L’Hôpital Général de Hawkesbury et district (HGH), a récemment reçu le prix Cana- dian Organization of Distinction Award du Groupe Studer Canada. Ce prix est décerné deux fois par année par le Groupe Studer Canada afin de recon- naître les succès notables d’un établisse- ment de soins de santé. Cette réalisation a été soulignée lors de l’Assemblée générale annuelle (HGH) de l’hôpital qui avait lieu le 28 juin dernier. L’hôpital a été reconnu pour ses améliora- tions dans les cinq piliers suivants : Gestion de la qualité, Accès régional, Prestation des services, Performance financière et Res- sources humaines. Dans un communiqué, l’hôpital a fait remarquer qu’il a réduit les temps d’attente de façon importante, malgré l’augmentation du nombre de visites à l’urgence. De plus, la satisfaction des patients à l’urgence s’est grandement améliorée, passant de 36,6 % en 2015-2016 à 65,97 % en 2016-2017. Notons par ailleurs que le Projet d’amé- lioration de l’urgence a créé un environ- nement où l’hôpital peut mieux répondre aux besoins croissants de la clientèle et aux cas plus complexes. Quant à l’accès régio- nal, l’HGH a amélioré l’offre de services à plusieurs chapitres, dont la santé mentale et la toxicomanie, l’imagerie diagnostique, les services périopérationnels et cliniques ambulatoires. Un nouveau programme de cyberpsychologie est désormais offert au Centre régional de santé mentale et toxi- comanie et l’hôpital prévoit l’arrivée de la médecine nucléaire et de l’imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM).

Septième édition du Festival de la Bine de Plantagenet

années 1950, 1960, 1970 et 1980. Pour la journée du dimanche, le festival accueillera la Chorale de l’Amitié et Manon Séguin, en l’honneur de Monique Séguin. Nouveauté cette année, les festivaliers pourront déguster et découvrir une panoplie de produits régionaux puisque le festival prendra la relève et accueillera la Place aux délices (anciennement Foire gourmande de l’Est ontarien). Également La Ride à Jo le samedi, un tour de moto et auto pour sensibiliser et amasser des fonds pour le don d’organe. Le fameux concours de bines, Les bines dema grand-mère sont les meilleures! est de retour encore cette année ainsi que la compétition d’hommes forts amateurs, la compétition de tir au poignet, les bines à volonté, en plus d’une panoplie d’activités pour les enfants. C’est à noter que toutes les activités du festival, incluant les com- pétitions d’hommes forts, auront lieu sous chapiteau. Le festival accepte aussi les VR. Le Festival de la Bine de Plantagenet a lancé la programmation officielle de son festival qui aura lieu du 15 au 17 septembre pro- chain à l’École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet. En exclusivité, le festival le Championnat canadien d’hommes forts professionnels avec la présence de Jean-François Caron, l’homme le plus fort au Canada et le sixième plus fort aumonde. Les compétitions seront télévisées sur RDS. Spectacles et programmation Le vendredi 15 septembre, en soirée, le festival accueillera l’humoriste Philippe Bond ainsi que de jeunes humoristes locaux qui ont participé au concours provincial LOL Mort de rire. GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca It was not the best weather report situation for Canada Day in EasternOntario but folks in Prescott-Russell still managed to have a fun-filled weekend celebrating both the 150th birthday of the country and also the annual Ottawa River Festival. Off-and-on thundershowers forced orga- River Fest weekend wet but packed with fun nizers of long weekend activities in various communities of Prescott-Russell to scramble to arrange for indoor venues wherever and whenever possible. Community centres, arenas, libraries and schools became wee- kend shelters for many children’s activities and special exhibits which many enjoyed. Along the Ottawa River in Rockland, Wen- dover, Lefaivre, L’Orignal, Hawkesbury, and Chutes-à-Blondeau, volunteers with the annual Ottawa River Festival rearranged locations and setups where possible. For the most part the annual regional celebration of riverside community life flowed along. For folks inHawkesbury there were seve- ral cancellations of some planned events but many of the scheduled Ottawa River Fest venues carried on while in the Village of Lefaivre folks browsed the exhibits at the public library before going across the street under the tent to enjoy live theatre and other entertainments.
Every baby is cute to see, including baby animals, like the baby opossum or Arctic fox that Papanack Zoo’s Cameron Reid cuddles during the zoo’s interpretive display as part of the Canada Day/Ottawa River Fest activities in Lefaivre over the July 1st weekend. —photo Gregg Chamberlain

Organizers of the long-distance running event heaped praise on all runners through the event’s Facebook page for “defeating the Kraken” and encouraged everyone to come back for next year’s Kraken run in Prescott-Russell. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Financial Reporting Manager will be accountable for the following: • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports • Perform variance analysis, KPI review and other analytical tasks • Prepare fixed assets continuity schedule, other various monthly reconciliations and journal entries • Ad hoc analysis, including some related to costing • Participate in special projects with the objective of continuous improvement in operational efficiency and reporting, eliminating non-valued activities. • Identify issues and proactively initiate analyses / solutions • Ensure the proper internal controls are in place and maintained • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements • Work on implementation of a variety of projects as needed KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will have the following education, skills and abilities: • CPA / CMA / CA designation and Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent • Five years of relevant experience • Strong knowledge of Financial Accounting and cycles • Bilingualism is a must. • Participate in the preparation of annual audit / working papers • Carry out periodic reviews of controls, expenditures, and compliance • Participate in and support the budget and forecast preparation
