For Ancient Romans, March was the rst month and it was celebrated as the beginning of the new year. Inspired by the symbolism of new beginnings and the awakening of spring energy, we are certain that you too are ready to together spread our wings toward new horizons, destinations and victories. Even though the operations of airlines in the region are characterised by a high level of seasonality, i.e. signicantly greater passenger load in the pe- riod from May to September, compared to the rest of the year, Air Serbia had a strong growth in passenger numbers ever since the end of the last summer season, even in other months. During the previous year we have introduced as many as 23 new destinations, and, in addition to the home airport in Bel- grade, started operating ights from two more airports in Serbia. Even though all of the above would be an exceptional accomplishment even for companies much bigger than Air Serbia, we are especially proud that we also increased the average cabin load factor. We look forward to the busy summer season, which is approaching, as well as to the new beginnings ahead of us. It is our great pleasure to share with you that we will be operating ights to Geneva three times a week as of 1 st June, building a perfect connection between Belgrade and the world capital of watches, luxury and peace. The best of all is the fact that this ight, which only takes two hours, will al- low you to enjoy a spectacular view of the highest Alpine peak and the wondrous lake We look forward to the busy summer season, which is approaching, as well as to the new beginnings ahead of us Dragi putnici,

Geneva with its geyser. Starting from 4 th June, we will also enable you to expe- rience the exoticness of the Jordanian capital, Amman, so this exciting biblical city will be less than three hours away and available four times a week. As ear- ly as the next day, we will connect you with two more exciting destinations, which were unjustly ignored on tourist maps – Lviv, “Paris of the East”, which is in western Ukraine, and Rostov on Don, “Gates to the Caucasus” in south- east Russia. We are certain that fans of artistic and culinary pleasures will be the happiest to learn that, as of 6 th June, two times a week, for just an hour and a half, they will be able to enjoy Florence, the pearl of Tuscany and the cradle of the renaissance. Finally, starting on 7 th June, four times a week, we will be connecting you directly to Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, with its hospita- ble residents and the biggest wine cellar in the world. As you have noticed, we are trying to surprise you with nice promotion- al campaigns as often as possible. We will continue to do so in the coming period, in order to bring you closer to the destinations you always dreamed about, friends and family who live far from you, or business partners in oth- er time zones. We believe in the saying that travelling rst leaves you speech- less, and then turns you into a storyteller, so we invite you to write new sto- ries on the pages of your passport.

Uživajte u letu i srećan put! Iskreno vaša, Er Srbija

Enjoy your ight and happy travels! Sincerely yours, Air Serbia

Helsinki Pet toilets at the airport

Anyone who arrives at Helsinki air- port with a pet can now take ad- vantage of two restrooms for ani- mals. One is located within Terminal 2, while the other is outside the ter- minal. Now owners can relax in the knowledge that their pets have a place to handle their physiological needs. According to the statistics of Finavia, which manages Finnish air- ports, 10,000 dogs pass through Hel- sinki Airport annually. Interestingly, numerous animal restrooms already exist at airports in America, while they are still very rare in Europe.

Paris New look for the Olympics

Visitors to Paris in the years ahead will have an opportunity to bathe in the Seine, as well as dining in the atmos- phere of an abandoned underground station, and this represents only part of the announced projects aimed at transforming the city in prepara- tion for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which Paris will host. The plan is to transform all abandoned and dere- lict spaces in the city over the next four years into hotels, museums and places for going out, participating in sport and enjoying free time.

Copenhagen Free fruit coming soon city-wide

Kopenhagen Uskoro besplatno voće širom grada

Both residents and tourists of the Danish capital will soon be able to eat apples, blackberries and plums for free. Specifically, Copenhagen is starting to plant fruit trees in parks and playgrounds, near schools and in other public areas, enabling anyone to pick fruit from trees whenever they want. The aim of this innovative idea is to improve the general health of citizens, as well as being prompted by a desire to teach children to live in harmony with nature, because not all families have a garden. Berlin Museum of the future Sculptures that “come to life” with a touch or sound, ying cars, ro- bots, 3D printers, the kitchen of the future, interaction with machines - all of this can be seen and tried at the Futurium, the Berlin muse- um dedicated to presenting life of the future. The museum has been designed with the aim of invit- ing visitors to engage in the future and play a role in shaping it, rath- er than just watching it unfold in front of their eyes. The museum is open from 10am to 6pm every day except Tuesdays, when it is closed to visitors.

