Your local government Council is Norfolk County’s governing body, with nine members—the Mayor and eight Councillors representing Norfolk’s seven wards—who are elected through the municipal election process every four-years. Local government works best when residents participate by sharing their ideas, asking questions, and providing input on community issues. A few ways you can get involved include: Speak at a Council meeting You have the right to take part in local government by making a deputation. This means you can speak directly to Council at a meeting, or you can send your comments in writing. Program changes Norfolk County may cancel or combine programs at any time prior to the start date of the program. The County reserves the right to change the program time, location or fee if required. If this happens, a registered participant will be eligible to receive a full refund or account credit. Programs and swim lesson registration Program information is viewable on ENCORE. The deadline to register is one week before the start date and is on a first-come, first- served basis. Register early to avoid disappointment of cancelled courses and programs due to low registration. All registrations require pre-payment. Accommodations Please contact Recreation Customer Service to connect with a member of the Recreation Team to accommodate your needs. Waitlists You will be placed on a waitlist for any full program or drop-in activities. If a spot becomes
available, you will be notified by email. Withdrawals To learn more about withdrawals for programs, classes and drop-in activities, visit norfolkcounty.ca/Rec. Exclusion dates Some programs are not available on some days, see ENCORE for details. Missed days/classes Absences from program days/classes due to illness, vacation, or for any other reason will not be eligible for credit or refund and make-up classes will not be available. Account credits may be issued for extended absences due to injury or other extenuating circumstances; a valid medical note is required. Transfers and late entry Transfers and late program entry are subject to availability and any difference in fees must be paid at the time of transfer.

Photography Policy To protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of all patrons, photography and recording are strictly prohibited in all washrooms, change rooms, and dressing areas within Norfolk County recreation facilities. This policy is in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada, Section 162, which recognizes a person’s reasonable expectation of privacy in spaces, such as washrooms and change rooms. Unauthorized photography, video recording, or observation in these areas is a criminal offence and may lead to prosecution. In program spaces, lobbies, and other public areas, please refrain from photographing or recording others without their explicit permission. Tax All recreation programs (excluding programs provided primarily to children 14 years of age or younger), memberships, and facility rentals are subject to HST.

Through Folklore & Fog: Myths and Legends of Norfolk Discover Norfolk County’s most enduring myths and legends, from buried treasure and witches to wandering spirits. Through artifacts, photographs, and archival records, this exhibit explores where folklore and history meet. Program Guidelines Follow all posted rules and staff directions at all times. Children attending Parent & Tot programs must be accompanied on the ice by a parent or guardian. Public skating participants must skate safely, maintain control, and respect other skaters. No food, beverages, cell phones, or handheld devices are permitted on the ice. Sticks & Pucks programs are for skill development only; scrimmages, shinny play, and aggressive play are not permitted.
Required and recommended safety equipment must be worn as outlined for each program. Failure to follow program rules will result in removal from the ice without a refund.
