Our mission of Enhancing the Lives of Those We Touch® has been a guiding beacon to keep us on course since the very first day we were in business. In the beginning I believed the day would come when we would have a few individuals who would take the opportunity to build their Melaleuca businesses to perhaps an annual income of one or two hundred thousand dollars. I anticipated that most of our members would use their Melaleuca business to supplement their existing income, and that many lives would be rewarded financially because of their efforts. In truth, I was quite short-sighted. I had no idea that in just 31 years we would have several families that would actually exceed a million dollars a year, and that we would be sending cheques to hundreds of thousands of families every month. I knew we were building something good. But I had no idea that it would grow and develop to what it is today. I was right about one thing though: the vast

majority of Melaleuca families have kept their jobs and use their Melaleuca income to supplement their current income. I was wrong about the size of that income however, as it has become obvious that the Melaleuca “supplemental” income often exceeds their income from their full-time employment. Nevertheless, we always encourage people to never quit their full-time job and to add their Melaleuca income to their original income, and if they follow our advice, their lives will be greatly enhanced. The success of our Marketing Executives is very exciting and fulfilling to me. Perhaps even more fulfilling is the fact that besides those who are building a business, more than a million other households use our products—not because they want to build a business, but because they love our products. They don’t receive the financial rewards because they may not necessarily be

anticipation that there are many more discoveries to be made—and that many more lives will be enhanced by those discoveries. As people join our Melaleuca family by the tens of thousands each month, we stand more prepared than ever before to help them reach their goals. These loyal customers are the foundation of our business. We are grateful they have taken the time to investigate our products and learn why their benefits far surpass the supermarkets or pharmacies brands. In the beginning, we were so excited about our phenomenal Melaleuca Oil that we expected our entire product line to revolve around Melaleuca Oil. We had no idea then that we would find dozens of other natural ingredients that would be even more exciting and even more beneficial, but in different ways. We did not anticipate the discovery of Oligo ™ mineral-delivery technology or imagine that our Peak Performance Pack would help improve key health markers. We had not learned of Dr. Larry Wang’s research on adenosine inhibition, or the multiple advantages of psyllium husk, the benefits of glucosamine, or the effect of cinnamon phenols and chromium on blood sugar control. We had no idea we would be teaming up with major universities for ongoing research. We had yet to learn that a household disinfectant could be made from 100% food-grade ingredients. There was no Renew ™ , and Sei Bella ™ was beyond imagination. We just had a phenomenal product called Melaleuca Oil, and we wanted to enhance lives. But from that modest beginning, we have moved forward at a phenomenal pace to one discovery after another. We may just be extremely fortunate, but I am inclined to believe that someone is looking out for us. We have learned a great deal in the last 31 years. It has been a very exciting journey. But our pace is beginning to quicken. We have just finished the most successful year ever and our pace continues to quicken. I look forward to the future with

S harlene has spent lots of from the US about Melaleuca, she was understandably sceptical. In fact, she only really enrolled out of kindness for Tina. In her first few month’s Tina really got behind Sharlene doing some presentations for her and even placing some builders in her business, Tina says, “I knew Sharlene could be great but after what she’d been through, I needed to prove it was real to her.” In the early stages too our very own Director of Sales Melanie Frazer partnered up with Sharlene and showed her how the volume in her business could help her advance to Senior Director and maximise the double pacesetter incentive along the way. Credit to her, Sharlene was super coachable and in February went straight to Director 3 in pacesetter time frame earning an amazing $4,573! The following month she advanced to Director 5 and earned $8,793 and then in April she advanced again but this time to Director 9. Mel had the great privilege of awarding her a cheque of $23,036 which left Sharlene speechless. time, effort and money trying to make MLMs work. Grandma (That’s Peak Performance at work, if ever we saw it!). Family is so important to Sharlene and forms much of her “Why” she explains, “I’m blessed to be able to help all my family. I want to leave them a legacy—not just money—of what is possible when you work hard and do your best. This is the same legacy my Mum left me and I am eternally grateful to her for it.” We’ve spoken to Sharlene about getting to Executive, National or Corporate Director and while she has the glimmer of ambition in her eye, she has too much humility to speak about it out loud. She prefers to thank the people who are important to her: “My team, I’m so humbled when I see them receive their cheques … it’s a the perfect reward for their hard work.” Sharlene is also very grateful for her faith, “The heavenly father has given me all good things in life!” Her incredible success demonstrates the power of helping others and never stopping to believe that success will come. Sharlene provides a great example of what you need to do to be successful at Melaleuca. She is totally committed to action: “I open my home daily for my team and I get them to bring people for in-homes, if not, I’m out meeting people. I’ll help anyone who wants help that’s how you turn people’s dreams into reality.” Sharlene’s journey with Melaleuca so far has been incredible. So we want to thank her for her hard work, caring

