Reč dobrodošlice
Welcome message
January 2024
Januar 2024.
Dear passengers,
Dragi putnici,
Do nekog novog susreta, uživajte u letu i srećan put.
The great Albert Einstein once said: “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for to- morrow”. Air Serbia, as a national airline, has a 97-ye- ar-long tradition upon which we have built our operations and embedded in our present. And our present is very important to us, given that we share it with you, our pa- ssengers. We are today also making plans that will lead us to new successes. Air Serbia’s plans for 2024 are oriented towards the improving of our offer and the upgrading of our servi- ces. You have surely already heard that we have plans to launch new routes between Belgrade and China. We are working diligently on this and it will be our pleasure to welcome you aboard these flights when the time co- mes. Apart from China, we will also try to add some new cities in Europe and the region to the network and incre- ase the frequency of daily and weekly flights to our most popular existing destinations. This is why we are trying to further expand our fleet and will focus on new aircraft for long-haul destinations. According to an agreement signed recently, Menzies Aviation will perform ground handling and ramp services for our company at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, star- ting as of February. We hope that this will significantly im- prove the guest experience for all our passengers flying from, or arriving at, Belgrade Airport. In addition to Belgrade, our airline also flies from two other international airports in Serbia: Niš Constantine the Great and the Morava Airport near Kraljevo. Thanks to the contract signed recently with the Ministry of Constructi- on, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Ser- bia, over the next four years we will continue flying from these airports to a total of ten regional and European destinations. And since we are mentioning the number four, we should note that Air Serbia carried its 4-milli- onth passenger since the start of 2023 in mid-Decem- ber, representing the highest number since the com- pany began operating under its current name and one of the three best results of the national airline since its 1927 establishment. If we had to single out the keywords of this text, I would suggest future, quality and improvement. These are also the areas that Air Serbia will focus on in 2024. Be part of our future. Please contribute to improving our quality of service by providing your feedback. We are always ha- ppy to hear anything you want to tell us. Until we meet again, enjoy your flight and have a ni- ce trip.

with Belgrade to become the next major city, in Novem- ber 2024, to receive an opportunity to host aviation in- dustry leaders. Alongside the City of Belgrade, the CAPA Summit will be co-hosted by the Serbian national airline. Spea- king following confirmation of the event, Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek said: “We are very pleased that Belgrade has been recognised as an excellent venue for dialogue among key players in the aviation industry, and it is a gre- at honour for us to host the summit together with the Ci- ty of Belgrade. During the two days of the summit, si- gnificant attention will be devoted to the main trends and essential aspects of the aviation industry in 2024, and we will also examine the results, with expert insights and professional conclusions about the future of aviati- on. I am confident that all our guests will leave the sum- mit full of positive impressions of the city, as well as new perspectives on the aviation industry. At the same time, I want to thank the City of Belgrade, which recognised the importance of this type of event, and certainly also the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which provides continuous support to the development of air traffic in Serbia, as one of the key segments of the country’s ove- rall economic development.” Marco Navarria, Content & Marketing Director at CAPA – Centre for Aviation, said: “The CAPA Airline Le- ader Summit World is the jewel in the crown of CAPA’s global event calendar. Zašto volite avione?
Why do you like planes?
Avion je kao san A plane is like a dream
“I like planes because It’s as though you dreamt something beautiful . You create yourself in some other distant, often unknown place, and you suddenly find yourself in another world, another culture, hearing another language, people watching and enjoying the beauty of diversity. And then, in that same dream, you find yourself in your own bed, in your own house. You’ve returned...” What don’t you board without? “I usually carry a book or a script for something new I’m working on (I like to pre- pare for roles aboard planes), a toothbrush and a little toothpaste, travel deodorant, all in a mini package; some good mints and an iPad, because I often like to write something.”

Who is Boris? The Ring of Dobrica lifetime achievement award of the Association of Dramatic Artists of Serbia was present- ed to Boris Isaković last month. He received the award from the previous recipient, Petar Božović, who said that, “whatever role I’ve seen Boris Isaković play, it always seemed to have been written specifically for him”. Vi- da Ognjenović described him as an actor who was cap- tured by the roles he’s played. Boris graduated from the Academy of Arts in his hometown of Novi Sad and is a member of the Europian Film Academy. He also acts in film and television, as well as engaging in teaching work.

