Prescott-Russell’s new regional public transit service is in operation now as a three-year pilot project of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR). The new offices at 649 Notre-Dame in Embrun were unveiled at a news conference on October 24. This new building currently houses five professional companies. Two of them, who were already in Embrun, moved their offices there, namely the Centre communautaire de l’Estrie (CSCE), represented by the executive director Marc Brisson, and the insurance and investment company The Co-operators, represented by the owner Philippe Ryan. The other three companies have just moved to Embrun, the owners having previously settled in the Ottawa area. These are the Centre auditif Robillard, owned by the Jean-Benoit and Julia Robillard and represented by Chantal Boyle, the Notre-Dame pharmacy, represented by owner Ankit Shah, and the Embrun Smiles Family Dentistry dentist’s office, represented by owner Konrad Binder. Avec la neige, le verglas, la gadoue, le sable, le gravier et le sel, les véhicules se salissent rapidement sur les routes en hiver. Il est donc important de laver votre voiture régu- lièrement, et ce, même en cette froide sai- son. La fréquence des lavages varie en fonction de la météo et de l’épandage des produits déglaçants sur les routes. Un nettoyage est toutefois recommandé environ une fois par mois. Que vous optiez pour le lavage auto- matique ou que vous le fassiez vous-même,

Alternatively, leave a container filled with cat litter open somewhere inside the cab. 3. STUCK WHEELS Try to wedge pieces of cardboard, wood or something else that’ll provide friction beneath the wheels. Traction aids, sand, cat litter and gravel are other options. Gently press on the accelerator until your tires are free. 4. Frozen car door Pour lukewarm water or windshield washer fluid over the door joint (don’t use hot water). Once your car door is open, make sure to

Winter driving: 5 things to check before you go
1. Fuel Fill your gas tank as often as possible to prevent condensation from forming. While it’s not an issue when the temperature is warm, condensa- tion can freeze and create blockages in the fuel lines in the winter. 2. Windshield washer fluid Sloppy weather conditions may force you to use more washer fluid than usual to keep your windshield clear. To ensure you can always see the road ahead, check fluid levels often and keep an extra bottle in your trunk. 3. Snow removal In Canada, not removing snow from your car before getting behind the wheel puts you at risk of incurring a driving infraction. Besides, failing to do so is extremely dangerous. C’était Journée santé le 22 octobre dernier au Centre communautaire d’Embrun. Pour ce faire, une quarantaine de commerces de la région ont exposé une partie de leurs produits santé. Le but de cette initiative était de parler de l’amélioration de la santé, la réduction de produits nocifs. On a également parlé de la réduction du stress, de la pression, du poids en trop, du diabète et bien d’autres sujets. Plus d’une centaine de visiteurs ont sauté sur l’occasion pour en apprendre plus sur les effets positifs des services et des produits santé. Un montant de 4000 $ a été amassé au cours de cette journée et sera remis à la Société canadienne du cancer du sein. Les joueurs de Darrell Campbell se sont montrés supérieurs face aux Vikings de Casselman, le 25 octobre dernier. D’ailleurs, ces derniers ont perdu leur sang froid, récoltant une multitude de punitions en troisième période. Tout d’abord, en première période, c’est Skyba, des Panthères, qui a ouvert la marque. S’en est suivi un seul but des Vikings qui n’ont pu percer le mystère du gardien d’Embrun, Nguyen. Les Panthères ont bombardé le gardien des Vikings, durant cette première période, au cours de laquelle ils ont inscrit cinq buts avant de se retirer aux vestiaires. C’était alors 5-1 pour Embrun. De retour en seconde période, le scé- nario a presque été identique à celui de la première. Les Vikings n’ayant enfilé qu’un seul but, tandis que les Panthères en ont compté trois de plus pour prendre une avance confortable de huit buts contre deux. En troisième, les joueurs étaient indis- ciplinés, récoltant 15 punitions pour les Vikings et huit pour les Panthères. Cela n’aura cependant pas arrêté Casselman puisque l’équipe aura été la seule à s’ins- crire au pointage. Malgré l’excellent travail du gardien des Panthères, Felix Schnell, tout au long de la partie, il n’a rien pu faire et a concédé le but de la victoire à Perth qui est repartie avec une victoire de 3-2. Schnell a obtenu la troisième étoile du match.
Mais les Panthères ont une équipe solide cette année et, pour le propriétaire Maurice Lemieux, Embrun devrait connaitre une bonne saison. Contre les Blue Wings de Perth, le 27 octobre, Embrun n’a pas eu le dernier mot puisqu’il a subi une amère défaite. En pre- mière période, c’est Embrun qui avait pris

François Drouin a réussi, de son côté, à mettre à deux reprises la rondelle dans le filet adverse. En deuxième période, le gardien des Vikings n’aura laissé passer la rondelle derrière lui qu’une seule fois, pendant que Casselman déjouait à quatre reprises le gardien de Richmond. Le pointage était alors de 7 à 1 pour les Vikings. La troisième période n’aura pas été aussi faste pour Casselman tandis que les Royals n’auront réussi à déjouer le gardien Racine qu’une seule fois. Il aura tenu bon jusqu’à la fin de la période en ne concédant aucun autre but. Les Vikings se sont sauvés avec une victoire au compte de 7-2.
Après leur cuisante défaite contre les Panthères d’Embrun, le 25 octobre, les Vikings de Casselman ont connu une victoire convaincante contre les Royals de Richmond, le 27 octobre. Les hommes de Ruest ont carrément pris le dessus contre les Royals en première pé- riode, le gardien des Vikings, Zachari Racine, n’ayant concédé aucun but à l’adversaire. À une minute du début, le Viking Alexandre Charlebois n’a pas eu trop de problème à glisser la rondelle dans le fond du filet adverse.
