ERRATUM Un certain nombre d’erreurs se sont glissées dans l’article intitulé Le conseil rejette l’augmentation des frais de garderies, publié en page 5 du journal Vision du 28 mars. L’article stipulait, entre autres, que l’augmentation proposée pour les bambins était de 10,75 $ et que l’augmentation pour les enfants d’âge préscolaire était de 9,15 $. En réalité, l’augmentation pro- posée pour les bambins était de 5,60 $. Le taux aurait donc passé de 46,90 $ à 52,50 $. Quant aux enfants d’âge préscolaire, l’augmentation proposée était de 5,35 $. Le taux aurait ainsi passé de 45,15 $ à 50,50 $. Pour la journée-école parascolaire, on proposait de faire passer le taux de 20 $ à 22 $. On proposait également d’augmenter de 28,15 $ à 31 $ le taux pour la pleine journée scolaire. Notons d’autre part que le taux actuel pour la catégorie parascolaire AM ou PM est de 15 $. On proposait de faire passer le taux à 16,50 $. Toutes les augmentations proposées ont été rejetées par le conseil et l’article sera de nouveau à l’ordre du jour le lundi 16 avril. Overall, Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) officials were pleased with the results of the seventh edition of the Job Fair, despite labour scarcity and a difficult market reality. Nearly 750 people around Prescott- Russell visited the seventh edition of the Job Fair, organized by the Employment Services Centre, held over two weekends in Hawkesbury and in Rockland. A total of 68 employers participated in both events. The Job Fair was held in Hawkesbury on Saturday, March 17 and in Rockland on Saturday, March 24.

La Journée mondiale de sensibilisation à l’autisme était vraiment le lundi 2 avril, mais les cérémonies ont pris place le lendemain à cause du congé de Pâques.
La Cité de Clarence-Rockland a hissé le drapeau pour souligner la Journée mondiale de sensibilisation à l’autisme. Une cérémonie s’est déroulée le matin du mardi 3 avril, dans la cour avant de l’hôtel de ville à Rockland. Des jeunes de l’École élémentaire publique Carrefour Jeunesse et de l’École élémentaire catholique Sainte- Trinité étaient présents, ainsi que des gens de la communauté et des représentants de la Cité de Clarence-Rockland et des Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell, entre autres. « Vous êtes vraiment de beaux enfants, en pleine santé et plein d’énergie, mais quel- quefois, il y a des amis qui sont différents, a déclaré le maire de Clarence-Rockland Guy Desjardins. On doit être gentil avec nos amis différents de la même façon que nous le sommes avec nos meilleurs amis. » Alexis Levac-Brennan, un enseignant d’adaptation scolaire à l’École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Trinité, était aussi présent pour parler de son travail avec les enfants atteints de l’autisme. « Il faut comprendre comment soutenir et encadrer ces gens parce que ce sont des personnes brillantes », a-t-il confié. Le drapeau d’Autisme Ontario a été hissé à la fin de la cérémonie, dans la cour de l’hôtel de ville de Clarence-Rockland. Clarence-Rockland participated in Autism Ontario’s Raise the Flag campaign in order to recognize World Autism Awareness Day, which fell on Monday, April 1, but was celebrated on Tuesday, April 2. The City held a ceremony on the front lawn of Town Hall in Rockland at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, during which the Autism flag was raised. COUNTIES SUPPORT RESOLUTION Champlain Township now has the support of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR), in pressing the provincial government to provide funding help for small rural municipa- lities, to cover any extra training costs for their volunteer fire departments. The province is revising its Fire Protection and Prevention Act to include new regulations for mandatory certification and training for firefighters, and commu- nity risk assessments by municipalities. Champlain Township Mayor, Gary Barton, noted that the new regulations could be a financial hardship for rural municipalities. —Gregg Chamberlain
UCPR RESIDENCE TO REMAIN IN HAWKESBURY
The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) have confirmed last week the new Prescott-Russell Residence will remain in Hawkesbury. The residence, which is operated by the UCPR, will be located on Spence Street, beside the fire hall, up the street from its current location at the corner of Spence and Cartier. Hawkesbury Mayor Jeanne Charlebois has been lobbying to keep the residence in her town, arguing it must remain close to the Hawkesbury General Hospital. The UCPR has been looking at building a new Residence to replace the old one, which no longer meets provincial building code standards for long-term care and seniors’ retirement centres. The UCPR plans to build a new residence that will meet provincial code standards and includes more home units. According to UCPR administrator Sté- phane Parisien, construction of the new

