Les agriculteurs et les automobilistes sont appelés à la prudence pendant la saison des récoltes. Comme les véhicules agricoles circulent plus lentement et prennent plus de place, plusieurs régions de Prescott-Russell ont mis en place des initiatives et émis des rappels quant aux meilleures pratiques en matière de sécurité sur la route, tant pour les agriculteurs que pour les conducteurs. La Fédération de l’agriculture de l’Ontario (FAO) a demandé aux agriculteurs de mettre la priorité sur la sécurité sur les routes et de se méfier des conducteurs impatients qui pourraient tenter de les dépasser à des moments inattendus. La FAO a demandé que les agriculteurs restent sur les portions pavées des routes, plutôt que sur les accotements. Les pan- neaux de signalisation pour les véhicules lents doivent être visibles sur tous les véhicules et machines lourdes circulant sur la route, tandis que les feux doivent être allumés 24 heures sur 24 pour assurer une bonne visibilité. «Faire fonctionner votre équipement est une grande responsabilité qui ne doit pas être prise à la légère, a déclaré le directeur de la FAO, Réjean Pommainville, dans un communiqué. En tant que communauté qui se préoccupe du bienêtre de chacun, les agriculteurs doivent être proactifs en

A proposed heritage conservation dis- trict in the centre of Russell will be dis- cussed at a public meeting next week. The planned district would cover the “old village” core of Russell, and would include both residential and commercial areas on both sides of the Castor River. According to a proposal document, the district’s crea- tion would help with “protecting key views, streetscapes and first impressions when entering this part of the village”. “This is the area with the greatest concentration of heritage resources and where substantial future development pres- sure can be anticipated,” the report said. “Through careful management of change, the heritage value can be conserved while incorporating sensitive new development or reusing/repurposing existing properties and buildings.” The report outlined Russell’s village atmosphere, picturesque views of the river and history as an industrial, commercial and residential hub in the region over the last 200 years as reasons for establishing the district. The study started in part due to Russell’s proximity to Ottawa and lack of prior experience of rapid growth from its emerging status as a commuter town to the larger city. Violences envers les femmes : DES STATISTIQUES INACCEPTABLES
En effet, encore aujourd’hui, des mères autochtones sont stérilisées de force et les femmes dans l’industrie du sexe sont ciblées par les agresseurs, entre autres. Qui plus est, selon l’Observatoire canadien du fémicide pour la justice et la responsabilisation, au Québec, 20 femmes ou filles ont été assassinées en 2018, dont 75 % par des proches. Au Canada, 1 femme est tuée par son conjoint tous les 7 jours, environ. À l’échelle mondiale, ONU Femmes estime notamment que 1 femme sur 3 a été victime de violence physique ou sexuelle, généralement de la part de son partenaire. Ces statistiques vous bouleversent? En partageant des messages de sensibilisation, en participant aux activités des 12 jours d’action ou en donnant de votre temps aux organismes qui viennent en aide aux victimes de violence, par exemple, vous pouvez contribuer à faire bouger les choses.
Chaque année, la période du 25 novembre au 6 décembremarque les 12 jours d’action contre les violences faites aux femmes. Cette initiative vise à rappeler aux Canadiens l’importance de s’engager dans la lutte pour l’égalité et l’équité entre les hommes et les femmes et de soutenir les victimes de telles violences. La campagne débute lors de la Journée internationale pour l’élimination de la violence à l’égarddes femmes et se termine avec la Journée nationale de commémoration et d’action contre la violence faiteaux femmes, qui commémore le meurtre de 14 femmes survenu à l’École Polytechnique de Montréal le 6 décembre 1989. LA VIOLENCE FAITE AUX FEMMES, EN BREF ONU Femmes classe les violences envers les femmes en cinq catégories : violence d’un partenaire intime, violence sexuelle, trafic d’êtres humains, mutilations génitales féminines et mariages d’enfants.

Afin de permettre au personnel d’ouvrir la voie pour vous, le règlement sur le stationnement de nuit est en vigueur partout dans les limites de la Municipalité de La Nation à compter du 1 er novembre jusqu’au 1 er avril de chaque année entre 23h et 7h. Tout propriétaire de véhicule qui contrevient à ce règlement est passible d’une amende de 65$ Les véhicules qui nuisent aux opérations de déneigement seront remorqués aux frais du propriétaire.
