CAPRA NATIONAL ACCREDITATION RECOGNITION AWARD 2010, 2015 & 2021

Our staff is proud to report that the City of Dublin continues to join the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies and departments across the country by earning its reaccreditation status through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies, and is a measure of best practices used to achieve overall quality of service to the community. This mark of distinction indicates that the City has met rigorous standards related to the management, planning and administration of public lands, facilities, resources, programs, safety and services.

The City of Dublin Parks and Recreation Department is one of 192 agencies in the country and one of ten agencies in Ohio to receive national accreditation. We achieved reaccreditation in 2021 and distinguished ourselves even further by meeting all 154 standards. To become accredited, agencies must demonstrate their ability to meet all 36 Fundamental Standards and 95% of the non-fundamental standards. We are pleased to exceed the standards for the benefit of our residents and guests.

SUMMER CAMPS

After two years of adjusting to the ever-changing pandemic, we are looking forward to welcoming your campers back to our traditional camp program. This means w e are planning for field trips, swim time and more interaction among our campers, camp staff and camp families. However, we are now facing a different challenge — a severe staffing shortage. In the past couple of months, you have probably pulled into your favorite coffee shop or restaurant only to find it closed due to limited staffing. We are facing the same situation, and are confronting it with increased wages, hiring bonuses, and intensive marketing efforts to reach potential applicants. However, despite our exhaustive efforts, we currently have a staffing deficit that require d us to limit and prioritize our camp offerings. We need to allow our recruitment efforts a little more time to yield results, so we have decided to postpone camp registration until April 5 to provide the most accurate and complete camp options. We know parents are anxious to secure their summer plans, so if the enrollment delay causes concern we encourage parents to seek alternative plans. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible while provid ing you with frequen t updates*. At this time, we have enough camp staff to run the camps listed below, and will continue to add enrollment spots and camp opportunities as recruitment continues. Our cautious and measured approach allows us to guarantee that we are able to deliver the camps available for registration while maintaining our high programming and staffing standards. We continue to be grateful to our campers and their families for their patience and understanding as we have navigated the past three summers together. Camp truly is a community partnership and we are thankful to have you as our partners.
