« Nous aidons 250 enfants cette année », a déclaré Nicole Gaul, vice-présidente du conseil de direction du Centre d’Aide de Rockland, lors de la journée de distribution qui avait lieu le 18 décembre dernier, à la salle des Chevaliers de Colomb. Une soixantaine de bénévoles étaient occu- pés à placer des tables, organiser des jouets FUQSÊQBSFSEFTEÊDPSBUJPOTjø/PVTBWPOT plus de 250 cadeaux cette année, et nous allons certainement recevoir encore d’autres demandes bientôt », a souligné Mme Gaul. Les enfants n’étaient pas les seuls à rece- voir des cadeaux. Les familles ont eu droit à des chèques-cadeaux pour l’épicerie. Les montants variaient de 20 $ à plus de 200 $.

Langlois demeure au centre d’une enquête de la Police provinciale de l’Ontario (PPO) et du Barreau de l’Ontario. Celle-ci a débuté en 2016. KOREAN DAY CELEBRATED AT ST. FRANCIS-XAVIER SCHOOL

“We’re very lucky to be able to have this,” explained Clarence-Rockland mayor Guy Desjardins. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the students.” The principal of the school, Ralph Sharple, highlighted how important the event was for his school. “It’s the first time we host something like this,” he explained. “It will enable our students to create connections into the world. Who knows, some of them might end up studying in South Korea.” The partnership was established back in 2015, between Clarence-Rockland and the South Korean city of Boeun. The loud banging of drums echoed through the halls of the St. Francis- Xavier school on December 13. A partnership between the Republic of Korean Embassy, the Korean Cultural Centre, and the City of Clarence-Rockland resulted in a cultural experience like none other for grade seven through nine students. Called Korean Day, the event featured several different demonstrations, such as taekwondo, traditional music, and arts. In addition, students attended a lunch which featured Korean cuisine.

La Caisse populaire Trillium a remis deux chèques, d’une valeur de 1250 $ chacun, à deux organismes qui aident les plus démunis dans la région de Rockland, le 17 décembre dernier, soit la paroisse Sainte-Félicité et le Centre d’Aide de Rockland. « Nous sommes très occupés», a déclaré Agnès Caron, représentant la paroisse Sainte-Félicité. Normand Leroux, directeur général de la Caisse populaire Trillium, s’est dit fier de remettre le montant. « C’est notre façon de redonner à notre communauté », a déclaré M. Leroux. Selon lui, l’institution financière remet de tels montants lors du temps des Fêtes, et ce, depuis une quinzaine d’années. Juliette, elle-même élève de sixième année à l’école Sainte-Trinité, s’est fait couper les cheveux afin d’en faire don à la Société du cancer. Les Nationals de Rockland ont dominé leurs deux derniers adversaires, soit les Braves de Brockville et les 73s de Kemptville. Le 14 décembre dernier, les joueurs de Rockland ont voyagé jusqu’au Brockville Memorial Centre afin d’affronter les Braves. Brockville a vite pris le dessus sur ses adversaires, tôt en première période, mar- quant à deux reprises. Sam Allison, aidé de Parker Casey et Simon Kerr ainsi qu’Emerick Nadeau, aidé de Chris Brown, ont tous deux compté pour les Braves. Rockland a répliqué, toujours en première période, à la suite d’un but de Josh Norman, aidé de Cameron Scrivens et Simon Houle. Les Braves ont renforcé leur avance en deuxième période, avec un but de Fred Allaire, aidé d’Eric Faith et Casey. Les Natio- nals ont répliqué, avec un but de Norman, aidé de Connor Matton et David Lafrance. C’est en troisième période que les Nationals ont finalement mis le pied sur l’accélérateur, inscrivant quatre buts. Le capitaine Drew Shields, aidé de Nicolas Chartrand, Scrivens, aidé de Norman et Lafrance, Cameron Last ainsi que Simon Labelle, aidé de Matthew Vermaeten et Aidan Graham ont tous marqué. Les Nationals ont donc remporté la partie par le pointage de six à trois.

buts. Vermaeten a marqué à deux reprises, suivi de Labelle, aidé de Nicholas Wildgoose et Matton, ainsi que Craft aidé de Boyer et Last. Aucun but n’a été accordé lors de la deuxième période. En troisième, Scrivens a marqué sur des passes de Matton et Houle.
L’attaquant des 73s, Cameron McLean, a compté avec la complicité de Cole Dennison et Dylan Bond. Les Nationals ont donc remporté la partie avec le pointage de cinq à un. Ils possèdent maintenant une fiche de 25-9-2-1