JAN FABR U NARODNOM MUZEJU JAN FABRE AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM PRAZNIK MALIH PRIJATELJA

The National Museum in Bel- grade is hosting an exhibition of multimedia artist Jan Fabre, enti- tled Feast of Little Friends, until 5 th April. Fabre’s 2020 guest appear- ance in Belgrade has been unied through the opening of the ex- hibition at the National Museum in Belgrade, the performance of the mono-drama The Night Writ- er at the National Theatre and the publishing of a Serbian translation of Fabre’s third book, The Night Journal 1992-1993, by the Cultur- al Centre of Belgrade. The Feast of Little Friends ex- hibition at the National Museum, which is curated by Joanna De Vos, deals with topics that fasci- nated Fabre as a young visual art- ist. While studying the world of spiders and insects, he began cre- ating his own mythical universe centred around life and death, beauty and horror, fragility and violence, mortality and eternity - extremes that also hold an im- portant place in Fabre’s theatri- cal art. The Feast of Little Friends is key to understanding not only Fabre’s contemporary visual cre- ativity, but also his theatrical and literary oeuvre. Similarly to an entomologist, Fabre actually records, analyses and comments on human activ- ities and emotions through a se- ries of drawings, installations and sculptures of “fantastic insects”. With his large Spiders Heads Thea- tre with real spiders, he simulates the theatre of life, but doesn’t re- cord what he sees among his“lit- tle friends”, rather he seeks within himself images that emerge, leav- ing the same possibility for the viewer. The imagination remains the main medium. The Feast of Lit- tle Friends becomes a“feast of the senses”, while the metamorpho- sis of insects becomes a symbol of human existence.

U Narodnom muzeju u Beogradu je do 5. aprila otvorena izložba multime- dijalnog umetnika Jana Fabra Praznik malih prijatelja . Fabrovo gostovanje u Beogradu 2020. godine objedinjeno je otvaranjem izložbe u Narodnom muze- ju u Beogradu, izvođenjem monodra- me Noćni pisac u Narodnom pozorištu i objavljivanjem prevoda Fabrove treće knjige Noćni dnevnik 1992–1993. Kul- turnog centra Beograda. Slično entomologu, Fabr zapravo beleži, analizira i komentariše ljudske aktivnosti i emocije kroz seriju crteža, FEAST OF LITTLE FRIENDS

SPOJILA SAM EPSKU POEZIJU I ELEKTRONSKE INSTRUMENTE INTERVJU: ANA KRSTAJIĆ, KOMPOZITORKA INTERVIEW: ANA KRSTAJIĆ, COMPOSER

I COMBINE EPIC POETRY WITH

ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS

E p o Marku Kraljeviću i savremeni pokret. Gusle i balet.

