The Province of Ontario encourages them to make noise when moving through heavily wooded areas, especially if they are near a stream or waterfall. Singing, whistling or talking will alert bears to human presence. UCPR council approved a recommendation from its public works committee for agreements with Ottawa on culvert replacement and repaving on shared boundary roads. The first agreement is to share the $120,000 cost for design of six culverts on several boundary roads in 2020. Le nouveau magasin sera situé dans le centre commercial de la route du comté 17, dans le local appartenant au Groupe Harden, auparavant occupé par Easyhome. Le magasin Easyhome, un magasin de location avec option d’achat de meubles et d’appareils électroniques, a été relocalisé au mois de mars sur la rue Main. Le magasin Winners devrait ouvrir ses portes à l’automne, mais aucune date précise n’a encore été dévoilée. Celles-ci permettront de mettre en œuvre un projet de déploiement de fibres optiques jusqu’au domicile, pouvant rejoindre un potentiel de 4250 foyers, principalement localisés dans la partie nord du territoire de la MRC. La MRC d’Argenteuil et Fibre Argenteuil ont jusqu’au 31 mars 2021 pour offrir le service Internet haute vitesse à 4250 résidences de la région. C’est l’une des informations qui ressort de
la cérémonie de présentation des membres de Fibre Argenteuil, qui s’est déroulée le 27 juin dernier au siège de la MRC à Lachute. « La MRC est très enthousiaste à l’idée de travailler étroitement avec ces personnes IBVUFNFOUDPNQÊUFOUFT&MMFFTUDPOWBJODVF qu’elles sauront remplir la mission et les objectifs et mener avec brio les opérations sur le réseau de fibres optiques appartenant ÆMB.3$v BEÊDMBSÊ4DPUU1FBSDF QSÊGFU de la Municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) d’Argenteuil. “It’s a good time for everyone,” said Richard Charest, one of the organizers and cofounders of the annual Vankleek Hill Food Bank Jamboree. The Jamboree marked its eighth year as part of the local summer festival scene, and more than a decade now as a regular source of assistance for the Vankleek Hill Food Bank. This year’s Jamboree took place on Saturday, July 6, at the Windsor Tavern in Vankleek Hill, with seven musical acts taking the stage from 2 p.m. to past 11 p.m. /PSN$BNQFBV 5IF-FGUJFT (BSZ$BS - penter, Celtic Flare, 50 Proof, Alleykatts and .BEIPVTFUPPLUPUIFTUBHFUPIFMQSBJTF money for the Vankleek Hill Food Bank. All the money raised from ticket sales and food and beverage will be going to the food bank, as well as donations from sponsors. “This year, we are hoping to give to the Food Bank about $11,500,” said Charest. “For a one-day event, that’s not bad at all.” Last year, the Jamboree raised about $8000 for the Food Bank, in what Charest called “a bad year” due to the last-minute loss of one of their major sponsors, but “a good year for entertainment.” Beginnings Charest recalled the Jamboree’s begin- ning as a mid-December fundraiser event. “There were two things we had in mind then,” he said. “It was always going to be around the Christmas season to help get funds together, and it would be local musicians.” Later discussions with the volunteer board for the food bank resulted in a decision to change the venue date to midsummer. $IBSFTUOPUFEUIBUEVSJOH/PWFNCFSBOE December, there were lots of fundraising activities and food drives to help support the food bank. “But they (food bank staff) also got a lot of demands for items in the summer time,” he said, “and they could use help with that.
