Februar 2023.
February 2023
Dragi putnici,
Dear passengers,
Sredinom marta počećemo da letimo do no- vih destinacija do kojih nismo leteli u prethod- nim godinama. Pra- tite nas, nova sezona donosi nove destinacije. Nadam se da smo vam probudili maštu i pomogli oko odabira sledeće destinacije koju ćete posetiti. Uživajte u letu i srećan put, Jirži Marek, Generalni direktor Er Srbije
Following two challenging years for aviation that were marked by the corona- virus pandemic, last year we achieved significant progress, as evidenced by our results published in mid-January. We are very proud of the fact that we carried 2.76 million passengers in 2022, operated flights along as many as 87 routes to four continents, and performed a total of 31,420 flights. An inter- esting fact is that, during the 365 days of last year, we flew 3,468,850 hours, equivalent to circumnav- igating the globe 754 times. We have entered the new year ambitiously. We immediately began by expanding our regional fleet with another ATR 72-600 type aircraft, bearing the registration code YU-ASA. And we are continuing to renew our fleet, in order to provide even more comfort for you during our flights. We all look forward to travelling, as it brings unforgettable moments and memories that we will remember for our entire lives. There are many reasons to travel, and during February we often travel on wings of love. There is almost no destination that is not romantic when you travel with a loved one. However, we can all agree that certain cities are synonymous with love. Among them is Paris, known for its charming streets, parks and palaces, whose beauty is composed from a rich history and wondrous architecture. Venice is another excellent choice, and you are sure to fall in love with its squares and canals at first sight. Even those who are sceptical of romance will struggle to resist the sunrises and sunsets viewed from its bridges. In mid-March we will launch flights to new destinations that we haven’t served in previous years. Perhaps the most attractive among them is Chicago, our second destination in North America, but fans of travelling will certainly also look forward to the possibility of direct flights from Belgrade to Ankara, Izmir, Catania, Naples, Florence, Palermo, Hamburg, Cologne, Gothenburg, Marseille, Krakow, Ohrid, Varna and Budapest. If you have already started thinking about your summer holiday, you can book flights to Rhodes, Corfu, Heraklion and Chania on our website today. Follow us, as the new season brings new destinations. I hope that we have sparked your imagination and helped you select your next destination to visit. Enjoy Enjoy your flight and have a pleasant trip, jiri marek, CEO Air Serbia

Previous year’s operating results revealed
Over the course of the previous year, Air Serbia flew a total of 87 ro- utes across Europe, North America, Asia and Africa, via scheduled, sea- sonal and charter flights. Compared to 2021, direct flights were launched to 15 new destinations, including Va- lencia, Malaga, Malta, Lyon, Bologna, Hanover, Nuremberg and others. As of 9 th December, the national airline resumed flights to the People’s Re- public of China after a 22-year hiatus. The first destination in this Asian co- untry is Tianjin, China’s fourth largest city and the largest port in the north of the country. This resulted in Air Ser- bia managing to position itself on the market as one of the few European airlines to offer direct flights to the Pe- ople’s Republic of China. “In 2023, we will celebrate the 10 th anniversary of operations as Air Serbia. We have great plans ahead. Air Serbia will introduce more than 20 new destinations, including Chica- go, our second destination in North America. Our airline is continuously renewing and expanding the fleet. We are aware that passenger expe- ctations are high, and we are ready to continue developing and changing for the better,” said Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek. One interesting fact is that, over the 365 days of 2022, the aircraft of the Serbian national airline flew a combined distance equivalent to cir- cumnavigating the globe a total of 754 times, or as far as 30.2 million ki- lometres. Total flight duration was 3,468,850 hours.
nova aviona tipa ATR 72-600.
Air Serbia carried 73% more passengers in 2022 compared to 2021
U 2022. godini ER Srbija prevezla 73 odsto putnika više nego u 2021.

Air Serbia carried a total of 2.76 million passengers on schedu- led and charter flights in 2022, mar- king a 73% increase compared to the previous year. From July to De- cember, the company achieved re- cord-breaking monthly results in terms of numbers of passengers carried. The average load factor stood at 72%, which represents an increase of eight percentage points year-on-year. Air Serbia also expanded its network in 2022, adding 15 new destinations and bolstering its fleet with seven new aircraft. In November, the long-haul fleet welcomed its second wide-body air- craft in the form of an Airbus A330- 200 sporting the image of famous Serbian scientist and inventor Mihaj- lo Pupin. The jet fleet was also enric- hed with the addition of another Air- bus A319 and Airbus A320, while four new ATR 72-600 type aircraft joined the regional fleet.