T he Epic of Prince Marko Kraljević and the Con- temporary Movement. Gusle and ballet. Piano and concert halls, music for lm and games. The common denominator is young, successful com- poser Ana Krstajić, a creative ambassador for the Serbia Creates platform. After earning a master’s degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, you returned to Serbia and created “Marko”, a contemporary dance piece based on the epic poetry of the life of Prince Marko Kraljević. Where did the idea for this extraordinary work come from? “I grew up listening to my grandfather, who used to play songs and sing verses of Serbian epic ballads, so this aesthetic is very familiar to me. Fascinated by sound, I want- ed to bring the richness and creativity of our national ep- ics to younger generations, rebranding the art of epic po- etry in a contemporary way, through the sound of a string orchestra and with modern electronic instruments that mimicked the sounds of the gusle. I felt it was only possi- ble to collaborate on a project like this with young artists who are actually from the region and who therefore in- stinctively understand Serbian epic poetry.” As well as composing music for concerts and contem- porary plays, you also create music for lm, TV seri- als, TV commercials and, most interestingly, video games. How dierent are these processes? “Creating music for lm or television is a similar pro- cess in that both are composed in linear time using the image as the main guide. Video games require a dierent composing technique altogether, because game music has no denite duration and it responds to whatever the game-player triggers in the game. Although I have been working on applied music projects for some time, I have to admit that I enjoy it even more than composing music for concerts or contemporary plays. Although it requires specic time commitments and a stepping out of the usu- al comfort zones, these are precisely the conditions where art can ourish.” What are you currently working on and what are your plans for the future? “I’m composing music for a theatre play by Vashe Zheleznov, Maxim Gorky, directed by Zlatko Sviben at the National Theatre in Belgrade, together with my colleague Jana Rančić. With the team from Devotion Studios, I’m work- ing on the nal details of music for Heroic, a Nordeus vid- eo game. As part of the Sonic Tree Studio in Belgrade, I’m composing and orchestrating music for a feature lm and a domestic TV series to be aired on Radio-Television Serbia this year, while I’m planning to move to Los Angeles soon,, to continue my professional development.”

REKORDNA GODINA ZA ER SRBIJU 2019 RECORD YEAR FOR AIR SERBIA „Er Srbija“ je u prethodnoj godini, uz uvođenje novih ruta i uspostavljanje operacija sa još dva aerodroma u Srbiji, zabeležila rast i ostvarila rekordne rezultate u broju prevezenih putnika In addition to the introducing of new routes and the establishing of operations at two more airports in Serbia, 2019 also saw Air Serbia deliver growth and accomplish record results in the number of passengers carried

D uring 2019, the Serbian national airline carried a total of 2.81 million passengers on scheduled and charter ights from Belgrade, representing a milestone result since the launch of operations under the Air Serbia name. The number of passengers carried increased 9.5 per cent compared to 2018. Regular ights increased by nine per cent, while charter ights carried 23 per cent more passengers compared to 2018. Following a successful sum- mer season, the positive results continued in 2019’s o-peak season, when almost 25 per cent more passengers were carried compared to the same period of last year. Air Serbia celebrated another historic mo- ment at the end of October 2019 by welcoming its 15 millionth pas- senger in just its six years of operations. Air Serbia operated a total of 33,322 ights during 2019, 2,370 of which were charter ights under the Aviolet charter brand of the Ser- bian national carrier. Network capacity, measured in terms of Available Seat Kilometres (ASK), rose to 4.45 billion in 2019, while Air Serbia’s average passenger load factor was 72 percentage points and sales of increasingly popu- lar ancillary services grew by 28 per cent. According to Air Serbia CEO Duncan Naysmith, “in 2019 we de- livered the largest network expansion and carried more passengers since we started operations as Air Serbia. By launching new ights from as many as three airports in Serbia, we have conrmed our posi- tion as regional leader in the sphere of commercial aviation and given our contribution to the development of business and tourism in Ser- bia, as well as regional interconnectivity. During the previous year, we have carefully selected new destinations, further improving the inte- gration of our international network and providing our guests with more choice and more benets.” Last year’s growth of Air Serbia’s network capacity was also en- hanced with the launch of as many as ten new ights from the air-