Melaleuca's Newest Senior Director 2 ESTHER TEVAGA

There are two brand new Senior Directors in this month’s LIA: Esther Tevega and her enroller Sharlene Lesa. This dynamic duo was formed when Sharlene contacted Esther on New Year’s Eve last year and she became Sharlene’s first enrolee.

In just five months these two incredible leaders have transformed their lives and their community. They’ve helped over 30 customers advance to Director and above which has earned Esther $66,121 – not bad for five month’s work! But someone doesn’t just one day find themselves with the desire and ability to change lives and become one of the fastest Senior Directors in Melaleuca history, Esther has become an incredible leader because of her life experiences. Esther’s parents immigrated to New Zealand for a better life for their family. Esther is the fifth child and the only one born in New Zealand. Like many migrant families, her parents instilled the importance of taking opportunities as they arose, she says, “Mum and Dad raised us with strict values and principles, whatever we were

As a high profile member of the Pacific Island community in Auckland, Esther truly understands how valuable Melaleuca can be for her people, so much so she has made it part of her approach when she says to people: “I know your life and Melaleuca is the perfect vehicle to get you out of a rut.” Then she adds, “This is real, really real. It’s an opportunity for people who’ve never had money before to earn a really great income. It’s the right time, if you get on board and make it work!” And oh boy are people listening, in just over five months Esther’s business now has 28 Directors in it! When sharing advice, Esther has some very simple wisdom. She thinks that many people and other businesses are just trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes to make money. Esther says, “This wont work, you have to be ethical and act with integrity, people can tell when you’re being insincere. When you love what you do and the company you partner with, that will come through in every conversation and every presentation.” Reinforcing this point she says, “What’s not to love. The products are amazing and the money comes when you enhance people’s lives with the products – it’s easy, you just need to do it over and over again.” Sharing the products and the business opportunity have given Esther some amazing rewards – she’s come a long way from her first cheque of just $133.00. Esther attributes most of this success to her team or as she prefers, “My beautiful friends.” Giving gratitude where it’s deserved Esther says of her team, “I couldn’t have done it without them.

doing they would always say ‘Do it with excellence; give it your very best.’” Esther has applied this advice throughout her life. It’s helped her through school and in business. Esther describes herself as, “… a normal everyday person but with real determination.” She excelled in the finance industry building a great business and living a good life, but then disaster struck: “In a short of period time my marriage broke down and I lost my father.” Understandably, this derailed Esther and had a real negative impact on her family and professional life. A single mother, looking after her son, Esther took a position working for NZ Post. This paid the bills but gave her little in the way of financial or emotional rewards: “It was just a job where I longed to be doing something else!” In addition to her determination Esther also has great faith. As she explains, “Through the deep valleys of life, I prayed we real faith that God would point me in the right direction.” Esther feels her prayers were answered on New Year’s Eve last year with the introduction to Melaleuca. She is very close to Sharlene and holds her in high esteem, so when she was introduced to Melaleuca she says, “I knew it would be good and I wasn’t disappointed.” Explaining what really hit home for her when she saw the presentation she continues, “It’s a company like no other: 32 year track record, premium wellness products and thousands and thousands of people earning full time income for part time work. I knew instantly I could make this work!”