ready visible, because this is the real indicator of our com- pany’s ability to react quick- ly and recognise opportuni- ties for recovery and growth. This result comes after two ex- tremely difficult years, not on- ly for our company, but for the entire commercial aviation sector globally. I am particular- ly pleased that we are entering our milestone 10 th year since Air Serbia was established in the best possible way, and that
we have ambitious plans for this year, some of which we have already announced,” said Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek, add- ing that “Air Serbia plans to publish its operating results for 2022, but we can already say that the Serbian national air- line last year came within 2% of the record-setting passen- ger numbers achieved in 2019, which is one of the best results in Europe when it comes to this parameter.”
According to preliminary re- sults, Air Serbia posted a posi- tive net and operating result for 2022, for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavi- rus pandemic, generating prof- its of 21 million euros, without a single euro coming from gov- ernment subsidies. This positive preliminary finan- cial result was achieved thanks to efficient operations and

Zašto volite avione?
Why do you like planes?
Godine 2019. obje- dinjuje ceo svoj popularni autor- ski opus pod umetničkim imenom MAPO Keys – Multiple Artistic Per- sonality Order i formira devetočla- ni bend sa kojim nastupa u prestiž- nom njujorškom klubu „Nublu“.
“When it comes to planes, I most like take- offs , landings, and the bit in be- tween [laughs]. It’s clear to you that I simply adore flying and everything to do with flying. I dream of one day being a pilot myself. When I fly, I feel a mixture of adrenaline and freedom. I feel like a bird in the sky. Of course, I also like to sit by the window and view the places I’m taking-off from and those where I land. That’s especially so with the Bay of Kotor and New York.” What don’t you board a plane without? “I don’t enter a plane without a circular pillow for my neck and head- phones, or some device for listen- ing to music. Najromantičnija mesta za poljubac The most romantic kissing spots
There is nowhere else where love blooms and breathes like it does in Paris. And that’s why it’s the best destination to immerse your spirits in romantic fervour. Spend a magical Valentine's Day in this city that’s buzzing with roman- ce during February. Here we present the French capital’s most charming spots to sneak a kiss.
Under the Pont Marie A favourite fib of tour guides on the Seine’s riverboats is to say that the first time you pass under the Pont Marie with a new lover you are bound by a Parisi- an tradition to give them a kiss. After all, what’s wrong with having one more ex- cuse for a smooch?
In Monet’s galleries The eight paintings that surround you in the two oval rooms of the Musée de l’Or- angerie were Monet’s final works and some of his most enchanting. He gifted them to the City of Paris as a symbol of peace upon the conclusion of World War I and their ethereal beauty has endured for more than a century. If you can’t make it to the artist’s incredibly romantic gardens in Giverny, this is the perfect substitute.

At the top of the Eiffel Tower Sure, it’s a bit of a cliché, but what list of Parisi- an smooching spots would be complete without mentioning the Eiffel Tower? If a fear of heights is going to squish the romance out of the moment, or indeed if the thought of queuing for more than half an hour is a buzzkill for you, then keep your feet firmly on the ground and have your kiss be- tween the tower’s four legs, with the amazing steel latticework towering above you.
In a Latin Quarter café There are parts of Paris that could be anywhere in Europe. However, there is something unmistakably Parisian about the Latin Quarter—perhaps due to its history, narrow streets and cen- turies-old university, or perhaps be- cause of how popular it remains with locals. Either way, cosy up with your special person on a terrace and soak in its unique atmosphere.
Dok sedite na obali Sene
On the banks of the Seine The official reasons for the recent moves of the Mayor of Paris to convert even more of the banks of the Seine into pedestrian walkways may be to re- duce noise and air pollution, but creat- ing even more romantic spots was also high on the political agenda. Make the most of the decision by sitting hand- in-hand on the stone ledge beside the river, or cuddling up in one of the newly created gardens.
At the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
Pretty much every spot in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is suited to a bit of canoodling. The belvedere situated at the highest point of this former quar- ry offers amazing views over Paris and, provided you’re able to get it to your- selves on a quiet day, is like something straight out of a fairy tale. Take your prince(ss) by the hands, spin around a couple of times à la Disney, and finish it off with the movie like kiss.
Unutar Galerije Vivijen Od svih pokrivenih prolaza u Parizu Galerija Vivijen je možda najlepša. Od složenih mozaičkih podova do zasvo- đenog staklenog plafona, tu je i veli- ki broj slatkih kafica i barova u kojima možete lako da provedete popodne sa čežnjom gledajuci u oči svog par- tnera Inside the Galerie Vivienne Of all the arcade passages of the French capital, the Galerie Vivienne is perhaps the most beautiful. From intri- cate mosaic floors to an arched glass ceiling, it also boasts a number of cute cafés and bars where you can easi- ly spend an afternoon gazing longingly into your partner’s eyes.
On the Pont des Arts One of the world’s original locations for safeguarding couples’ love with a pad- lock, the Pont des Arts was recently cleared of its one million or so symbols of enduring passion after they threatened to weigh down the bridge. Nevertheless, the bridge still stands, traversing the Seine at a particularly scenic point, and remains rich territory for selfies and kissing.
In front of the clock at the Musée d’Orsay
There’s nothing like a bit of Impressionist art to get you in the mood for romance. All those delicate brush strokes and depictions of softly shifting light preoccupy the mind with thoughts on the pas- sage of time. When you reach the museum’s top floor, you’ll be ready to stop in front of the huge clock window with your loved one and make time stand still for a minute.

