About the Scholarship This scholarship is given to graduate students who are currently involved in community development or programming for the Wisconsin communities that Marshfield Clinic Health System serves. Lexi is currently a second-year masters of athletic training student. Following graduation, she hopes to become an athletic trainer at a high school or university. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Her pride and joy is her dog, Harley, and her moped.
About the Scholarship Dr. Judith Herrold dedicated 34 years of service at UWSP with teaching, advising, serving faculty governance, mentoring new faculty, and her student advocacy. Her legacy of caring for students continues with this scholarship that supports outstanding Athletic Training students. Shelby is a first-year graduate student in the athletic training master's program. She is a member of the UW- Stevens Point Health Occupations Student Organization and is a team fitness center team lead at the Champions Hall Fitness Center. Charlie Crandall Scholarship LOGAN LUTZ
About the Scholarship This scholarship was established by Charlie “Doc” Crandall who was the head athletic trainer at UW-Stevens Point. Charlie served as the President of the Wisconsin Athletic Trainer’s Association from 1982 to 1986 and developed UWSP’s athletic training facilities and program. He was inducted into UWSP’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. This scholarship was created to assist second- year MSAT students with clinical education expenses. Logan earned his bachelor's degree in health science in 2022 and is currently studying to earn a master's degree in athletic training. He worked as a caregiver for Aurora Residential Alternatives and is an active member at his local Holy Spirit Church. Logan is completing an internship with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jessica Heckel '03 Homecoming Scholarship LAUREN SCHENEMAN Lauren is a first-year master's in athletic training student. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and rollerblading with her dog, Vinny Bruce. Next year, she will be working with St. Thomas's men's hockey team to gain more experience in the collegiate setting of athletic training. About the Honorary Alumni This scholarship was awarded in honor of UWSP alumna Jessica Heckel who graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a bachelor's degree in communicative disorders in 2003 and a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2006.

About the Scholarship The Peterson Family CPS Scholarship Fund provides support for a student in the College of Professional Studies participating in a study or service abroad program or a cultural service program in the United States. Established by Dennis and Sharon Peterson of Waupaca, WI, the intent of the scholarship is to give students the opportunity to develop their awareness and understanding of cultural traditions, lifestyles, or viewpoints that differ from their own. Kadie is a Doctor of Audiology student and enjoys working with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. She is beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to further expand her skill set in the field of audiology by learning about global healthcare issues at an audiology internship in Cape Town, South Africa this summer. Cook-Chappell Memorial Scholarship ELIZABETH BROWN Elizabeth is a Doctor of Audiology student who plans to work as a pediatric audiologist. She served as the volunteer and fundraising coordinator for the Student Academy of Audiology and mentored youth for the Boys and Girls Club in Eau Claire. Elizabeth also volunteered for the Mayo Clinic's Oncology Department where she assisted with providing emotional support to patients. About the Scholarship To provide a scholarship annually to an associate of Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital or Aspirus Medical Group Stevens Point Clinics who is pursuing an education in a healthcare-related field. This scholarship is made possible through the generosity of the Weaver family. They, along with the Aspirus Health Foundation, support the education and advancement of students seeking a career in the healthcare field. Tayllor is a speech-language pathology graduate student. She is passionate about rehabilitation and helping patients who have acquired cognitive communication disorders maximize their independence and communication. About the Scholarship This scholarship was established by John and Rita Canning in honor of Rita's brother, who died in an automobile accident during his senior year at UWSP in 1965. The scholarship originated with money raised by members of Vets 550, the student organization for which Thomas E. Meiers served as president. Every year, two student-veterans are awarded scholarships, based on scholastic achievement and other personal qualifications. More than 40 student veterans have benefited. The Cannings have helped many students achieve their personal goals and want this scholarship to go on forever. Randi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics spring 2023 and is pursuing master’s degree in community and organizational leadership. She is a United States of America Navy veteran and a mother of two children, Hayden and Hunter. About the Scholarship This scholarship was established in memory of Fay Finch Clifford who received her undergraduate degree in Home Economics from the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks. She completed her master’s degree in Home Economics at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1963. Fay was a faculty member at UW- Stevens Point until her retirement. These scholarships were given to honor a loving mother and dedicated teacher. for STEAM Days on campus. Stephanie hopes to work as a dietitian with her local hospital and perhaps to one day open a private practice for treating eating disorders. About the Scholarship Dr. Grace Hendel received her master's and doctorate in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of MN. From 1971 until her retirement in 1995, Dr. Hendel was a professor of Food and Nutritional Science at UW-Stevens Point. She served as head of the graduate Nutritional Science program. Dr. Hendel generously volunteered her professional skills as a Consulting Dietitian for the Portage County, WI Department of Aging-Nutrition Program. About the Scholarship This scholarship was established by Bessie May Allen, Director of the Home Economics Department at UWSP for 39 years. Bessie May Allen shaped the home economics program at UWSP. She was vital in keeping the program alive, bringing it back to campus after the Board of Regents had voted to eliminate it. Grace is majoring in sustainable food and nutrition and works as a student manager for UWSP's Dining and Summer Conferences. She is the treasurer of the United Nations Student Organization and hopes to move abroad and research food in other countries.

