L’USINE PRÉMOULÉ ROUVRE À LA SUITE D’UN INCENDIE
L’usine Prémoulé de Hawkesbury a rouvert ses portes à la suite d’un incendie vendredi soir, malgré les dégâts. Les dommages à l’usine de comptoirs et d’armoires sont estimés à environ 200 000 $. Selon le service des incendies de Hawkesbury, le feu a pris naissance à l›intérieur d’un conteneur de déchets et s›est rapidement propagé. Les pompiers ont reçu l›appel vers 21 h 15 le vendredi 1 er mars. Plus de 20 pompiers de Hawkesbury et de L’Orignal étaient sur place. L›incendie a été maîtrisé vers 21 h 50. Traffic through the village centre of Vankleek Hill was a bit slower than usual last week. A paving crew from Cornwall Gravel worked on hot-patching a few spots in the pavement around the intersection of Route 34 and Main Street, on February 27 and 28. Le 14 février dernier, les élèves de la troupe musicale ESPrit d’Show Musique de l’École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet, ont présenté leur spectacle annuel intitulé Promenade sur mars. Le spectacle a été présenté en trois volets. Tout d’abord, il a été présenté aux élèves de 4 e , 5 e et 6 e années de toutes les écoles élémentaires de la région. La troupe musicale a ensuite présenté son spectacle aux gens de la communauté en soirée. Que l’on parle de victuailles, de vêtements ou de cadeaux, on a toujours besoin de visiter plusieurs commerces. Afin de soutenir notre communauté, il est important de visiter d’abord les marchands locaux pour faire nos courses. Autrefois, alors que le réseau routier n’était pas si développé, chacun effectuait ses achats hebdomadaires dans un magasin près de chez lui. Dans chaque ville, dans chaque village, on retrouvait des magasins qui faisaient de bonnes affaires tout en répondant aux besoins de la communauté. Aujourd’hui, avec l’arrivée des mégacentres commerciaux dans les grandes villes, certains d’entre nous ont développé une envie d’exploration. Résultat : on va ache- ter les mêmes produits, ailleurs... On dépense de l’argent en carburant, dans l’espoir d’économiser quelques sous pour nos achats. Tout compte fait, on réalise que les économies sont quasi inexistantes, tout en nui- sant à la survie des commerces locaux. On ne peut affirmer le contraire : acheter localement, c’est économiser de l’argent... et du temps. Brillant! POUR LA VITALITÉ Par ailleurs, depuis quelques années, l’économie est plus instable. C’est pourquoi il est important de faire preuve d’un peu de solidarité afin de contrer les effets dévas- tateurs des perturbations économiques. C’est en injectant de l’argent directement dans la communauté qu’on réussira à maintenir à flot l’économie de notre région. Plus que jamais, il faut développer notre sentiment d’appartenance pour notre municipalité, pour la vitalité de celle-ci.
