoes regular dialysis, Sonasi’s health has seen a tremendous improvement, due in no small part to their family’s new wellness-centred lifestyle and freedom from financial stress. “He’s a new person now - full of vitality and passion for life!” says Moana. Just days after learning of their Senior Director advancement in August 2017, Moana and Sonasi got a taste of what being part of the Senior Director family really meant, as they were whisked away to Fiji for the Standing Senior Leadership Council. “I still can’t get over the fact that I went jetskiing and parasailing with Mel Frazer and the whole team in Fiji last month! I’ve long wanted to do those things but prioritised them as “maybe one day”... Then along came this Melaleuca expenses-paid trip to Fiji, and the opportunity to realise my dream. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again! I’d been to Fiji a few times before, but those trips were nothing like this one! While parasailing, I had breathtaking views of the neighbouring islands. Melaleuca pampered us. The meals, the accommodation, the hospitality, meeting other Marketing Executives and Melaleuca staff, every experience on this trip was just amazing, simply unforgettable!”

Director 2 Sharlene Lesa’s Delivering Wellness Overview that her entire world was about to change. Certainly, after the first ten minutes of listening, a small seed of hope began to take root inside of her. As she sat quietly – which if you know Moana is uncharacteristically different for her—her mind continued to contemplate Sharlene’s story and what it would mean for her own to follow in her footsteps. Later that night, unable to sleep, Moana took to showing up on Sharlene’s doorstep (a very surprised Sharlene greeting her in her nightgown!). Unwilling to hold in her decision even a minute longer, Moana told Sharlene; “Sorry if I got you out of bed, Sharlene. I want to enrol with Melaleuca, and I don’t want to wait until tomorrow!” Making the decision to give something different a go was easy for Moana; already struggling as a full-time carer for her sick husband, the Samita’s were snowed under in debt and bills with no reprieve in sight. Add to this, the devastating news that Moana had received regarding the death of her 48 year-old sister just days previously, and the decision to live healthier, better lives was absolute! This decision has since shaped an entirely new future for their family. “To say we’re now enjoying a new lease of life would be an understatement”, says Moana, whose beloved husband, Sonasi had been ill for 10 years and on dialysis treatments

I had no clue when I started what was ahead of me. I made the decision to advance to Senior Director in four months, and I can’t believe I’ve actually done it! I did work very, very hard and have enjoyed every moment of the journey so far. I’m giving myself another 4 months to reach Executive Director. I know it’s going to be a lot of hard work, but I’m ready for it!”

I have not done many one-on-ones actually. I’m always presenting to a fairly large group.” Besides working in her business, Esther works on her business by taking advantage of the tools in her back office – particularly the M.O.R.E. report. “I am target-focused, and rely on the information in my M.O.R.E. to give me an indication of where my business is at, and what I need to do to get it to where I want it to be.” Fast on her way to advancing to Executive Director this year, Esther says she’s not approached her cold market yet. “Everyone in my business currently is a family member, friend or friend of a friend. There are so many more people to reach out to. There is no limit to what we can do.” While $200,992.92 in cumulative earnings this year with Melaleuca has been incredible, Esther remembers a time in her life when she was working at the Air New Zealand check-in counter at the airport and dreaming about being on the other side of the counter checking in her own luggage and leaving for a holiday. When her marriage ended and she had to raise her now 29-year- old son alone, she could have chosen to go down the path of depression and living on benefits. Instead, she strove for personal excellence. “Giving up is not in my vocabulary. I’ve been brought up with values and beliefs that have kept me on the right track when the going got tough,” says Esther. “When you’ve experienced hardship and hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up.” Esther remains focused on helping her Melaleuca family find their “why” and realise the lives they’ve always dreamed of. “I love seeing people rise above their circumstances. I encourage everyone to do something today that their future selves will thank them for. For those who want mentoring, I simply tell them to say what their mentor says, and do what their mentor does, and they’ll get what their mentor gets. That’s a fact. It really is that simple.”

In 2017 Esther Tevaga has grown her business month on month and in less than a year, in September 2017 she double advanced from Senior Director 6 to Senior Director 8. Not a stranger to advancing more than one status in a month, Esther’s most significant achievement was in May 2017 when she advanced from Director 6 to Senior Director 2. She attributes her attitude towards her Melaleuca business to having grown up with high-achieving parents who raised her to always “do things well, or not do them at all”. Just as she gives 100% of herself to her full-time job as a parliamentarian, she gives 100% of herself to her Melaleuca leaders and their teams every evening after work. “It’s mind over matter. It’s not difficult to do,” she says. “I think it’s important to help people in my community, and I’m fortunate to be able to do that in different ways in my corporate job and Melaleuca business. As I learn, I teach. I want our business builders to avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made, that they’re focused on quality enrolments, that they understand how to explain the Preferred Customer program to their potential customers, that they recognise that Melaleuca may not be for everybody, and that they’re duplicating the right habits and activities. What an incredible place, to have a pizza, share success stories and set goals for the year ahead. On our return we had an exquisite dinner at Bar Rhumba the most exclusive restaurant on the island located in the beautiful Denerau Yacht Club. SSLC is not all about five-star treatment and world-class activities, we also take time out to give our Senior and Executive Directors some good training to help them in the year ahead. This year we focussed on building leadership. Our key-note speaker was Executive Director 2 Tina Hockmuth and she was supported by her personal

This year we rewarded our Senior Directors with a truly luxurious event in Fiji. Our first destination was beautiful Westin Hotel on Denerau Island. With the tropical heat, aromas, and sunset over the ocean, the Westin is the perfect venue wind-down from the trip and your busy life. Over dinner our Senior Directors chatted about all the excitement across Australia and New Zealand right now and started to think about what was in store over the next few days. They were right to anticipate an exciting all-action event. The next morning, we were awake early to set sail aboard a beautiful catamaran bound for the floating pontoon at the world famous Cloud 9 surf break. The

The best part, all this was just for us! This activity created life-long memories as we relaxed and took advantage of the amazing opportunity. Senior Director 8 Carole Sellar took to the skies parasailing and shouted at the top of her voice, “I’m going National Director!” What a wonderful goal made in an unforgettable idyllic location! As our time on Nukubati drew to a close we headed for our final destination, the ultra-

enrolee, the trailblazer, Executive Director 2 Sharlene Lesa. Their presentation was truly insightful! They explained in great detail just how important it is to “Create” leadership by making absolutely certain new leaders get to Director 3 in their first 60 days. That evening we enjoyed local delicacies and entertainment at the Fijian cultural evening – including the world- famous fire walking! After a good rest we awoke the next day and set out upon an adventure that was the highlight of the whole event. We headed back to the ocean and boarded a high powered motor cruiser. After about 50 minutes, crashing through the waves a tiny spec appeared on the horizon. As