Since Dr. Youmans was such a great influence in the lives of many students, a scholarship fund was set up in Dr. Youmans' name. The first scholarship was awarded in 1996. Trevor will attend graduate school after earning his bachelor's degree and hopes to open a business in the food or health promotion and wellness industry. About the Scholarship Judy spent 36 years in the dietetics field. She developed a passion for UWSP students in dietetics while she worked with them throughout her career. Creating a scholarship for students has been a longtime dream of Judy's and hopes to help students who share the same passion for dietetics as she has.
Jane Wright Abrahamsen Home Economics Scholarship NATALIE STEWART
About the Scholarship This scholarship was created to honor the late Jane Wright Abrahamsen, by her husband Martin. Jane was born in Mauston who received a degree in home economics in 1928 and a bachelor's degree in home economics education in 1933, both from the Stevens Point Normal School. She then went on to get her master's degree from UW-Madison in 1936. She then taught in the Montfomery County Schools in Maryland for 21 years, earning an outstanding teacher award from the state of Maryland. Natalie is a dietetics senior who will begin her studies as a graduate student in UWSP's community and organizational leadership program this fall. She is the marketing coordinator of the Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a student manager for the CPS Café. Natalie hopes to complete her dietetics internship with UW-Green Bay.
Dr. Agnes A. Jones Scholarship JENNA TIMM
About the Scholarship Dr. Jones was head of the UWSP Department of Home Economics from 1956-81. During Jones’s tenure, home economics was upgraded from a department to a school. The program was the first in the state and 10th in the nation to be accredited by the American Home Economics Association. UWSP awards one scholarship in her honor to interior architecture, dietetics or family & consumer sciences students who demonstrate leadership, professional potential, ambition, academic achievement, good character, and concern for others–all qualities that can be said about Dr. Jones. Jenna is a dietetics major and is minoring in biology. She is a Marshfield Clinic Health System Health Scholar who helps address healthcare inequities by connecting patients to local resources according to their needs. Jenna works as a boot camp fitness instructor and hopes to become a sports dietitian for a professional NFL team.

