Dear Passengers,

Dragi putnici,

THIS SPRING BRINGS EXCITING NEWS. As of last month, we now offer a direct service from Belgrade to two attractive destinations in Spain – having restored flights to Madrid and introduced flights to Valencia for the first time – and May is the ideal time to visit them. We fly to the Spanish capital, one of the sunniest capital cities in Europe, twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Madrid’s main sights are best toured on foot, with a light walk that enables you to discover less crowded squares and quarters, find respite in local ta- pas bars and try an authentic Spanish dessert – chur- ros with chocolate. And no other month is as beautiful as May for walking the streets of this Spanish metrop- olis and taking in its irresistible energy, which also in- spired the famous Almodóvar. If you opt for our new destination, Valencia, which we are also flying to twice a week, you will have the op- portunity to enjoy a multitude of landmarks, dishes and festivals, as well as beautiful beaches that are bathed in sunshine for an average of 300 days a year. If you like the sea, summer weather, partying and delicious food, Valencia is ideal for you, and I’m certain you’ll return home from the trip feeling satisfied. In addition to our new destinations, we have more good news: we will soon be joined by new cabin crew members. That’s because we’ve organised a call for hiring new members for the first time after a two-year break, and we welcomed all candidates with great pleasure. A very exciting and extremely challenging summer sea- son is ahead of us, with a large number of flights and new destinations, which is precisely why we’ve opened our doors to new colleagues. With the expansion of our network of destinations and our team, also expanding our fleet was a logical step. Our latest reinforcement, a jet Airbus A319 air- craft, will help us improve our operating efficiency sig- nificantly and increase our capacities in response to de- mand, particularly during the summer holiday season. The start of the summer charter season is another thing that we’ve been looking forward to enthusiastical- ly. In cooperation with our partners, travel agencies, we offer you a large number of flights from Belgrade and Niš to popular summer destinations, so it’s already time to start planning your summer break. With our selection of very attractive coastal destinations, you will be able to pick the right holiday destination to suit your needs.

Zašto volite avione?

Why do you like planes?

U avionu zaboravim na svakodnevnicu / On a plane i forget about everyday life

Letenje sam zavoleo još kao dečak i taj osećaj pozitivne treme, iščekivanja i uzbuđenja nije me napustio do danas. Svako ukrcavanje u avion mi izmami osmeh jer me lete- nje opušta, zaboravim na svakodnevi- cu.

I fell in love with flying back when I was a boy, and that feel- ing of positive jitters, anticipation and excitement has remained with me to this day. Every time I board a plane it makes me smile, because flying relax- es me; I forget everything about every- day life. The stress disappears as soon as I take my seat on the plane. When I have the option, I choose a window seat, so I can observe the pan- orama of the city I’m approaching, and those are memorable moments. On the other hand, the reason I always priori- tise travelling by plane over any other means of transport is the huge savings in terms of time, which we all seem to be lacking. I also like planes because I can jump to my favourite centres of fash- ion, such as Paris, Rome and New York, which provides us creative folk with the opportunity to en- joy new trends, and to do so live. What don’t you board a plane without? I haven’t boarded a plane for years without headphones, a tele- phone installed with music of my choosing, a magazine, sunglass- es and, of course, a smile, which is indispensable.

Valencia is an ancient Spani- sh city, situated in the eastern part of the country on the Me- diterranean coast. The city has been conquered numero- us times over the centuries, falling into the hands of diffe- rent cultures: Roman, Muslim, Christian. Each period made its own mark on the city, and has left behind the amazing sights of Valencia that are ri- ghtfully a source of pride for the city. Here past and present intertwine, while the usual ur- ban hustle and bustle is mi- ssing. Medieval buildings, wi- th their secrets, paintings and unique architecture, stand si- de by side with modern works that inspire reverence. However, in addition to the many sights, we cho- se three for which the city is widely known - the Holy Grail, the paella and the silk lodge. Cathedral The beautiful Gothic Cathedral of the Virgin Mary is a symbol of the city and one of its ma- in attractions. It stands on a site once occupied by a tem- ple of the Roman goddess of the hunt Diana, which the Ro- mans erected in her hono- ur, and a later replaced with a mosque. It was in the 13th century that the Spaniards de- molished the mosque and la- id the foundations of today’s cathedral. That was in 1262, but construction lasted 94 ye- ars, while the cathedral was rebuilt several times over the following few hundred years. Interview Intervju