Thank you is simply not enough for how I feel about them. They’ve supported me for sure but it’s the trust and belief that they’ve put in me that has made it all possible!” The next step for Esther: “The sky is the limit! I love sharing Melaleuca and what it can do for people so I’m not stopping. A really important goal for me now is to help my son and his family. It’s simply amazing that in such a short period of time, this business has allowed me to start thinking about helping him with a deposit for a home. house of our dreams,” Said Yvette. “While having coffee in our beautiful new house, she told me that she wanted the life that I have! She was sick of never having money and she wanted to help others live happier healthier lives.” The timing was right and with Yvette in her corner, Natasha made the decision to get started. “So many people make the mistake of simply striking people off their list when they get one or two ‘no’s’ but I decided it was time to try again - I knew that she could 100% change her life if she just gave it a go. During our heart-to-heart I made sure that she knew that with my help, she WILL succeed. That extra dose of belief was all she needed!” Together, they made a pact – Director this month, no matter what! Little did they know that they would need to draw on this pact right up until the last minute. “It was literally the last day of the month, and Natasha had six personal enrollees. It would have been so easy to just throw in the towel and say ‘don’t worry, we’ll make it happen next month’. But I’d made a commitment to her, she to me, so there was no way I was going to let her fall short of her goal. So, with a little reminder of the goal she had set, and the reason why she was doing this, together, we rolled up our sleeves, made as many calls as we could, set some last minute appointments, and wah-lah! She hit her goal with literally minutes left to spare.” In true Melaleuca fashion, by helping Natasha, Yvette learned of her advancement to Senior Director 8! When asked what this experience has taught her, Yvette responded, “Helping Natasha open the door to financial freedom has helped me realise two things; don’t ever discredit those who have always said ‘no’ – as long as you believe that this is real, and it can really help people, it is only a matter of time before they see this as a real open door of opportunity.” Congratulations Yvette, we look forward to meeting your next ‘no’ on the other side of that door of opportunity.

A ‘sliding door moment’ describes an opportunity taken or decision made that changes the course of one’s life. Sitting across from newly advancing Senior Director 8 Yvette Brewin, eyeballing her $13,537 cheque, it’s easy to pinpoint exactly where her destiny was altered; April 24, 2014 to be exact! However while Yvette’s door to a truly enhanced life was opened, one individual remained firmly behind another. “Natasha Walladge—my dear friend, attended the same Delivering Wellness Overview as me three years ago. We were both mums of school-age kids, looking for a little bit of extra income and a way to help our families live healthier, better lives.” Explains Yvette. “We both instantly saw the benefits of the products and enrolled on the spot!” However while Yvette—a part-time Carpet Court employee at the time - saw an opportunity to change her life, Natasha—a mum working at her children’s school canteen for extra cash – decided the business just wasn’t for her. “Life is about choices. working parents and setting their kids up for life, I had a major ‘Aha’ moment.” Explains Carole. “My whole life I have always settled for what is comfortable. Senior Director and the lifestyle it provides – while so different to my life as a cleaner – is good, but I still have debt. I still have family that I’d love to set up for life. I still have places I want to see and experience! I realised that I am nowhere near done yet, and I would not settle for a good life – I want a great life! Now and for generations to come. So I made the decision to focus on National Director.” Taking the mission statement of enhancing lives to heart, Carole began her strategy to National Director by focusing on who she could help. “I believe that everyone is capable of talking to others about Melaleuca. Everyone has the capability of enrolling customers and becoming a Senior Director. What they lack is the courage and the belief that it is possible.” Said Carole. “So, I stopped waiting for people to tell me they were ready. I purposely sought them out, took the time figure out how I could help them, and I became that fountain of belief when they had none. Basically, I stopped listening to excuses as to why they couldn’t be successful, and helped them see why they would.” It was with this mind-set and sheer determination to make a difference that Carole double advanced her business to Senior Director 7 and Senior Director 8 in May 2017. Presented with a cheque of $13,404.56, her reaction was priceless. “Who knew refusing to settle would feel so good?!” Carole shouted. With her sights set firmly on Executive Director by the end of July and National Director by the end of 2018, the word ‘settle’ has been removed from her vocabulary for good. “We only get one life. Fresh from her fairy-tale ending of 2016, then Senior Director 6 and newly crowned Marketing Executive of the Year Carole Sellar was content. “For the first time ever, I wasn’t struggling. The bills weren’t piling up every week, and I didn’t feel that gut wrenching anxiety when I went to the Supermarket. Every month, my mortgage payment came out and I didn’t even notice! I can’t tell you how different my life has become.” Explained Carole. Fueled initially by her need to change her life (which she did!), and then her need to help her business partner Hayley Harding do the same (which she also did!), Carole found herself in unfamiliar territory. “When Hayley advanced to Senior Director, I thought wow! It’s all happened now, I’ve achieved everything I set out to do. It was like the pressure was off – I was set!” She explained. Zooming around town in her beloved Ford Kuga (paid for my Melaleuca of course!), and enjoying a six figure income – a far cry from her $40K a year domestic cleaning income – it’s hard to argue with this logic. Helping her people shift their mind-set to an ‘I will’ attitude, she explains that this is where she helps them turn the page to a new chapter of their life. “I don’t just paint the picture, rev them up then stand back on the sidelines to watch their plan unfold.” Hayley clarifies. “I’m not their coach shouting orders – I’m their teammate, their captain. JASMIN BENIONI: Director 4, NZ May 2016 was a tough year for me - my mother passed away, my work contract was about to end, as was my marriage. Corporate Director 3 and North Dakota farmer John Dufner is known for his work ethic, grit, and straight-shooter attitude. next Director is through strategy sessions , any business builder will sit up and listen. So when he says the way to develop your