Devin Loomans will graduate fall 2024 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She intends to gain experience working in acute care departments like the ER. In the future, she aspires to work as a clinical instructor in a hospital for physical therapy students. She is excited to use her skills and education to make positive impacts on patients by helping them improve their physical and mental health.
CORTNEY MEUNIER Alexa Posny Rural Healthcare Advocacy Scholarship Cortney is a second-year Doctor of Physical Therapy student. She is a member of the DPT Membership Committee and is the secretary for the DPT Special Interest Group. Cortney is passionate about creating youth programming and offering care that prioritizes injury and pain prevention. She looks forward to working as a physical therapist with community- focused initiatives centered around wellness and movement. Cortney is participating in a fellowship in Washington, D.C. this fall to advocate for the field of physical therapy to elected legislative officials. About the Scholarship This scholarship is in memory of Dr. Fern Horn, who received her undergraduate degree from UWSP, master’s from UW-Stout, and doctorate from Michigan State University. She taught home economics at UWSP for more than twenty years and was a leader in developing instructional materials for use by home economics teachers across the county. This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate academic ability, professional involvement in family and consumer sciences clubs or organizations, and competency as a classroom teacher. Dora Phelps Scholarship EVELYN DITZLER Evelyn is a family and consumer sciences major who will begin her student teaching experience next fall. She is a student manager of the CPS Café and is the vice president of the Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Evelyn hopes to become an FCS teacher for a high school near the community she grew up in. About the Scholarship This scholarship was established to honor Dora Phelps’ contributions to the School of Home Economics. As a program assistant, she gave service beyond the call of duty to both students and faculty. Her capacity for work, efficiency, accuracy, patience, and good nature as well as her interest in the students and the knowledge of the School of Home Economics. About the Scholarship Lucy Rose Johns established this scholarship as a memorial to her grandmother who only had a 7th-grade education but taught her more than anyone. When Lucy was in college, she couldn’t travel abroad because of financial concerns. Since then, Lucy has studied abroad several times and would like to enable a current student to participate because she believes broadening one’s horizons through travel is pure education. in the UK and Ireland, where she will attend the International Federation of Home Economics. Maya is a family and consumer sciences major who aspires to teach culinary skills to middle school or high school students. She is the conference coordinator for the Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the secretary of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. About the Scholarship This scholarship was established by UW-Stevens Point alumna, Karen McCulloch, to honor the memory of her parents, Donald and Eleanor Ansay. The Ansays firmly believed in the value of education. Their four children and several of their grandchildren attended UW-Stevens Point. Karen, herself, earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education from UWSP in 1975 and a Master of Science in 1978.
About the Scholarship This scholarship was created to honor the late Jane Wright Abrahamsen, by her husband Martin. Jane received a degree in home economics in 1928 and a bachelor's degree in home economics education in 1933, both from the Stevens Point Normal School. She then went on to get her master's degree from UW- Madison in 1936 She then taught in the Montfomery County Schools in Maryland for 21 years, earning an outstanding teacher award from the state of Maryland. sociology and will earn a certificate in family adversity and adaptation. About the Scholarship Realityworks is a local company in Eau Claire, WI, that creates, manufactures, and sells educational aides such as ECG simulators, hydroponic systems, and baby simulators. Realityworks started this scholarship to help family and consumer sciences students achieve their education and career goals. Rita Youmans Scholarship BRYN KIRSCH Bryn is currently a member of the leadership team for Watson Residence Hall and is a member of the Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences student organization. She looks forward to becoming a high school FCS teacher. About the Scholarship Mrs. Rita Youmans chaired UWSP's Home Economics Department from 1952 to 1956. Since Dr. Youmans was such a great influence in the lives of many students, a scholarship fund was set up in Dr. Youmans' name. The first scholarship was awarded in 1996. Today, this scholarship is given to dietetics and family and consumer sciences students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in student professional organizations.
About the Scholarship This scholarship was created by Melissa Booth and Robert Hardin of Madison, WI, to help students experience cultural diversity through international travel opportunities. Booth/Hardin Scholarship for International Educational Travel LYNZIE NIGHTINGALE Lynzie held many leadership positions with student organizations such as the Phi Upsilon Omicron Gamma Alpha Chapter and the Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She volunteers for the Wisconsin Health Occupations Students of America state conference and made several Dean's Lists. Lynzie is studying abroad this summer to the UK and Ireland where she will attend the International Federation of Home Economics Conference.

About the Scholarship Dr. Agnes A. Jones was a high school home economics teacher, a supervisor of home economics student teachers at UW-Madison, Home Economics Department Chair at Northern Illinois University before she was appointed as head of Home Economics at what was then Wisconsin State College-Stevens Point in 1957. For the next 24 years, Dr. Jones headed home economics in its most successful years when enrollment grew from 100 to almost 800. National Alliance of Mental of Mental Illness conference. About the Scholarship This scholarship was made possible by generous donations from UWSP faculty, staff, and the UWSP community. Kearyn is a health science and wellness pre-physical therapy major and will start her first year in UWSP’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program this summer. She serves as the president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and was a Marshfield Clinic Health Scholar who helped connect patients with resources that improved living circumstances and overall health. Kearyn represented UWSP at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference where she was part of conversations on how to improve equity, diversity and inclusivity for athletes. She hopes to become a physical therapist who works with high-performing individuals.
Bud Steiner Memorial Scholarship GERRIT BRINKMAN Gerrit is a health sciences and wellness major who plans to attend medical school after graduation. He is a Marshfield Clinic Health System Health Scholar and is the co-president of the National Wellness Institute student chapter. Gerrit works on campus as the Intramurals Student Manager and is in UWSP's Honors Program. About the Scholarship Oliver (Bud) Steiner was a 1965 graduate of UWSP who was one of the original three student managers of the then new University Center in the early sixties. After graduation he continued his employment with the Centers and was the longtime Assistant Director of the three University Centers, mainly responsible for daily operations and facilities. Around 1980, he became one of the Assistants to the Assistant Chancellor of Student Life, responsible for all the business functions of the campus auxiliaries (Centers, Housing, Dining). He served in this capacity until his death in 1986. Bud was killed while riding his bike across Canada. He was trying to ride 5,000 miles and raise $50,000 for scholarships.

About the Scholarship Jack Lane was employed by the Soo Railroad and stationed in Stevens Point. An avid runner and community volunteer, Jack unfortunately suffered a fatal heart attack early in his life. Jack was a very outgoing person and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His family established the Jack Lane Memorial Fund in his honor and contributed the initial support. Jack’s good friend Ron Cook, a Health Promotion person at Sentry Insurance was instrumental in establishing this scholarship and has contributed yearly to keep it going.