The Clarence-Rockland Expo is back again this year and there are very few spots left for exhibitors who wish to participate. The Clarence-Rockland Expo will be in Rockland, at the CIH Arena, on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. The Expo showcases a variety of products, resources and services from different vendors of the region. With 90 spaces available on the first floor and approximately 20 on the second floor, there is only a limited amount left for vendors. Two spots remain available on the first floor and a few smaller ones on the second floor. “About 50 per cent of vendors are new- comers every year, so there’s a bit of a rotation,” said Expo organizer Anne Lizotte. Prescott-Russell Entrepreneurship Centre, Rockland Dental Centre, Princess Kennels LTD, among others, are a few of the exhibi- tors participating in the Expo for the first time this year. The Clarence-Rockland Expo will also be raising money for the Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin project, by partnering with beer tasters associated with Stations 4 Saisons. People will be able to buy tastings of local beers and all profits will go to the Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin. The Expo will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the CIH Arena, and will run until 5 p.m. The same hours apply for Sunday,

These 44 adult lifestyle freehold bungalow townhomes are part of Clarence-Rockland’s development of Morris Village. Developed by Spacebuilders Ottawa LTD., the SOLARA collection will be spread out over three phases – the first phase, which includes 12 bungalows, was launched on Wednesday, March 28. City staff was invited the morning of the launch for tours of the three model homes, while those who have registered online were invited from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday, March 29 were open house days specifically for 67 people who had pre-registered online. “These are all bungalow townhomes; our market is for empty-nesters,” said Bruce

According to Potvin, the second and third phases of the project will commence after some homes have been sold from phase one. A communal park for the residents will also be developed on the street as part of the upcoming phases of the project.

UNDERSTANDING Today’s Dental Radiation Exposure
We have all heard of the alarming radiation study results reported by our national news coverage, and thankfully most of these have been updated with relevant facts, but many reports fail to mention that these cases were years old when all x-ray procedures delive- red much higher radiation exposure. X-rays should never be taken without need, but re- cent research helps put this in perspective: Indeed, a full series of 18 dental X-rays has 27 times less radiation than a lower gas- trointestinal (GI) series and 20 times less radiation than one year of normal bac- kground radiation from the environment. The 4 bitewing X-rays taken during dental check ups have 79 times less radiation than a year of normal background radiation. Fur- ther, as more and more dentists are using special high-speed film, thyroid collars and digital X-rays machines, dental X-rays are becoming even safer.
Declining dental X-rays based on unfoun- ded fears regarding radiation exposure re- moves an important diagnostic tool from a dentist’s repertoire. X-rays are an essential diagnostic tool with dentists relying on them for: • exposing hidden dental decay • revealing dental abscesses, cysts and tumors • showing impacted or extra teeth • determining the condition of fillings, crowns, bridges, and root canals • locating tarter build-up,finding foreign bodies within the gum or bone, and • identifying bone loss from periodontal (gum) disease and whether enough bone for dental implant placements. 4 bitewing X-rays taken during dental check ups have 79 times less radiation than a year of normal background radiation.

Le Défi Coureurs des bois est la plus grande course à obstacles de la région. La troisième édition de cette course se tiendra le 22 septembre prochain dans le Parc naturel Lavigne, à Bourget. L’évènement s’adresse aux personnes de 6 à 99 ans. Il comporte un parcours de six kilomètres ainsi qu’un parcours de trois kilomètres. Les inscriptions à la course du 22 sep- tembre prochain ont déjà commencé. Pour y participer, les intéressés n’ont qu’à se rendre au site Web de l’organisme.
Plus de 10 000 $ sont disponibles pour les organismes communautaires à but non lucratif de la région. LANCEMENT DE L’ALBUM TOGETHER À ROCKLAND

Les amateurs de musique R&B et trip-hop sont conviés au lancement de l’album Noether du groupe The Sophistocrats le dimanche 29 avril à Rockland. Le groupe The Sophistocrats, duquel fait partie Sophie Moreau Parent de Rockland, a lancé son premier album le samedi 24 mars. Outre Mme Moreau Parent (voix et clavier), le groupe est constitué de David Yates (guitare), Nathan Swift (basse) et Aybars Savat (percussions). L’auteure-compositrice-interprète Sophie Moreau Parent a rencontré les trois autres membres du groupe alors qu’elle étudiait en Colombie-Britannique, où elle a passé trois ans à étudier et à enregistrer la musique. Depuis septembre 2017, elle est de retour à Rockland et donne des spectacles solos. L’album est maintenant disponible sur Spotify, iTunes et CD Baby. Un concert de lancement est prévu le dimanche 29 avril, de 14 à 16 h, chez Mme Moreau Parent, à Rockland. The Sophistocrats, a suburban R&B and organic trip-hop band, released their first album titled Together, on Saturday, March 24 and will be holding a launch concert in Rockland on Sunday, April 29.
