Il a de même laissé la présidence de la SDCPR. «Pour moi, c’est une façon de redonner à la communauté.» En appuyant les PME, l’Académie compte participer à la création de bons emplois et par le fait même, à la rétention des jeunes dans les Comtés unis de Prescott et Rus- sell. Les entrepreneurs qui bénéficieront de l’initiative devront s’engager à ce que leur entreprise demeure sur ce territoire. «Si nous voulons que les jeunes de- meurent dans les collectivités rurales, il est essentiel que nous continuions de stimuler la croissance économique en créant des ini- tiatives pour les nouveaux entrepreneurs ou ceux qui sont déjà en affaires», a souli- gné M. Lemieux en félicitant les représen- tants de l’Académie pour le rôle qu’ils ont joué et qu’ils continueront de jouer à cet
effet. Dès le stade de l’idée, l’Académie entre- preneuriale de Prescott-Russell a mobilisé un noyau de passionnés, des gens d’affaires et des gens évoluant au sein d’agences publiques dans les secteurs de l’éducation et du développement économique, dont la SDCPR et le Bureau de développement éco- nomique et touristique des Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell, pour n’en nommer que quelques-uns. L’Académie a déjà commencé à parrainer de jeunes entrepreneurs depuis le prin- temps dernier, et à ce jour, sept projets sont en marche. La création d’un fonds par l’Académie, pour aider au démarrage d’entreprises, est aussi en bonne voie. Le FRIC, Fonds régional d’investissement communautaire, devrait atteindre 5 millions de dollars, somme qui pourrait être doublée par le fédéral. «On a tous le même but, faire grandir notre communauté», a conclu le président du conseil d’administration de l’Académie entrepreneuriale de Prescott-Russell, Denis Charlebois.

ALFRED | L’optimisme loge à bonne adresse avec l’Académie entrepreneuriale de Prescott-Russell. L’organisme entend amener la prospérité dans la région et mercredi, le député fédéral Pierre Lemieux annonçait près de 28 000$ en subvention pour aider l’Académie à embaucher ses deux premiers employés, soit le directeur général André Martel et la coordonatrice de projets, Judith Barbarie. «Je me réjouis de savoir que les fonds annoncés aujourd’hui contribueront à créer de nouvelles entreprises et aideront à doter de dynamiques entrepreneurs, d’outils et de formation», a précisé M. Lemieux lors d’un point de presse au Collège d’Alfred, où se trouvent les locaux de l’Académie. Ces fonds proviennent du Programme de développement de l’Est de l’Ontario (Fed- Dev) et ont été attribués par l’entremise de la Société de développement communau- taire de Prescott-Russell (SDCPR). «L’Académie entrepreneuriale de Pres- cott-Russell devient, aujourd’hui, l’institu- tion de choix des entreprises et des entre- preneurs de Prescott-Russell et de l’est de l’Ontario, pour l’encadrement et la forma- tion, le transfert de connaissances et le partage d’expériences», a pour sa part fait valoir John Candie, directeur général de la SDCPR.

Impaired Drivers in Ditch On December 13, Hawkesbury OPP offi- cers responded to a call about a vehicle in a ditch on County Road 9 in Alfred-Plantage- net. Officers found a car that was running with no one in sight. Under investigation it was found the driver, 31-year-old Patrick St. Denis was a friend of the owner of the vehicle. Le Réseau agroalimentaire de l’Est ontarien (RAEO) a obtenu une sub- vention de 55 000$ du ministère de l’Agriculture, de l’Alimentation et des Affaires rurales de l’Ontario (MAARO). Cette somme servira à mettre en place des comptoirs réfrigérés de produits locaux dans plusieurs établissements d’épicerie sur le territoire de Prescott et Russell. Dès février 2015, les produits lo- caux seront disponibles dans plusieurs centres d’épicerie de la région. Chacun de ces comptoirs réfrigérés arborera les couleurs de Prescott et Russell et du RAEO afin de promouvoir les produits du terroir aux consommateurs. Uniroc étend ses activités à Hawkesbury
et possède aussi des usines de béton de ciment, de béton bitumineux et d’asphalte. M. Whissell entend construire une de ces usines à Hawkesbury. Il précise qu’il n’est pas question pour lui de déménager ses entreprises du Qué- bec en Ontario, comme l’ont fait croire les rumeurs. Il veut plutôt étendre ses acti- vités du côté ontarien. «On a plus de 200 employés. On est l’un des gros employeurs de la région (les Laurentides). Tout ce que nous avons dans la région reste», a-t-il tenu à rassurer. Le PDGduGroupeUniroc amême informé avoir pris, il y a deux semaines seulement, le contrôle des deux grandes carrières de Lafarge qui se situent sur le chemin Arthur-
Sauvé à Mirabel. «On a acheté tous les inventaires de la compagnie Lafarge, a-t-il annoncé. C’est une acquisition importante et on devient l’unique carrière dans le sec- teur nord ouest de Mirabel.» Avec un chiffre d’affaires de 65 millions $ au Québec, M. Whissell confirme qu’il ne transfèrera pas ses usines en Ontario où il a amorcé depuis deux ans une expansion. «C’est un long processus. Nous ne sommes pas pressés. Les employeurs peuvent désormais soumettre leur demande de financement au programme Emplois d’été Canada 2015, a annoncé Pierre Lemieux, député de Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. Le programmeEmploisd’étéCanada,financé par le gouvernement fédéral, permettra d’offrir des milliers de possibilités d’emplois à des étudiants, partout dans le pays. L’année dernière, environ 160 000$ ont été alloués à de petites entreprises et organisations de la circonscription dans le cadre de ce programme. Un financement sera offert à des organismes sans but lucratif, à des employeurs du secteur public et à de petites entreprises afin qu’ils embauchent des jeunes âgés de 15 à 30 ans qui étudient à temps plein et qui prévoient reprendre des études à l’automne. Quelque 35 000 jeunes Canadiens pourront profiter d’un emploi d’été tout en aidant les employeurs à remédier à la pénurie de main-d’œuvre qualifiée. Accompagnant Pierre Lemieux, Karianne Simard, une étudiante qui a pu bénéficier du financement fédéral afin d’obtenir un emploi l’été dernier via le Centre de services à l’emploi de Prescott- Russell, a parlé de son expérience.