rity that are the main reasons this city is so instantly endea- ring. When it comes to muse- ums, we don’t have enough co- lumn inches to present them all, given that the entire city is one big museum. You sho- uld certainly choose everything from the classics to modern art for your soul, but you won’t have time to tour it all. Set out from the beautiful train station at the very he- art of the city. Opposite is Ti- voli Gardens, one of Europe’s biggest and craziest amuse- ment parks, while there’s al- so the Round Tower, which Danes have clambered up to watch the stars for centuries, and next you’ll hit the start of Strøget, a pedestrian shopping area that’s connected to wide avenues heading in all directi- ons. On the right, towards the sea, is the Opera House and the Christiania commune, whi- le straight ahead stand the Da- nish Parliament, the royal re- sidence of Amalienborg and the colourful district of Ny- havn, and a little to the left is
the wondrous botanical gar- den. Alternatively, head behind the train station and lose your- self in the Vesterbro neighbo- urhood. The best option is not to have any kind of plan, just a map of the city, and to allow Copenhagen to guide you, thro- ugh its friendly streets and ca- nals, from one beauty spot to the next. Andersen It was back in 1805, in the small Danish city of Odense, that Hans Christian Andersen, a man who would mark all chi- ldhoods the world over, was born. Probably the most famo- us ever Dane led a solitary life as a boy, dreaming of a garden filled with wondrous creatures, and just such a garden today flourishes on the grounds of the house in Odense that has been turned into his memorial museum. There is also a wit- hered oak that’s 219 years old, having been planted the same year that Andersen was born. And he would grow up besi- de that tree until departing to find his fortune in Copenha - gen at the age of 14. A beauti- ful statue of his Little Mermaid today stands as a permanent reminder of his genius at the entrance to the city’s harbo- ur, greeting those who arrive in Copenhagen, a city that pays tribute to this beloved author at every corner. From the mu- seum of fairy tales near the ci- ty’s Round Tower, all the way to the beautiful, colourful distri- ct of Nyhavn, where he lived for a long time at number 20 and wrote his first fairy tales. His mermaid watches over the Danish capital, where Ander- sen returned after his many jo- urneys and was finally laid to rest in the lane of celebrated and worthy Danes.

Hamlet Regardless of how unpleasant it might be for us to contradict the great William Shakespeare, we could never agree with his claim that “something is rotten in the state of Denmark”! On the contrary, the site chosen by the famous bard as the setting for Hamlet couldn’t be further from that claim. This is one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, and formerly one of the most important: Kronborg Castle, which Shakespeare re- named Elsinore in Hamlet, af- ter the city of Helsingør whe- re the castle stands. You can spot the tall towers and spires of this Renaissance beauty as soon as you step from the tra- in after a journey of just 45 mi- nutes from Copenhagen. When you enter the castle and cross to the side facing the sea, you will spot Sweden just four kilo- metres away across the water. Historians claim that Shakes- peare almost certainly never set foot in this place. They in- sist that he could only have he- ard about it, because it was fa- mous for its might, but also for hosting luxurious parties that were attended by the most im- portant people of the time. Whatever the case, legend has it that the ghost of a young prince wanders the chambers of this building every night, whi- le the place in the castle where Hamlet encountered the ghost of his father is also specially marked...

Ingrid was accepted into the Royal Dramatic Thea- tre in Stockholm at the age of just 16. Being accepted at the Dramaten was her only dream, and she did receive a scholar- ship (just as Greta Garbo had, some years earlier), so you should visit this magnificent building. Ingrid died in London on her 67 th birthday, but her ashes were partially scattered in the sea around the island of Dannholmen in Sweden, whe- re she used to spend her sum- mer holidays. The rest was bu- ried at the cemetery with her parents. Northern Cemetery is perhaps not as impressive as The Woodland (Greta Garbo’s final resting place), but it is certainly an attractive and pe- aceful place. Garbo died in her New York home in 1990, at the age of 86. Nine years after her passing, Garbo’s remains were transported to her final resting place at The Woodland Ceme- tery in southern Stockholm. Today you’ll find a small me - morial grove beside her grave, which is one of the most visi- ted spots in this UNESCO-li- sted cemetery.

The beating heart of the ci- ty is Karl Johans Gate, a bustling metropolitan street where you’ll find many of Oslo’s attractions. At one end stands the classicist Royal Palace, built between 1825 and 1849. It is the offi- cial residence of the Norwe- gian monarch and his fa- mily, but is partly open to the public. The residence is surrounded by a public park, and a much-loved attracti- on is the changing of the gu- ard of honour, which takes place daily at 1.30pm. Wal- king on, you will come acro- ss the magnificent building of the unicameral Norwe- gian Parliament, dating back to 1866, and further down the street you’ll encoun- ter the Protestant Cathedral that dates back to the 17 th century. Nobel Turn into Roald Amundsens Gate and walk up to the ma- jestic and very characteristic building of the town hall. This mighty, modern building was built in 1950 and, apart from office space, also houses an art gallery. It is also the venue that hosts the annual awar- ding of the Nobel Peace Pri- ze. As stipulated in the wi- ll of inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel, the Nobel Prizes in physics, chemistry, physio- logy or medicine and literatu- re are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, while the Nobel Pe- ace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway. He didn’t explain why. The Nobel Peace Prize was last year awarded to Nar- ges Mohammadi “for her fight against the oppression of wo- men in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all”.

Aleks O’Loklin, glumac
si svojim pisanjem, pored zvezde serijala – a to su Havaji.

S eries Hawaii Five-0 recently returned to the Star channel, bringing viewers the tenth and final season, and bringing back into our lives the members of the elite police taskforce that fights crime in the U.S. state of Hawaii, in- cluding blue-eyed heartthrob Steve McGarrett, who heads this charming and dangerous team. Of course, there’s also his right-hand man, in the form of New Yorker and detective Danny Williams, portrayed by Scott Caan, son of the recently departed James Caan. This team, which has entertained us on the small screen for almost a decade, has also shown us that the most beautiful sunny day can turn into a hellish nightmare even in the paradise that is Hawaii. In this interview with Alex O’Loughlin, the show’s main star, we discover how this ten-year journey has been and whether we can hope for this popular se- ries to continue. The actor who plays the character of Steve McGarrett in the series Hawaii Five-0 says that he found it quite easy to hang his hat and settle comfortably in Hawaii, on an island that has become his second home Nothing’s hard when you work in paradise