It was in April that the FOX channel began premiering this popular series that’s been nominated for two Emmys, the first 44 episodes of which we’ll be watching weekdays from 8pm

U Beograd!

Sam početak treće sezone, prve dve epizode, zaista se odvijaju u Beogradu, odnosno u Srbiji The start of the third season, the first two episodes, really take place in Belgrade, or in Serbia

zauzeli centar Beograda, spustili helikopter, izokrenuli nekoliko au- tomobila i izazvali opštu pomet- nju u gradu. Pritom i „pohapsili“ neke naše glumce, mada ćemo to tek gledati u trećoj sezoni…

David Boreanaz, actor I can’t wait to return to Serbia We first met him as the handsome “vampire with a soul” who loved Buffy, then fell in love with him as charming FBI agent Seeley Booth in the series Bones, only to discover that he’d also fallen in love while shooting his latest series, SEAL Team, and that he’d actually fallen in love with Belgrade!

me što uvek bira prave lokacije za snimanje. Retko snimamo u studi- ju. Smatram da prava lokacija daje posebnu i specifičnu vizuelnu no- tu.

Slayer, or for his work on the se- ries Bones, but only his truly ador- ing fans know that his first role was in the series Married... with Chil- dren, and that he appeared in the music video for British singer Di- do’s song White Flag. One of the most engaged people on television, he’s an actor and pro- ducer whose projects roll out con- tinuously, one after another, with him standing both in front of and behind the camera… Following the end of shooting after a whopping 12 seasons of the show Bones, he ded- icated himself to CBS Television’s military drama series SEAL Team, in which he is both the lead actor and executive producer. This show serialises the professional and per- sonal lives of the most elite unit of the Navy SEALS, showing precise- ly what these special forces do, and we actually saw first-hand what they

do when they took over Belgrade city centre for the needs of shoot- ing, flying a helicopter low and over- turning several cars as they caused general commotion across the city. They also “arrested” some of our lo- cal actors, though we’ll only watch that happen in the third season. What do you remember about your time spent film- ing in Serbia for the third season of SEAL Team? - I mostly remember that I still want to go back to Serbia. We were welcomed by wonderful people, who were genuinely happy about us working in their country. As I’m also the producer of this series, it was a great challenge for me to work both behind and in front of the camera over the course of 16 days. I none- theless managed to devote every free moment I had to familiarising myself with Belgrade and walking its streets. After many years, I al- so saw a Yugo car. You probably al- ready know that story: that make was the first car I owned, which my parents bought me to drive myself to school. One day, during filming in Belgrade, I stumbled across a Yu- go and was thrilled to discover that those cars still exist. Will Belgrade represent some other city or is the story really set in Serbia? - The start of the season, the first two episodes, really take place in Belgrade, or in Serbia. In accord- ance with the screenplay, we work together with domestic special forces to tackle a terrorist threat that’s carrying out activities that could destabilise the entire world. We worked with a lot of local actors. The film shoot conditions were phe- nomenal, there are few places where we encounter such good and crea- tive experts. We really felt totally re- laxed and ready for work at any in- stant. When it comes to the season itself, those first two episodes are the most explosive and intriguing, and they’re an introduction to the next two episodes, which were al- so shot in Serbia, but for them Bel- grade portrays Paris. Did you manage to uncover

We can almost con- clude that we’ve been watching David Boreanaz on our TV screens for at least two decades. He’s best known to most as Angel from the show Buffy the Vampire

nim serijama. Posle 30 godina kako vam danas izgledaju ti prvi koraci?