On the Pont Neuf The oldest bridge in Paris seems like it was made for lovers. All along the two stretches of the Pont Neuf are stone alcoves with wide benches that are perfect for romantic embraces and the obligatory happy-couple-in-Paris photographs.

WELCOME TO SERBIA!
In a quiet corner of Montmartre Montmartre has always been home to the ro- mantic at heart. At the turn of the 20 th centu- ry – as immortalised in the film Moulin Rouge! – this district was filled with Bohemian artists and poets looking to capture the unique spir- it of the world. Parts of the neighbourhood (like the steps of the Sacré-Coeur) are today chock-a-block with tourists, but you don’t have to wander far along its narrow, cobbled streets to find a quiet spot for two.
In front of the Opéra Garnier It doesn’t get more romantic than a night at the opera, but you don’t necessarily have to fork out for a ticket. Not only is the Opéra Gar- nier breathtaking enough to merit taking your loved one in your arms, local musicians are usu- ally playing for all those gathered on the front steps. Here you’ve got majestic architecture, gilded statues, live music, and Paris rushing by in every direction: the perfect combination!

Intervju Interview
Vuk Vidor is one of the region’s most prominent visual artists. He lives and works between Serbia and France, with both Belgrade and Paris as his homes
Nadrealizam, DADA, pop-art, sve do osamdese- tih...

Intervju / Interview
Vuk Vidor, artist Welcome to the Weird World Vidor took analogue photographs shot using a camera and unified them in an authentic visual book that he uses to reexamine the reality of the contemporary moment, digitally filtered fake pictures and scenes of the world and the people in it
the world, recounting sto- ries etc. How long was the period in which they were created and how did you se- lect them? “All the photographs in the book are analogue, which means that they were taken in the period from the ‘90s until 2004, when I started shooting photos with small digital cameras. The book was conceived as a compila- tion of photos that were classified, ac- cording to the photo labs that printed them, as being of poor quality, incor- rectly framed, out of focus, and which were thus rejected or excluded from invoicing. I started compiling them with the idea that, when I had enough of them, I would make some kind of conglomeration that would retrospec- tively present the world from a dislo- cated perspective; a world in which everything that’s accidental or imper- fect actually becomes more real than something that’s been posed and em- bellished. That so-called “weird world” is actually the real world.” You live between Belgrade and Paris. In your opinion, what are the similarities and differences between these cities in the context of your photographs, and in the context of then and now. What has changed? “For me, photography serves as a way to record moments for the future. Photographs provide the basis for a relationship with the past, because it is through them that we create a con- nection with that past and with the personal creation of our own histo- ry, either with or without nostalgia. Both cities have naturally changed, although they had completely differ- ent paths. Photography often serves to idealise, especially when it comes to cities, and that sometimes conflicts with personal experiences that aren’t always ideal. If you view the world through the prism of these photo- graphs, it isn’t always clear where they were shot, other than when something is written, but what uni- fies them is that certain dose of bru- tality. Despite everything changing rapidly, that brutality always remains. Everywhere.”
Do you like to fly? How do you feel aboard Air Serbia planes? “I’ve been flying since I was born and that’s always been precious to me as some specific moment beyond the confines of gravity. Although air trav- el has changed a lot, the feeling is al- ways the same when flying above the clouds. Somehow the planes them- selves haven’t changed much since I first started flying, and when I pass by the aviation museum that’s lo- cated alongside Nikola Tesla Airport I see JAT's Caravelle, which I know I flew aboard all the way to the Con- corde that stands alongside Charles de Gaulle airport, which I once had the privilege of flying on. So, I have my own personal history of aviation that follows me from one point to the other when it comes to Paris and Belgrade, and I’m glad that Air Serbia is today continuing that long tradition, be- cause aviation was part of the devel- opment of society in our country from a very early stage and provided a way for our country to be connected with the entire world.”
Pariz i Beograd jesu moji gradovi jer sam najviše vezan za njih Paris and Belgrade are my cities because I’m connected to them the most
Zašto volite Pariz i ko- ja tri manje poznata me- sta (a vama draga i zani- mljiva) biste preporučili u tom gradu?
His works are engaging and often awash with his- torical references , while his vision of art is often controversial. And that also describes the book re- cently published by Mascom: Weird World presents discarded analogue photographs that were created over the course of years and were initial-
ly considered “bad”. For Vidor, as an artist, they provided a way of fixing time and creating memories, as well as helping him in his work on paint- ings, drawings or installations... The photographs included in the book Weird World show
different people, self-por- traits, places from around

