Les succursales de Clarence Creek et Saint-Pascal-Baylon de la Bibliothèque publique de Clarence-Rockland seront définitivement fermées à la fin de juin. Le conseil d’administration de la Biblio- thèque publique de Clarence-Rockland (BPCR) a pris la décision après avoir examiné l’usage et les coûts rattachés à chaque suc- cursale. Les succursales de Clarence Creek et de Saint-Pascal-Baylon sont toutes deux situées à l’intérieur d’écoles élémentaires – l’École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Félicité et l’École élémentaire catholique du Rosaire, respectivement – et sont ouvertes deux heures par semaine chacune. Le conseil a remarqué que « le nombre d’usagers est très limité » à chaque succursale. Par exemple, la succursale de Saint-Pascal a accueilli un total de 10 visiteurs en 2017. The Clarence Creek and Saint-Pascal-Baylon branches of the Clarence-Rockland Public Library will be permanently closing at the end of June. The Clarence- Rockland Public Library (CRPL) Board came to the decision after reviewing branch and usage costs. The Board has identified “very low patronage” for both branches. In order to improve its services and to reach more residents, the CRPL Board has decided to begin Library Bookmobile visits, in early 2019, in lieu of the two closing branches. In the meantime, temporary book boxes and shelves will be set up in the villages for residents to continue borrowing books. —archives

La Cité de Clarence-Rockland a officiel- lement commencé la construction de deux nouvelles casernes et stations d’ambulances à Rockland et à Bourget. Les cérémonies de pelletées de terre ont eu lieu le mardi 29 mai et le jeudi 31 mai, à Rockland et à Bourget respectivement. Grâce à un partenariat avec les Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell, les deux casernes comprendront de l’espace locatif pour les stations d’ambulances des CUPR, amélio- rant la livraison de services. « C’est avec grand plaisir que les CUPR participent à votre projet, s’est exprimé le président des CUPR François St-Amour. On sait tous que la croissance de Clarence- Rockland et ses environs explosent. Il faut donc faire de notre mieux pour donner les services appropriés. » La caserne de Rockland aura de meilleurs éléments de santé et sécurité tels qu’un système de captage des gaz d’échappe- ment Diesel et des machines spécialement équipées pour laver les tenues de feu des pompiers. Il y aura également de l’espace de for- mation, qui servira de centre d’opérations d’urgence au besoin. The City of Clarence-Rockland has officially begun construction of two new fire stations and ambulance stations in Rockland and Bourget. The groundbreaking ceremonies were held on Tuesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 31 in Rockland and Bourget, respectively. Through a partnership with the United Counties of Prescott-Russell, the two fire stations will also include space for UCPR ambulance stations. This project is a municipal investment of $9.53 million. Le soleil était au rendez-vous le weekend dernier pour le festival d’été de Saint- Pascal-Baylon ! Pour l’occasion, la course annuelle de boîtes à savon s’est déroulée aux coins des chemins Saint-Pascal et Rollin. C’était la cinquième année que les clubs Optimistes de Saint-Pascal-Baylon et de Hammond travaillaient ensemble pour organiser cette activité. Près de 40 jeunes et une dizaine d’adultes ont alors dévalé la piste dans leur bolide sans moteur. Un barbecue était aussi offert sur place. Une vingtaine de bénévoles étaient sur place pour assurer le bon déroulement de cette activité, dont les principaux organisateurs étaient Patrice Lalonde et Robin Barré. Parmi les autres activités offertes dans le cadre du festival d’été, on comptait une visite à la ferme Penny Lane Farm , une soirée cinéma sous les étoiles, une vente de garage communautaire ainsi que plusieurs activités pour les enfants. —photos Caroline Prévost

The Extravadanse Academy in Rockland wants to start a dance therapy class, after adapting their dance class to accommodate a four-year-old in a wheelchair, MacKenzie Lalonde-Stiff. MacKenzie has a rare progressive genetic syndrome, with no cure, which attacks the brain, and in MacKenzie’s case, her mobility, fine motor skills and speech are affected. Since expressing her desire to dance, her parents, Anik Lalonde and Colin Stiff, have worked to find a way to include their little girl as much as possible in activities with young people her age. Extravadanse has found ways to include MacKenzie in their group dance classes and she participated in their annual dance show on Saturday, June 2, at the Optimist Performance Hall. —photo Caroline Prévost

ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH HOLDS FIRST BIG GIVE IN ROCKLAND
LOCAL FOOD BANK RECEIVES $1000 DONATION
The Big Give at St. Andrew’s Christian Church took place Saturday morning, June 2, in Rockland. The Big Give is an initiative started in Ottawa five years ago with the goal of giving back to the community. Over the last couple weeks, people from the community were invited to donate reusable items they no longer have use for. These items were then displayed at the Big Give, where everyone from the community had the chance to stop by and take whatever they liked for free, including books, clothes, furniture, amongst others. There were even hotdogs and Tim Horton’s coffee being served for free. The Big Give initiative is now also trying to spread across the country. HARMONY HYUNDAI is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
This philosophy has paid off. The sales have grown exponentially. In the first half of 2013, the Honda Civic, the best selling car in Canada for many years, was dethroned by the Hyundai Elantra. Service is an important part of the success of Harmony Hyundai. Mr. Bhatt takes the opportunity to thank his sales, service and parts teams for their contribution. “Our goal is to provide exceptional service,” added Mr. Bhatt. He is proud especially of the 98 per cent client satisfaction rating obtained by the dealership. Harmony Hyundai is looking to the future. In order to better serve its clients, an important expansion project of the service and parts department is planned in the near future. Eight service bays will be added, bringing the total to 14. The opening hours of the service and parts department have also been increased to meet the needs of the clients, Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm and Wednesday evenings until 8 pm. Harmony Hyundai completed a major expansion and revamp of the dealership in 2007. The Bhatt family along with the sales, service and parts teams wish to thank the Clarence-Rockland community for their warm welcome and support during the past 20 years and look forward to serve past and future clients with the same exceptional service.
Since its opening in 1998, at 293 Pigeon, at the corner of Highway 17, in Rockland, the car dealership has enjoyed a tremendous growth, matching the success of the Korean car maker. “Before people did not want to touch a Hyundai,” recalls Parth Bhatt, president of Harmony Hyundai. “Now Hyundai is the envy of the other car makers”. Afin de répondre à la demande, la direction a prolongé les heures d’ouverture du département de service et des pièces; le samedi de 9h à 13h et le mercredi soir jusqu’à 20h. La famille Bhatt se joint à toute l’équipe de Harmony Hyundai pour remercier la communauté de Clarence-Rockland pour son accueil et soutien au cours des 20 dernières années.
Depuis son ouverture en 1998 au 293, rue Pigeon, au coin de la route 17, à Rockland, le concessionnaire a connu un succès fulgurant à l’image du fabricant coréen. « Avant, les gens ne voulaient pas toucher à Hyundai, se rappelle le président de Harmony Hyundai, Parth Bhatt. Aujourd’hui, la compagnie fait l’envie des autres constructeurs automobiles. » Hyundai a réussi à changer son imageen très peude temps en suivant une philosophie simple: donner aux gens ce qu’ils demandent. « Des voitures aux lignes profilées, à l’avant-garde de la technologie, très économiques à conduire et la meilleure garantie sur le marché (cinq ans pare-chocs à pare-chocs) », a souligné Parth Bhatt. Cette philosophie a porté fruits. Les ventes du fabricant coréen n’ont cessé de croître. Dans la première moitié de 2013, l’Elantra avait détrôné la Honda Civic, qui était la voiture la plus vendue au Canada depuis plusieurs années consécutives. Le service occupe une grande place dans le succès de Harmony Hyundai. M. Bhatt profite de l’occasion pour remercier ses équipes des ventes, des pièces et service pour leur contribution. « Notre but est d’offrir un service hors pair à la communauté », a soutenu M. Bhatt. Il est très fier, notamment du taux de satisfaction des clients qui atteint 98 pour cent. Harmony Hyundai regarde vers l’avenir.