line’s home airport of Belgrade Nikola Tesla – eight scheduled ights throughout the year to Kiev, Madrid, Barcelona, Rijeka, Krasnodar, Hel- sinki, Cairo and Istanbul, as well as seasonal ights to Nice and Zadar. The national airline also launched operations at two more airports in Serbia in 2019. Based on the results of an international tender for ights of public importance that was announced by the Government of Serbia, 12 new ights were introduced from Niš Constantine the Great Airport, as well as a ight to Vienna from the Morava Airport near Kraljevo. Last year’s introduction of new ights expanded the na- tional airline’s network to include 61 destinations, while spring 2020 will see Air Serbia start operating seasonal ights to Greece’s Thessa- loniki from Kraljevo. It was also during 2019 that the International Air Transport Associ- ation (IATA) certied Air Serbia for the standard of level two NDC (New Distribution Capability), placing it among the leading international air- lines that have adapted their distribution systems to the latest forms of communication. Air Serbia thus became one of the rst airlines in Southeast Europe to receive a level 2 NDC certicate, and the rst air- line in the world with the latest 19.2 version of the certicate, which denes the potentials for product distribution. Air Serbia also signed a new codeshare agreement with Finnish air- line Finnair during 2019, thus increasing its total number of codeshare partnerships to 14 and expanding its virtual codeshare network to 94 destinations. The last year also saw the national airline continue the digitalisa- tion and personalisation of its products, in line with its long-term strate- gy and international aviation trends. Air Serbia celebrated two impor- tant anniversaries in 2019 – the sixth anniversary of operations under the Air Serbia name and the 92 nd anniversary of the airline as the suc- cessor of its glorious predecessors, Aeroput and JAT, which makes it the eighth oldest airline in the world that is still operating.

RECORD RESULTS IN JANUARY TOO Air Serbia posted a record number of passengers carried in January, thus continuing the growth trend from the previous year. In the first month of 2020, Air Serbia carried 168,856 passengers from the Belgrade Airport, which is up nearly 36 thousand, i.e. 27 per cent more compared to the same period last year. These are Air Serbia’s best operational results for January since its launch in 2013. Simul- taneously, the load factor on Belgrade flights increased by 7 per- centage points compared to January 2019. In addition to that, the number of destinations from the Serbian capital rose from 34 to 41, while sales of increasingly popular ancillaries increased by 44 per cent, year on year. “Last year was Air Serbia’s most successful to date in terms of the number of passengers carried and new desti- nations, and we are happy for providing firm grounds for further development in 2020”, says Jiri Marek, General Manager for Com- mercial and Strategy at Air Serbia.

S tarting this June, Serbia’s na- tional airline will establish routes from the country’s cap- ital to Geneva, Amman, Ros- tov-on-Don, Florence, Lviv and Chisinau Air Serbia has entered 2020 with six new routes in Europe and the Middle East. With these new ights, the oer of the Serbian national air carrier con- tinues growing this year, following the signicant expansion of 2019. Aircraft sporting the airline’s logo of a stylised two-headed eagle will land at Geneva airport three times a week. Air Serbia will operate four weekly ights on the new route to the Jordanian cap- ital of Amman, while Belgrade and Ros- tov-on-Don, an important city and port in southern Russia, will be connected via four ights a week. The Serbian ag carrier will operate two weekly ights between Belgrade and Florence in cen- tral Italy, while ights to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv will operate four times a week. Belgrade and the Moldo- van capital of Chisinau will be connect- ed through four ights a week. In addition to these new destina- tions, Air Serbia will be improving its connectivity by adding new frequen- cies to existing routes, such as Prague, Zagreb, Tirana, Skopje, Bucharest, Lju- bljana, Dubrovnik, Tivat and Larnaca. When it comes to Istanbul, the destina- tion launched on 11 th December 2019, the Serbian national airline will increase the number of weekly ights as of April, from the existing three to seven a week. “We continue the successful year in which we achieved a record num- ber of passengers carried, but which also saw a great expansion of the net- work and the launch of operations from two other airports in Serbia. Our goal is to remain the airline of choice for all passengers from the region and to thus support the further economic and tour- ist growth of the Republic of Serbia. In addition to expanding the reach of the international network, we continue to improve the quality of service based on new trends in the airline industry, as well as the opinions of our passengers”, said Air Serbia CEO Duncan Naysmith. Serbia’s national airline last year es- tablished as many as ten new routes from Belgrade and twelve from Niš, as well as direct ights between Kraljevo and Vienna. Along with the addition of ights to six new destinations from Belgrade, Air Serbia will also establish a seasonal route this spring between Kraljevo’s Morava Airport and Greece’s Thessaloniki.