to even decide that they want to build a business during the initial Overview presentation,” John says. “If you get good at setting strategy session appointments, you’re going to get business builders out of Category 1 enrolments—I see it happen all the time.” 2017 Marketing Executives of the Year and Executive Directors 9 Jordan and Krista Wineinger have learned firsthand from John how well- executed strategy sessions develop leaders, and they have duplicated the practice in their own organisation. “Want to know a secret? Why Krista and JordanWineinger had so much growth this past year and were named Marketing Executives of the Year?” John asks. “They do more strategy sessions than presentations. They check their M.O.R.E. report organisation gets a strategy session. Whether there are 5 or 50 new customers in a month, they are psychotic about making sure each one gets a strategy session.” 3 Develop your strategy session approach If Overviews are how we enrol customers, then Strategy Sessions are how we enrol business partners. “Setting an appointment for a strategy session is just as important as setting religiously to make sure that every new category 2 or 3 enrolment in their

While checking the Category 2 or 3 box isn’t a commitment, it is an indication of interest. “They’re telling you that if it’s safe and if you show them how, they might do something,” John says. And the strategy session is where that happens.. We practice our approaches for setting Overview appointments. Practice your approach to schedule a Strategy Session with as much dedication. Train your team to do the same. Hare are approaches John trains his team to use: Approaching category 2/3 customers “I noticed you selected category 2 or 3. What I like to do with all my category twos and threes is get together over coffee and show you the details. I’m not saying you’re going to build this thing. I’m not even saying you’re interested. My thought is, let’s get together and I can show you that if you were to do A, what B looks like. Because I think it’s really valuable to know what you’ stand to get out of this before you even spend one minute of your time.” Approaching a customer who wants to try the products before having a strategy session “Of course you want to try the products—that’s awesome. I think it’s really valuable for you to know what you’re in for should you decide to refer the products someday. So let’s meet tomorrow for 45 minutes and I can show you the details for whenever you’re ready.”

1 Have the right mindset It’s essential to have the right mindset during your strategy sessions. If you are harbouring any doubts about yourself or your new enrollee, you’re in for an uphill battle. “When you start a strategy session, you have to believe that you’re sitting across from your next Senior Director,” says John. “Believe that if you talk to them, they will engage. That if you meet with them, it’s game on. This kind of posture needs to be there.” 2 If you have the mindset that everyone you hold a strategy session with will become a successful, reliable business partner, you would never skip one. Besides, every new Preferred Member deserves the chance to see what Melaleuca’s business opportunity has to offer. “Everybody gets a shot,” John says. Meeting with Category 2 and 3 enrollments is crucial, but that doesn’t mean you should assume Category 1 customers have zero interest. “Not every new customer has the foresight or the wherewithal Never skip a strategy session