Intervju / Interview
The digital age has turned us all into photographers. What was people’s attitude towards photography previ- ously like? “The attitude towards photogra- phy used to be very specific and im- plied a certain commitment. Today, of course, we’re all photographers. Pri- or to the emergence of smartphones, who ever had 6, 8 or 10 thousand photos in their pocket, let alone in a single lifetime? This is normal today, because technology has been com- bined with a certain dose of narcis- sism and a desire to idealise intima- cy or everyday life and present it in a filtered, fake way. I think real art photographers have been hit hard- est by the fact that today everyone can very easily achieve high-quality results without a lot of effort or kno- whow, but that’s a point that we can also expand upon in other spheres, and not just photography.” You’ve always derived the most inspiration from what happened in art during the 20 th century. Surrealism, DADA, pop art, all the way up to the ‘80s... Does ana- logue photography logically fit into that? “Photography has meddled inti- mately in the lives of all of us at every level, artistic, personal or civilisation- al. When it comes to the history of art, it naturally changed a lot of things and became part of that very history, from the start of the 20 th century to this day. Digitalisation, which simpli- fies the medium’s accessibility, proba- bly leads it in different directions, but good photography, like a good picture, is something that simply has its own parameters, regardless of how much technology has shifted.” Technology changes, but the seminal questions re- main the same. As an artist, which questions are you cur- rently trying to answer? “Absolutely, but one shouldn’t fall into the trap of technology and thinking of it as progress in and of itself, and that it solves everything when it comes to art, because that can be very shaky ground and short-
lived. What needs to be done is to answer, in a given time and place, the key questions of that time us- ing adequate tools, because it thus remains simultaneously contempo- rary and enduring. Those questions have remained the same since the very emergence of humankind, and they are: who are we; why are we here and where are we going.” Do you still use an analogue camera? What fascinates or occupies your eye today? “No, I'm not nostalgic in that re- gard. I use what everyone else uses, which is either digital cameras when needed or phone cameras. My eye still functions according to the same principle, and that is to find some- thing that catches my eye, from ba- nalities to peculiar things, so I con-
“I’ve spent my whole life in Par- is, so it would be difficult for me to single out something that wouldn’t be known, because this is after all a city that’s a centre of world tour- ism. What connects me with it per- sonally are the areas where I grew up and where I mostly lived, stud- ied, walked or spent time, name- ly the Marais, the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain etc. I most often head out for a walk and enter gal- leries and museums to see what’s going on. It is this that marks my connection and interest with a city, especially when it comes to Paris, where there is – as we are well aware – a lot of that. I would recommend heading through the city in order to feel its energy, which is some- thing that works for any place on
Drago mi je što Er Srbija danas nastavlja sa dugom tradicijom koja našu zemlju povezuje sa celim svetom I’m glad that Air Serbia is today continuing that long tradition that connects our country with the entire world
tinue with that mental frame, albeit with new technology.” What are the projects cur- rently occupying your time and are you planning to stage an exhibition in Bel- grade or Paris soon? “I’m planning four exhibitions in Belgrade for the spring, which will open on the same day, but at four dif- ferent locations, so visitors will be able to go from one space to anoth- er to see new cycles of pictures and drawings that I’ve been working on in recent years, as well as new spa- tial installations.” What do you love about Par- is and which three less-
the planet, because only when you understand the entirety and diver- sity of a city can you really experi- ence it as you should.” Which city do you most con- sider as being your own; and where does your work most- ly take you? “Paris and Belgrade are my cit- ies because I’m connected to them the most, but I think everyone who’s travelled around the world a bit has some personal mental and physical topography and geography through which they set aside neighbourhoods, streets, corners and spaces in every city that they experience as their own. My work is linked to the space where I work and create. That currently re- lates more to Belgrade, while for a long time it was Paris, and we’ll see what the future brings...”
er-known places (that you find precious and interest- ing) in that city would you recommend?