Među- tim, onaj drugi, glumac, odmah ućutka ovog prvog i šapne mi: „Sa- mo nastavi, nisi slabić“. Od tada takve scene ipak prepuštam statistima. all of our little secrets? - I know that Serbia is renowned for its great food, but this was the first time I’d had an opportunity to confirm that for myself. I’m a great gourmet, but also a lover of local specialities. I like to enjoy all the local flavours and aromas. In your country, however, I was delighted with the vegetables, which were so tasty that I ordered our head chef to make all our meals from fresh, or- ganic food, just so that I could en- joy meals that have flavour, if on- ly briefly. Serbia reminded me that food is more than a collection of vi- tamins and proteins that serve us as fuel. It doesn’t only move our body, but also our soul. Why did you choose Ser- bia specifically to shoot the third season? - Our show is known for always selecting the right filming locations. We rarely shoot in a studio. To me, the right location provides a special and specific visual element. It’s diffi- cult to use animation and fake scen- ery to invoke the true spirit of the country where the action unfolds. We’ve never worked in that way at least. We shot one of the previous seasons in Puerto Rico. With Ser- bia, it just so happened that all our requirements aligned. Apart from an original setting, we also got a high-quality creative team, which meant a lot to us from the profes- sional aspect. There are many similar shows. What makes SEAL Team different? - I think it’s precisely that first-

hand approach. This is a military action drama and the soldiers are to the fore. However, the emphasis isn’t placed as much on the action scenes as it is on emphasising the true meaning of military life. The spirit of the military. When com- ing up with the episodes, we didn’t leave anything to chance. We had real military veterans as consult- ants. They helped me a lot when it came to making some details of the story more credible. Interest- ingly, I actually wear the helmet of one of those veterans in the show. Despite it being much heavier than the helmets normally used on set, I wouldn’t dream of replacing it. Lit- tle things like that actually help me to always keep somewhere in my mind the debt of gratitude we owe to people who go into battle so the rest of us can sleep peacefully. What was the greatest challenge you faced making this show? - That’s definitely the challenge, as an actor, of being your own di- rector. That’s a very demanding re- sponsibility. It requires huge dis- cipline and self-control not to fire yourself [laughs]. Actors are char- acteristic for sometimes being a bit stubborn and always trying to ad- just the camera to suit themselves and their ideas. The work and re- quirements of directing, howev- er, are much simpler. The director is only looking for one thing – a good shot. And nothing else in- terests him. I was capable of argu- ing with myself, but the two of us would ultimately always somehow

find a compromise. Though there were some extreme situations. For instance, I always insist on original military equipment that’s several pounds heavier. In those moments, the director within me says – ‘Da- vid, take that off and put on your stage kit, you’ll break your back and knees’. However, that other charac- ter, the actor, immediately hushes the first guy and whispers to me – ‘just keep going, you’re not a weak- ling’. Unfortunately, on that occa- sion the director was right. After ten steps, I tripped, sprained my wrist and nearly dislocated both knees. I’ve left those sorts of scenes to extras since then. It just so happens that we’ve followed your ca- reer in Serbia through al- most all of your previous shows. Today, 30 years in- to your career, how do you see those first steps? - I think I was initially very awkward and clumsy. Like some- one staggering from steppingstone to steppingstone until I reached sol- id ground and knocked on the right door. Buffy was my big ticket to the world of television, but it took a long time for that opportunity to arise. That break comes earlier for some, while there are actors who only get the roles of their life to- wards the end of their careers. In my case, I found myself in the right place at the right time. And there’s nothing that I’d change today. In my life, I’ve always played safe cards. Work and dedication always pay off. Everything else is a gamble.

Oduševio sam se što ta kola i dalje postoje After many years, I also saw a Yugo car!