What is it that’s so important about strategy sessions ? When a new customer checks a category 2 or 3 box on the enrolment form, it’s exciting. But don’t put the cart before the horse—you don’t have a new business partner just yet. “Checking a category 2 or 3 doesn’t mean anything,” John says. “It might mean you gave a really good presentation and they’re excited, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re committed or even interested in building a business. That’s what the strategy session does—you get in front of somebody and you get a commitment from them.” There’s a reason that holding strategy sessions is one of the Seven Critical Business Building Activities . That’s when the commitment happens and you schedule action as new partners. You can’t build a business without them. You should hold a strategy session with every new customer within the 48 hours. But how can you make your strategy sessions more effective? John shares eight key points he teaches his team to more effectively create new leaders during strategy sessions.

5 Set a goal for 20

“He’ll probably say, ‘I could probably do it in a month.’ ‘And then I say, ‘You know, I think you’re right. And even if it took you twice that long, you’d still be a success.’” And just like that, your new business partner is going to build fast and hard. 6 Build belief with proof After building up the possibilities, it’s time to show the proof that this can be done. Using the example of another business partner, John will literally sketch out a chart showing the monthly enrolments and monthly checks of someone else. He has several of these stories memorised to sketch out in person during Strategy Sessions. And this is where he drives home the two simple responsibilities of a business partner. “Your two jobs are to set appointments and to learn the strategy session approach. That’s it. Can you do that for me?” 7 Use your business report— but not your cheques While John uses his own business report for certain figures, he doesn’t like to show his monthly cheques. “I use a teammember’s story and show those cheques,”

he says. That way John can select a story with a time line and income that is relatable to the new enrollee. It also demonstrates a pattern of success. With his own business report, John keeps it simple. He shows how many customers he has and how many business partners he has. “I’ll show them that in ten years, I’ve enrolled 102 customers. I have partnered up with 16 of them and I’m looking for number 17,” he says. “I let them know if they are number 17, I am all in.” John shares his lifetime earnings and his residual income. He points out customers who have been ordering for years without ever earning a cheque. Using his business report this way, he establishes confidence in the products and in the big picture of the process. Finally, John shows how many—or rather how few—customers returned products that month. He compares the returns figure to his residual income. The returns are nominal. It’s proof positive that shoppers love the products. It drives the monthly reorder rate home. And he can explain that returns are handled by corporate Melaleuca. He doesn’t have to deal with refunds or exchangees. That will be a huge relief to those who have dealt with inventory hassles before. All in all, this reinforces the value of the products and the power of the business model.

Approaching category 1 customers “I know you checked category 1, which means you probably have little interest in the business right now. But my thought is, let’s get together because I’m looking for business partners and if I can show you the details—kind of like if someone did A, what B would look like—maybe you can give me a good referral.” 4 Do a private strategy session for each customer Strategy sessions require somewhat personal information and should always be done privately. Choose a time and location where you can have each other’s undivided attention for 45 minutes. For those with young children, recommend arranging for a babysitter. Private strategy sessions also prevent one customer’s “Nobody’s going to open up in front of the room,” John says. “But if it’s just the two of us? He’s going to open up and tell me how tired he is of his wife having to go to a job she hates. He’ll tell me how much money would make a difference. And that’s when you can show them a plan.” apprehensions from influencing another.

He reawakens latent goals and dreams and helps them set goals that will lead them to Senior Director. He explains that the first goal of a business builder is to enrol 20 customers. Statistically, two or three out of twenty enrolments will want to build a business, so this goal sets up your new enrolment to maximise the compensation plan and advance within the Director ranks. Then John explains the rewards further by showing them that if they double that goal, Senior Director is just a little bit further. “Why do I do that?” John asks. “Because the average income when you get to Senior Director is $5,000* a month. That is more than the average household income and it’s a nice, big number.” What John says next develops the mindset of speed and accountability in the new enrollee. “I’ll say, ‘You don’t know me, like me, or trust me, but what if I were your brother and you really did like me and absolutely trusted me? And you knew that if you enrolled 40 customers that in three to six months, you’d be a Senior Director? If you knew that and trusted me, how long do you think it would take to enrol 40 customers?’
